Morningstar Marinas | Little Creek

We stayed for a year and really enjoyed our time at MorningStar. It's a great location - close to a grocery store, restaurants and the beach. The MorningStar crew was very friendly and always willing to help. We would stay here again if we find ourselves back in this area.

The docks are in great shape, but directions and maps into the marina could use improvement. Telling me our slip is "down the fairway" was not descriptive enough. Is that the fairway outside the marina, or the Fairway between Dock A and B or between B and C? The online map shows the docks, but no orientation to which way they run. Listing land and or creek on the map would be helpful. Also, slip numbers on the slips would be helpful and listing slip number range on the Dock A, Dock B and Dock C signs would help. May also suggest that dock staff train by going out in a small boat and following on shore directions exactly to see how their directions over the radio can be confusing. They were quick to get on dock to direct, but I like to have a heads up prior where we were going. Also, marina staff said they would send a map of our slip, never received it. My last training suggestion is to let dock staff know the places that boaters need to know about, where is the office, where can we pick up packages, where is the shower room, where is the laundry room. Did appreciate getting gate codes ahead of time, but no one pointed out where they were located. Monetary tips to dock staff were lost because of this, and office staff didn't offer this information either. Staff seem willing, but need more training and coaching. As said before, docks are nice, laundry, bathroom and showers are functional, but could use updating.

This is a great marina with new docks and good facilities. Ashley Trotter, the dockmaster is very customer oriented and she made sure that our stay was good. She runs a great operation and we will definitely stop there again next summer. Definitely Five Stars!

Ashley and team did a great job and professionalism. They texted me a slip photo, and marina info so I could access it on my phone. They assisted us docking the boat. They are trained well at this marina. 5 different marinas in 5 days and this was the best location for staff.

Andrew and staff are great. Very nice marina and well taken care of. Can't wait to get back.

Absolutely superlative staff led by Ashley. Dock staff - Andrew, Andrew, Owen, and others always there to help land or lend a hand. Plans for future improvements in place re: bathhouse renovation. Great location. Only 3 miles to the Norfolk Airport.

The staff keep the fuel dock open after their normal close for us. They were very helpful with every aspect of our stay.

Nice new piers! Friendly and helpful staff. Ashley drove us to a bike shop to get a new tube...in her own car. On the drive she pointed out lots of nearby shops, restaurants, and things to see. Having Stony's bar and grill almost on site is a great advantage -- good food and great drinks.

Really excellent Marina, the staff were all very nice and helpful, and the docks and equipment were in super shape. Would not hesitate to stop here again.

We are at Morningstar for an emergency stop after engine issues on our blue water sail from SC to MA. The marina has been great. Ashley is terrific and all of the staff have been friendly and helpful. The resturant, Stoney’s, has great food. We feel very fortunate to be here under difficult circumstances. While we look forward to getting back underway, I can see making this a regular place to visit during our transits up and down the coast.

Litttle Creek has beautiful docks in a well protected basin. Great restaurant and dockhands. Ashley personifies customer service.

I had the pleasure of working with Ashley and her staff as I moved by boat from MA to NC. My initial reservation had to be moved 3 times since weather held us up in NJ for 2 days. In that time I received follow-up emails confirming they would have room for me when I finally arrived. Most important, when I did arrive, their staff directed me to fuel docks, helped with the slip and always had a smile. I would highly recommend you choose Little Creek, you will not be dissapointed....

Great, marina. Helpful and friendly staff. Good clean floating docks. Onside restaurant is very good quality. Easy to deal with via email and calls, only small issue is the entrance way to the fuel dock is a little shallow. But manageable.

The staff was caring, welcoming and informative. We were delayed due to the weather and they accommodated dock space anyway. They followed up on every topic we raised before and during our stay. They made us feel like home. Docks are picture perfect and squeaky clean. All cruiser desired facilities are available. Few good restaurants are available in walking distance. It is It refreshing to know that marinas like Morningstar at Little Creek still exist.

