My first experience with this marina was great, but my most recent experience this last weekend was terrible. While this is a very nice/brand new Marina, their pricing policy is misleading, confusing, and exorbitant. I booked a slip on Dockwa and my total charge as documented in the confirmation email from Dockwa was $67.47. I stayed a few hours and then left to head back to my local slip in Chicago. The next morning an additional charge of $220.42 showed up in an email and on my credit card charging me $50 per hour plus a credit card fee and sales tax (which was in addition to what I was already charged by Dockwa). None of this was communicated to me ahead of time on the email confirmations or by harbor personnel when I checked in and I assumed that for a quick stop over that my total bill was going to be $67.47 as communicated via the Dockwa confirmation email. I called the harbor today to ask why my bill was so expensive. They told me that I was being charged the additional charges and apologized for the confusion. I’ve been a successful business leader for many years and In my opinion, this was not very good. Customer service created by ambiguous and confusing pricing. When I asked for some financial consideration due to the confusion, they were not willing to accommodate me in any way. I was planning to be a regular visitor to this marina but being charged nearly $300 for a few hours stay is pretty ridiculous so I likely will not return. I’ve stayed at over a dozen harbors all across lake MI and this is by far the most expensive pricing I've experienced. in some case, 3x as much. Not at all what I was expecting. My advice to anyone who wants go there for the day or for the night would be to ensure you understand and get firm pricing in writing ahead of committing to stay there. I understand that the owners paid a lot of money to build this nice/new marina and I totally appreciate the need to find ways to make money. That said, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do business and in my opinion this is not the right way.
