We have 17 moorings available to rent by the night. Our private dock offers gasoline, diesel and fresh water. Need a hot shower or to dispose of trash we can help with that as well! Place an online order at PortClydeGeneralStore.com to have your groceries ready for pick up upon your arrival. Two inns are located within walking distance of the marina. Call us on channel 9. Please note: no launch service at this time due to staffing shortages.
Nice stay. Love Port Clyde! PCGS’s moorings are very well marked and easy to fine. Kudos!
Obviously not the same since the fire, but they have launch service, fuel and some supplies. Friendly folks, and we're looking forward to the rebuild!
We did not know that Dockwa was required to get a mooring. Then the dock guy had trouble finding our log in.
The moorings look brand new. They are well labeled and have green pick up flags. The launch service is running. The general store is in new modern digs just off the dock. The fuel pump and launch is staffed from 7am to 7pm. There is a food truck on the dock and breakfast and lunch is served just up the hill at the Ocean House. The other restaurants have expanded their menus. Port Clyde isn't what is was before the fire, but it is coming back and ready for visiting yachts.
Not good experience. Used to love to stop there on my way to and from Downeast Maine. Now help there are uncooperative, rude and unfriendly. The only thing they are not charging for is the air you breathe. $50 for a mooring in a location like there’s is pricey. Then $15 for an hour on dinghy dock and $6 to drop off a passenger at dock is downright wrong. Also $5 for a trash bag and $2 for water adds insult to injury. I didn’t know of drop off fee but they charged my Dockwa account without my approval. Also almost no cell coverage and no wifi. What else can i say? I won’t go there again and I’ll note my experience on charting applications.
Oliver was the best ever! He knew his stuff, he was personable, efficient yet never rushing us. Thank you!
Oliver great! Nice new mooring buoys and lines. Port Clyde has recovered nicely after last September fire - even without rebuilding. Great day in Monhegan Island
Allowing for the disastrous winter events in Port Clyde, we were very disappointed. The rate on $50/nite for mooring is about standard in Maine now, but “not sure Wi-Fi is included “ plus $5 for shower is a bit much. Despite an empty float, I was told to shoehorn at the public dinghy dock, unless I wanted to pay to tie my dinghy up for an hour or two while in town. They won’t fill their empty mooring like that. They can be much better (and used to be).
We just finished a night on the Port Clyde General Store moorings. First of all, we had a fantastic time and the brand new moorings were the best we have ever seen. They are brand new this year. They are well laid out, have extremely clear labels on them, with "PCGS" and a large identifying number. They have great pennants and an extremely obvious green flag with a white stripe. You literally cannot miss them. You may have read various reviews that talk about the difficulty in communicating with PCGS. First and most important, despite the name, the moorings are no longer managed by the General Store. DO NOT USE the phone number in all the listings (including Dockwa) ending in 6543. The people there have no connection to the moorings. The moorings are now being managed by a nice young man named Oliver who checks the Dockwa account from time to time and will reply, but not necessarily very quickly. He has restarted the launch service and will answer Channel 9 when called at "Port Clyde Launch" or "Port Clyde Moorings". They are still getting the bugs out of the system, and you might not hear back for a while. We put in a Dockwa request at about 9ish in the morning, and hadn't heard back by the time we arrived. There were plenty of moorings, and we grabbed one. Oliver saw us come in, checked the Dockwa account, confirmed our request, and came out in the launch to welcome us and ask if we needed any transportation or if there was anything else he could do to help. I think they are in the process of ramping up staff and procedures for the summer. It is a wonderful place to visit, and we look forward to returning.
Perfect stay. First time I have stayed in Port Clyde and I have cruised the coast for 35 years. My mistake....this is a great place to visit and stay.
Never found #13 that was assigned to me and even the attendant that I called on ch 09 didn’t even know either.
So many moorings available, easy paddle into the General Store to resupply and walk through town. Wifi available at the store. Received several recommendations in town and ended up walking to the lighthouse and having dinner at the Dip Net!
