Very knowledgeable and good folks at this boatyard. 100 ton travel lift great for all sized boats — even our 25 foot wide catamaran. Quality work was done on time and at a fair price. We had bottom work done and it looks like new. This is one of the last local yards in the area. Felt like family and it was clear they cared. This was our first time with Yard Manager John Lewis and office manager Donna but it will not be the last. Easy to find up the Connecticut River. Deep water and simple approach.
We recently scheduled work to be done at Essex Boat works and I cannot say enough good things about this marina/Boatyard. They were extremely professional, prompt and efficient. We pulled in on Sunday night for a Monday haul out and they had us hauled out by 9 am and 2 guys worked on the boat bottom all day. Other scheduled work began immediately. We even added a few new jobs as some electric winches became available to us and they promptly began work to install them. They allowed us to continue our work on the boat while they worked. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are new and beautiful and they are 1/2 block from beautiful downtown Essex. The bill was also very reasonable. We will return next year for work or even just a few nights in this quaint town. Thank you to John Lewis,Peter and all the others at Essex Boat Works for their great work!!
High price service/repairs, noisy, active shipyard, busy, not attractive for a marina setting, pilings only, strong currents, constant wakes from ferry, difficult entry and egress. Much better friendly marinas with good service in the area. No marina facilities, e.g. toilets/showers. Staff focused on shipyard, not providing marina facilities or service. Maybe OK for just an overnight stay when others are not available. Least attractive facility in the Essex area.
