unless you're on a walk-on dock there is Zero security. fireworks and loud music from shore all night most weekends. spend enough time there at night and you will hear gunshots, thankfully mostly in the distance. the park is supposed to be closed at night but there is no enforcement. mooring comes with 1 parking pass; extra parking pass will set you back $350. they also ding me an extra $500 per year because I don't live in the city. pump-outs are broken a lot and the wifi sucks; it's basically nonexistent in the moorings and star docks. bathrooms/showers are old and ugly. I've been to lots of harbors on Lake Michigan and the ones in Chicago are by far the worst as far as amenities go.
As far as topography goes, the are the best especially Montrose. too bad they aren't managed better.
