Report Review
The staff were great. There was always someone immediately available to toss a line to whether you were just pulling into your slip or the fuel dock. If I were only rating the staff and the store, it would be a 5 star review. However, we arrived at 1pm on a Thursday afternoon for a 2 night stay in a transient slip. Upon arrival we were notified that our slip was still occupied from the previous night and the person “did not want to leave due to the weather” (there was a thunderstorm coming in from the east) and we had to tie up to the fuel dock and wait. Two hours later, we finally got into our slip, which is where the 1 star comes in. First, if you have a 50’ shore power cord, you will likely need to get an extension as it took every inch of mine to reach. The water is in the same location and my hose would not reach to refill my fresh water tank. The transient slip is on the outside corner of the marina and 100 % exposed to miles of fetch and boat wakes coming in from the east. With Crab Island immediately adjacent to the marina and the pass right in front of it, the boat traffic is absolutely insane. We also learned that in Destin, Florida no wake zones are merely a suggestion that no one follows. We were rocking and rolling all night taking waves right on the beam, so although we paid for 2 nights, we only stayed one and moved on to Pensacola the next day where we had a much better experience.