We came in during a hard rain and blow. Radioed and fellow who answered could not give any reference point other to mooring other than “white ball with green toggle” Found one and was good solid mooring held on 35kt blow. Next day we inquired about the fuel dock, dinghy tie ups, and fuel price. They said they were in the store and didn’t know. Good moorings, beautiful town, need to improve communication
Great stop. Nice walk. Great ice cream. Great general store. We’ll be back. Moorings are significantly improved. The lad working the dock might want to wear something that indicates he works there.
One of favorite spots to get a mooring. Safe harbor, delicious dockside restaurant, beautiful walks and friendly people!
Lovely spot, great walk to the light house but the General Store while quaint charges for everything. 5$ for garbage(should be included), $5 for showers…no thanks and two mediocre omelets for $36….not again.
Lot of rolling during the night. Otherwise, good service and good amenities
Wonderful place! Provisions and scenery were terrific.
Got me a close mooring. Always enjoy the store as well
Everything was easy, the mooring was in good condition, and the harbor was quiet. The launch makes it easy to go to shore. Delicious lobster at both the General Store and DipNet Restaurant. Be sure to visit Village Ice Cream and Bakery. We love staying in Port Clyde.
It is important to keep in mind that this is a working Harbor so lots of boat traffic early and late. A suggestion: The marina moorings do not need two pick up buoys. The flagged buoy is enough and the additional buoy is cumbersome and needless. Store has interesting items, and stretching your legs by walking to the lighthouse is a must.
Quaint harbor, good mooring, great walk to lighthouse
Great location - General Store is perfect and welcoming.
Great Port Clyde General Store, well stocked & they start serv
When the launch driver took us out to our boat this morning he slammed the old white Whaler into the side of our boat. The sea is glassy calm. We just had our boat all gripped in a beautiful red. The majority of the white paint came off, but there are two large gouges. A really unnessesary, unkind mistake..
Excellent service. Friendly staff. Tulane was fantastic. Thank you.
Friendly, accommodating staff. Store has nice mix of useful provisions. Adjoining restaurant is excellent
Wonderful service, Chris picked us up right away!
Always a mystery finding your assigned mooring. Other than the hide and seek it’s a nice place to visit.
Friendly dock staff. Fun dockside restaurant and general store. Anchorage is rolly and wide open to the Southwest. Ample moorings
Convenient location…easy to get help when needed…incredible weather. Ended up staying 2 nights
Not a friendly place. Lobstermen take pleasure in early morning close encounters.
Restrictive hours for a summer marina. They close the general store/marina at 7pm which means no restrooms until the next day. The check in bordered on the the depth of a mortgage application, but the worst insult was charging $5 for the disposal of a brown paper bag worth of trash. The anchorage is open to S and SW swells and we were rockin and rollin.
Prompt response on VHF, limited cell service, but easy WiFi ashore, general store always seems to have whatever I forget to provision, staff are welcoming and helpful.
Nice safe mooring location, convenient dock and staff. Reasonable price in a old style Maine working harbor. Easy walk to the Marshall point lighthouse. Run Forest run!
Easy to find the mooring. The General Store had live lobsters which we purchased and took back to the boat for a fine dinner.
Great place to stay. It was a flat harbor at a time when swells and chop were outside. All services available and a great general stire
Wonderful store/dock staff immediately responsive on ch. 9.
Port Clyde was the ideal “port in a storm” for us last week! So well protected from the prevailing winds, with easy access to shore via the town wharf or dinghy dock. The bonus was being able to take the morning boat (Laura B) out to Monhegan on a drizzly day — we explored the island in its more “wild and wooly” ways. The ride back was somewhat rolly due to the seas, but once in the harbor, it was nice and calm. The General Store had the provisions we needed, and just up the street is ice cream.
Much better than in the past. They answered the radio, and sent a guy out in a skiff to check on us. The balls are better marked than in the past and pickup lines have been improved.
Wonderful. Everything you need is right there. People are very helpful and friendly. Clean showers. Easy harbor to get in and out of and of course there is the ferry to Monhegan for a day hike.
Great spot - great little town and easy to find the mooring
We had a great stay. Listened to sea gulls day and night, light croud aeound the harbor and we had great meal at the restaurant last evening. Water was calm throughout the night. Chris was very helpful and super friendly when tying up to the mooring ball and helping us this morning at the fuel dock.
