Report Review
We were part of a cruising fleet that left Annapolis and headed to Boston. Of the 8 ports we visited, this was the only marina that was a disappointment. Have written positive reviews (google) on all the other sites.
Firstly, the slips back into a high bulkhead. In order to disembark your boat, you have to climb a ladder about 4-5 feet. The ladders are not the most secure. The pilings were in good shape. While the tides in New England can be tricky, the change is not great in the harbor and doesn't require substantial adjustment of lines (not on floating docks).
Secondly, the marina is lacking any real amenities. The bathroom is spartan and quite public. We stayed out of it. One of my fellow cruisers had issues with the electrical system and had to run a generator the whole time. They couldn't get an electrician to figure out the incapability (which didn't occur at any other marina).
Much of my frustration is that we had anticipated a more modern facility with reasonable amenities. Many of the other boaters seemed to be quite content with the marina. If you are looking for "bare bones", you will be fine. To be fair, the cost was lower than the marinas we experienced in Newport, Boston, Greenport, etc. Our group had different expectations.
Previously, we had stayed in Edgartown. Many of our group stayed on mooring balls in that town and were quite satisfied. When we return, that is where we will go!!
