Report Review

We did not quite know what we were getting ourselves into when we pulled up to this self titled “boatel”, but after some confusion over who to call to to find our reservation, everything was quickly sorted and went perfectly from there. The Shoals is a beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds and perfect views. Great chairs, hammocks, etc. to lounge in if you want to get off the boat. It’s important to note that the “marina” is managed by Albertsons next door and they have all of the knowledge, ship store, to accommodate all the boaters in the marina, and handled all of the slip assignments for both Shoals and their own working marina. (Originally asking the Shoals crew was not the way to go- so you can forego that all together and simply contact Albertsons upon arrival for docking instructions.) Also, while the Shoals and Albertsons does not have a gas dock. Port of Egypt Marina has a self serve gas dock with two pumps that is located not 50’ from the Shoals dock. Once we were assigned a slip and docked, everything was amazing. The Shoals is lovely. As I mentioned before, the hotel is beautiful. The bathrooms (located inside the hotel), and outdoor showers are perfect! This is not your regular beach cabana showers, these are your ultra lux Hampton style showers with beautiful pebble tiled floors and beautiful plumbing hardware with both hot and cold water. This is nicer than any in door shower I have taken in any marina from block island to safe harbor marinas anywhere. Oh, and The Shoals was happy to provide shampoos, conditioners and toiletries that we forgot. The Shoals hotel store in reception also has a few provisions for wine and cheese/charcuterie, some ice cream and ice, but other than that this is a high end shop with beautiful items and artist pieces. In the morning, complimentary coffee, tea, juice, and croissants were available. This is an absolute first in boating for me. There are Priority Bicycles available for guests usage to take around to near by vineyards or into the town of Southold where unbelievable restaurants can be found (Maroni’s, North Fork Table, & Southold Social to name a few). You can also just choose to stay at the Shoals, the views are plenty, and there are two neighboring restaurants Alure Osteria, and Waypoint which you can literally walk to down the dock. We ate at Waypoint and loved it. On top of all of this I also want to make a point of saying that the staff at the Shoals (and Albertsons marine) is exceptional. As we first arrived everyone was as helpful as could be hoped for (even though we were early and didn’t know exactly who to get slip direction from) and from then on the Shoals crew were just amazingly gracious. As we wondered around exploring, one of the owners (Joe) actually offered and drove us to town so we could explore. Absolutely above and beyond what we would have expected from anywhere on earth. Thank you so much! We loved every second of The Shoals. This was a great choice, and stop for us— we will certainly be coming back. Thank you for an amazing stay.
