St Francis Resort and Marina offers short and long-term boat storage in one of the best hurricane holes of The Bahamas. Our newly constructed marina includes 22 slips that can accommodate boats from 40 ft to 75 ft providing water and electricity. In addition, our facility features many moorings at a maximum LOA of 45 ft with a 6 foot draft. We are located in a very protected cove of Stocking Island referred to as “ hurricane hole 1 and hurricane hole 2. Full service resort with a restaurant and bar on site. We do not offer daily mooring rates. Our mooring rates are either weekly, monthly or long term. We do not offer showers but there are bathrooms for boaters that May enjoy dining at our restaurant.Thank you!
The dock master was most helpful. The facilities were a little tired
Gorgeous location with views to Georgetown and spectacular ocean beach. Docks are floating which is nice. Restaurants has very good food with typical Bahamas service. Not crowded this time of year. Last year here for sailing regatta and Georgetown was packed. To many for our liking.
Tackle is in good shape. They came out to show us our options since the balls aren’t numbered. As protected and close to Chat and Chill as you can get!
Nicely located, floating docks, very quiet, friendly staff, easy walk to beach. Near small blue hole and chat and chill. Sheltered from most winds. Bar is small but very nice deck and small beach
Wonderful stay, and a wonderful staff!
Solid dock. Can only get in or out at a mid tide or higher if you draw over 5 ft. Power is iffy. Cannot pull Over 70 amp with two 50amp cords or the dock trips
The marina is very small, and half is occupied by floating homes, but it is a floating dock and the marina services were good and staff was very attentive. The beach is fantastic. The only downside is the constant slapping of water on the hull, which might be a problem for some people, but my wife and I slept without a problem.
Kendall, the Dockmaster was very attentive and accommodating. TY Kendall!
Loved our time in Blue Hole 2! Lots of full timers in there, very friendly group.
Mooring were a little iffy. Nearing the end of its life. I mistakenly reserved an old ball instead of the brand new ones which were cheaper.
Outside of the mooring hold was really bumpy and difficult to get off our dinghy to the boat. Inside is a different world. The water is so calm. Bonus is all the turtles swimming around.
Great place very accommodating!! We will be back.
Good docks, nice facility, great location.
Great marina, floating docks are in great condition, and nice to have in the Bahamas. Arthur and the while staff are great and very helpful. The ferry service while I didn't use it seems very efficient. Beware it is shallow on the approach and just off the dock, I draw 5ft. Also there is a minium 2 day rate, so do read their website as to what they offer ( as I didnt) . Overall good marina, has loads to offer, on-site restaurant serves very good food and the drinks are not over priced ( remember everything need to brought over) would stay again
Docks are relatively new in good condition - best in the area of what we saw. However, lots of boat traffic makes them a bit rolly (not the fault of the marina). I wouldn't stay here in any serious inclement weather. Marina facilities are minimal, and seem to be going thru quite a bit of renovation. This is on Stocking Island, with no common power - everyone is on their own. Marina relies on their own solar and generator, which means dockside power is up/down a couple of times each day. Multiple restaurants available, but you'll need your dinghy for all but the marina's own one. Marina provides a water taxi on demand, which was very useful in getting over to Georgetown for groceries, ice, etc. You're kind of roughing it here, but that is as advertised.
Our stay was pleasant enough. Although charts showed water as very shallow, we had no problem getting to the dock and there was plenty of depth at the dock. Dock hands were very helpful. We would have appreciated move information upon arrival, i.e., trash disposal, restroom location, restaurant hours. Also, info regarding fuel and laundry states, "nearby." A dinghy ride of a mile and a half across Elizabeth Harbor to George Town gets you to fuel, laundry, a grocery and hardware store. The Snappy Turtle restaurant at St. Frances was not open for many hours for the two days we were there so we did not have an opportunity to try it. A short dinghy ride away is Chat N Chill. A busy place with decent food. Other than that there is nothing else nearby. A short walk away is the oceanside beach. It is expansive but not as beautiful as the beaches we've become accustomed to in the Exumas.
The mooring ball was sturdy and reliable. Great holding in 37 knot winds. The food at the restaurant was pretty good.
Very pleasant stay, Arthur the owner was very helpful from docking to sharing info for boat parts, we had to fly home for few days and we felt very safe to leave our boat at the dock. Food are very good, there is no pool but a beautiful beach and many walking paths. A short dinghy ride to town. We will come back here for sure.
Kendall and his wife were most helpful. Always available to assist.
My husband and I are currently staying here from Virginia. This place is about natural beauty and charm. The hotel is ran with love. The beaches on this island are the best beaches in the carribean. Some you would need to take a water taxi but we’ll worth it. Rooms incredibly clean with great air conditioning. The hotel is rustic and they are working like hell to make improvements. Please remember on remote islands, repairs are harder to do. They might not have everything on the menu but what they do have is amazing. I wish I could post pictures
I can’t say enough nice things about the kind people. The owner Sidney was fabulous. An added us is that the food is some of the best in the islands. We will be back. Great people
We would like to stay another week please. Gesine Mc Gregor
Garbage was a hike from the dock. Pricey but limited market....
Location is perfect, staff friendly. We had a small problem during our stay that was swiftly fixed and corrected once we had informed the staff. We will come back and do recommend!
Stayed on mooring. Entire mooring pulled out of ground and we hit boat behind us in the middle of the night. From what I can understand, we were the 5th mooring to do so this season.
We arrived at Stocking Island late afternoon and as it was our first visit here, happily reserved the weekly mooring ball to insure a spot in the busy Georgetown area. The ball had nice anti-chaffing protection on it - made it a little more challenging to pick up - but do-able. Had a very protected ball for the blow that came thru and were also really close to the Chat & Chill and cruiser activities.
We were on a St. Francis owned mooring ball for 2 weeks. The entire mooring pulled out on 3/5 at 1015pm and we quickly drifted and collided with a nearby vessel. Moorings were advertised as “helix driven moorings”, but a Manta Ray mooring anchor is what was still attached to the ball, tackle, and our boat. Dockmaster was apologetic and allowed us to stay at the marina at no additional cost for a few days while we assessed damages and made some repairs. He stated (as does their rental agreement) that they have no liability whatsoever. Area cruisers suggested this was the 4th failure in the past year. Dockmaster said the moorings are inspected every 6 months and that there has only been one incident due to an oversized motor yacht that piled out a mooring. We are a 41’ catamaran, well within the stated 45’ maximum length allowed.
This is 5-Star Bahamian style! What you may miss from the Ritz or Chubb Cay, you gain in gracious and friendly hosts, million dollar views of sunrises over the Atlantic ocean and personal service from the new owner Arthur. Purchased only a year and a half ago, Arthur has undertaken an ambitious effort to upgrade the facilities, restaurant and service without compromising on a thing. The result is a relaxed and friendly resort that captures the essence of the Bahamas. Rated at a 5' maximum draft, you can easily enter the marina at high tide if you draw a little deeper. And the floating dock is a nice feature for getting on/off your boat w/o straining. Enjoy your stay.
Terrific place. The staff couldn’t be better. They are all wearing smiles and go over and above to accommodate you. We’ll be back soon.
Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. They need to add power for Yachts on the dock, we ran the geni for 10 days. Magnificent protection and ocean beach access.