Beautiful facility and everyone is so nice and helpful. The restaurant is great and the courtesy car is really convenient, and the grocery store is in walking distance. Just a very pleasant experience!

I stay at this place anytime I go offshore. The staff is amazing. This time they went to Walmart to get me a diesel additive I needed. I had a long trip there and I needed to sleep and I was leaving at 2am. They handed me the bottle when I docked:) You guys are the best!!!!!

Ashley was very accommodating. We had a few adjustments to our stay. She handlers them with professionalism. They also had a vehicle for boaters to use at no charge! This is a wonderful place to stop into.

As a Belgian solo sailor, I arrived here 4 weeks ago after sailing 6 days and nights nonstop via the North Atlantic from West Palm Beach. You can imagine, I was a little tired. Also I am totally new to this area. But, manager Ashley assist me by phone and VHF in a very professional way. Her idea of texting me a picture (render) of my berth worked excellent. 3 very helpful girls took my lines and later that day in the office they gave me all info needed. Strong, young dynamic team! Oh, forgot something else> what I also really liked was the marina welcome drink, perfect for socializing. And here a few suggestions: open the pool, provide bikes, a parasol for the fun launch seats and a glass container. But that's all going to be fine, I sense enthusiasm.

We staid there on our MS390 for over a month. We left our boat there for a couple of weeks and also staid on it for several weeks. Ashley, Amy and all the crew were so friendly. The marina is wonderful with a great restaurant there and several more in walking distance. They have a car that you can use also. It’s near Virginia Beach as well. Love the marina and the staff.

This marina’s hospitality is top notch. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming and willing to help with anything. The day I was there they happened to be having a customer appreciation party with food, drinks and music. You don’t see that all the time! I would recommend this marina to anyone looking to drop in from the Chesapeake bay.

Great marina in a well protected part of Little Creek. If anything, the fuel dock can be a challenge for larger boats (40+ foot) with a single screw. Our catamaran was able to sneak in and out ok, but on a windy day, I'd probably pass on a trip to the fuel dock and get gas on the way in at Cobb. That's really the only negative I can offer - the positives? The staff are great! Everyone, from dockhands to office staff, are incredibly helpful and friendly. The marina is pretty much brand new, so they are doing their best to make it enjoyable and useful through the renovating phase. There is a laundry room (2 washers/dryers at reasonable pricing) and a converted pool locker room that offers showers and toilets. The next phase will replace the pool and pool locker room facility with even better options for socializing. While we were there, the marina sponsored a social for the cruisers, live-aboard and dry storage folks. It was fantastic, and well attended! Docks are brand new, power is solid and water quality excellent. Norfolk Int'l airport is 7 minutes away and there is a courtesy car (actually a pretty nice one, too!) for use while you stay. There are a couple of good choices for food and drinks within walking distance as well. As always, I hesitate to give 5 star ratings, as I will now have to complete with y'all for a slip!

Very friendly and efficient dock assistants and management. Restaurant at marina is average. Jumbo lump crab cakes were not jumbo lump as menu said. More like claw meat.

We had to come to South Creek to have workmen on boat to check on some equipment. The work included a sea trial. This was communicated to MorningStar who insured I got a slip that allowed easy in and out during my stay. Floating dock where I was was in pristine condition with nice rubber rub stip giving piece of mind if you accidently touch the dock. They had good efficient crew to assist with dock lines. They have convenient washers (2) and driers (2) available for a small fee and will give you access to a complimentary vehicule (very nice one too) for short shopping trips nearby during their office opening hours. Access to dock is gated for that additional safety feeling and their Wi-Fi was faultless. Bonus: there are lounge chairs placed on the secured dock area where boaters can chill and chat with others at sunset time! There are good restaurants within walking distance and one onsite. We did not use it but they also offer diesel and gasoline. All the staff were really professional, efficient and pleasant and accommodating. I would definitely return if in the area again.