Nice little port! Blueberry pie and ice cream delicious! Launch service very accommodating!
Oddly over priced. One of the most expensive moorings in Maine + $5 per person to shower + $5 per bag of trash + $2 to fill your water tank. Did not encounter these extra costs anywhere else in a month of cruising Maine. Some of the moorings seem too tightly spaced. Not going back.
Always a very nice salty stop. Nice store and the Dip Net restaurant is good. Ice cream just around the corner
Some confusion on what mooring We were assigned. Another boat was on the mooring were assigned in the reservation confirmation. We took another mooring and all was fine.
A favorite place now. Chris was very accommodating, including letting us move to a different mooring when a large commercial vessel on another mooring threatened to hit us when swinging.
Wyeth Gallery, Marshall Light House Museum, and Black Harpoon make this a place to stop for.
Booked a mooring months in advance. Arrived could not reach anyone on Channel 9. Called the store, they had no clue what was going on, told us to pick up one of two moorings. Both were occupied, grabbed a small mooring (that could not hold us) my husband ran around for an hour trying to fix “their” problem. Thank god we were part of a group & one of our members who was lighter offered to change moorings. Just a mention we did encounter a small sailboat who did not want to move because it was too rocky, nice👎 This was horrible not sure we will return. Plus for all the upset & running around we did, they still wanted to charge us for trash😳
Nice town. Good moorings. There seemed to be a few people who felt their moorings were not suitable, but the angst seemed unnecessary. They do seem to charge extra for everything which seems a little unfriendly. They seem to charge $5.00 extra for Dockwa at least based on the rate on the sigh on the dock.
Port Clyde country store was a fine mooring field. All moorings allowed for sufficient space. The clerks were efficient and courteous when called to get assignment.
Wildly overpriced for what you get. When we arrived, hailed to ask how to find our assigned mooring; no response. Called by phone instead; person answering phone didn't know, and there was no one else available. Included launch was not running (it's available 7 days a week, unless it's the dock person's day off, or he's not in). Free restroom in the store was disgustingly dirty; another restroom and shower in the adjacent building cost $5 per use. $2 charge to fill with water at the fuel dock. $5 per bag to drop off garbage. Assuming 2 people on the boat want to shower once a day and use no other services, that's $50/day total. Compare the closest Dockwa-listed marina, Tenants Harbor Boat Yard: $87.50 per day (for our 35-ft boat) includes showers, clean restrooms, trash disposal, water tank fill. And that's for a dock, with helpful staff. Or $30 for a mooring, which includes launch, restrooms, showers, garbage, water. A pity. We've wanted to stay in Port Clyde for a while, and it is a beautiful spot where we had a restful night. But we won't be back.
Good secure mooring and straightforward easy to work with people. Port Clyde is cool. We’ll be back, Thanks, Aleutia Nation
OK, but the advertised launch service wasn’t available on the day we arrived, though it was on the following day.
Nice spot, nice restaurant, only problem was curtailed hours of store hours and no marina staff, I am sure due to current labor conditions.
$40 is at the high end of ME moorings, but then they charge $5 additional to bring off a bag of trash and $2 to fill water. Described launch hasn’t run any of the last few times we’ve moored here. Sometimes irregular store hours make restroom/shower access inconvenient.
No one responded to the VHF on our arrival at 3:00 PM. No one answered the phone. No way for incoming boats to get mooring assignments. Restaurant was very understaffed with a very limited menu. Beautiful location but we did not receive the usual quality service.
The mooring was great but we called and asked about getting fuel and they told us to come into the fuel dock, but when we did, we were then told that the fuel pump was not working.
Mooring was available and town was adorable, as was the lighthouse & museum. Harbor was mostly commercial fishermen. Lobster boats throw substantial wake with little regard for pleasure boaters starting at 4am, which seems to be the norm in Maine.
Great spot, launch service was excellent. Showers are $5, nice clean facilities. Port Clyde is a cool little town to explore!
The harbor master is a one man show! Great service.
Good moorings with convenient access to store. Wish the store had more supplies specific to boaters (e.g alcohol for a burner )
Easy and friendly. Cozy harbor with food and limited supplies.
