Peter Island has always been an exclusive place, and that definitely hasn’t changed. Just be aware that if you’re picking up a mooring ball, it isn’t in the harbor—it’s actually up in Deadman’s Bay to the north. That bay can get really rough when the wind kicks up, and during our trip, it absolutely did. We eventually moved over to Great Harbor and picked up a mooring, and the ride there was much nicer. The downside? You can’t easily get to the marina from the beach in Great Harbor. We decided to make the trek anyway, and it wasn’t exactly pleasant. And once we finally reached the marina office, we were told that the island’s pools and beaches weren’t available to mooring customers. Thankfully, we did have access to the Drunken Pelican restaurant. The staff was fantastic, the food was great, and we’d happily go back for another meal. But honestly, the whole mooring situation makes returning a bit tough to justify.
