HyannisPort Moorings (HP) are located in HyannisPort mooring area; near Hyannis Port Yacht Club.
Launch service of any type is currently unavailable in Hyannisport.
Close visual proximity to Kennedy Compound in HyannisPort.
There is a beach to store small vessels in the mooring field (to right of HyannisPort dock) at called Eugenia Fortes Beach but only temporarily and requires individual to pull small vessel up near the sea grass.
We also have wet small vessel storage available at Bismore Park Marina or Gateway Marina. This requires navigating into Hyannis Inner Harbor which is miles from HyannisPort mooring area. Usage is determined by Dockmaster on duty. Please call to schedule small vessel storage in advance (Dockmaster phone number 508-294-1450). Access to main street Hyannis once at Marinas is within walking distance.
Access to main street from HyannisPort is about a 15 minute walk. Getting picked up by an Uber/Taxi at HyannisPort dock is probably easiest way to visit main street.
This mooring field is protected by a break water.
Access to someone to help you navigate to mooring or available on vhf cannot be guaranteed due to staffing hours.

We returned to Hyannis Port Yacht Club over the Fourth of July 2026! weekend because we have a home within walking distance and assumed we'd be able to use the launch service to get ashore. Unfortunately, we were informed that the launch is strictly for members only—no exceptions. We had a party of ten heading out to our boat and even thought the launch operator could make a little extra money by giving us a ride. Not a chance. What made the experience even more frustrating was the refusal to allow us to use the large, mostly empty dinghy dock. In a harbor with only a couple of transient moorings, you'd think there would be some effort to accommodate visiting boaters. Instead, the message was loud and clear: if you're not a member, you're not welcome. In stark contrast, the Barnstable Harbor Master and Marina staff went out of their way to help us find a solution. They made phone calls, advocated on our behalf, and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately, they couldn't overcome the yacht club's rigid policies. For a community that sits on one of the most beautiful harbors on Cape Cod, it's disappointing to find an atmosphere that feels more exclusive than maritime. Boaters have long looked out for one another, and that's what makes the boating community special. The Barnstable Harbor Master embodies that spirit. The Hyannis Port Yacht Club, at least in our experience, does not.
Overall we had a great time. Docwa reservations were confirmed promptly. One SNAFU, the Docwa response indicated to hail on VHF 11 on arrival. No one monitors VHF 11. Call on Channel 9. We spent the first night on the outer mooring off the Kennedy compound. We were treated to some fine sailing exhibitions by the classic yachts that were moored there. The anchorage is well protected behind a significant sea wall, but you will roll as the Ferries go by. Second night we took a mooring in Lewis Bay. It has several advantages: the Ferries go slower so less rolling, and the HYC Launch will pick you up and bring you ashore at the club. It’s a short walk from there to town, that is full of great restuarants and shops. The Black Cat was phenomenal! We stopped in for drinks at the HYC bar and were warmly received. All in all a great place to duck in if you are transiting, as we were.
