We love Oak Bluffs, but the marina staff/management have a lot to learn about keeping customers. We have been coming to Oak Bluffs Marina since 2005 and have only missed about 3 years since then, but that seems to mean nothing to the management. We arrived on July 20 and were scheduled to leave on Friday, July 25. We are 78 years old and I checked the weather for Friday and the seas back to Newport were going to be at least 3-4 feet, which means they could be 6-8 or 10 feet (same on Thurs.). For safety sake, I decided to leave on Wed. and asked for credit for Thurs. & Fri., but all Nick would do is give us 1 nite credit toward a future stay at Oak Bluffs after I told him we could not return this year. After coming here for almost 20 years and being in the retail business in the past, this is not the way to keep customers. I will try to make the trip next year to get the one night credit (assuming he keeps his word), but after that I don't see us returning to Oak Bluffs Marina unless they change their policy. The internet worked fine thanks to the location of our slip (close to the dockmaster office), but the rocking of the boat due to the boat traffic & wind made it very uncomfortable.
