In both 2018 and 2019, Cedar Island Marina was ranked an "Elite Marina" by Marinas.com. This ranking made it one of the top 21 best marinas/boat yards in the United States (2018) and top 50 best marinas/boat yards in the United States (2019). We are honored to be one of the highest and best rated marinas in Connecticut serving the Long Island Sound area.
Nestled in between a protected residential area and Hammonasset Nature Preserve, Cedar Island Marina is a perfect choice both seasonally and as a transient. Consistently rated one of the best marinas on the Connecticut Shoreline, we invite you to view our full-service facilities and to meet our expert staff whose experience in the marine industry is unmatched. At Cedar Island Marina, we offer more than just a slip. We offer a community of diverse boaters and a complete summer experience. From those looking to go fishing early on a Saturday morning, those looking to relax with their families on a Sunday afternoon, or those looking to stay up way too late on a Friday night, we are confident you will find like-minded individuals here.
This is our second time at Cedar Island. Great amenities and also very protected. They have an easy fuel dock and lots of long floating docks for Transients. We stayed here for 4 nights to wait out the weather and really could not ask for a better stay. The restaurant Aqua has great food and we did take out and eat in. We were able to walk to town (about 1.5 miles round trip) which was easy and go to CVS and get a bite to eat. The laundry is very easy to use at the Marina. F Dock on the inside very well protected and even blowing 15 out in the bay, it was flat calm. Would definitely stay again.
Nice and clean. Everyone one was very helpful. Went out of there way to make our group comfortable
Great place to stay! Awesome facilities and friendly dock staff! Highly recommend. Great music at the pool too!
Tricky getting in but great place once you are there.
Enjoyed our stay. Pool and public restrooms were very clean. Delicious tuna appetizer and lobster tacos at Aqua restaurant. Dock hands were super helpful and marina regulars provided us with warm Ct welcoming!
My only complaint is the docks are filthy. Bring a mat to get on your vessel. Pool is great bathrooms are clean staff is awesome. I’ll be back.
This is our second time here and we will be back again!
Always excellent. Aqua food is always good. The price of lobster rolls at Shanks has gone up and the quality has gone down. The Marina is excellent. People are always helpful.
Great stop when traveling by boat. The marina has everything you need. Great staff. Very accommodating and friendly. You can even chill out by the pool. The restaurant on site was good. Been here several times and will always make this our stopover.
Had a wonderful stay. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Love all the amenities this marina has to offer. Definitely will be going back and definitely would recommend 😊
One of my favorite tranisent marinas on the Sound. Friendly faminly-run marina. Very well maintained with more amenities than any other I've been to. Constant improvements and upgrade are obvious. Quiet and very calm harbor. Easy to see how they alway win awards as a top marina.
Outstanding marina. Cannot say enough good things about the staff. Needed an engine repair at 4pm and they came right down. Had it diagnosed in minutes. Next morning the parts department had the parts!!!
The staff was very helpful and prompt. A nice surprise since it is off-season. Alex was working the fuel dock, and also gave me a shuttle ride to the grocery store. Definitely a well-kept facility.
Great amenities, staff and location! We will be back again!
Great getaway location with all you could want within walking distance. Staff is very accommodating.
great time place is well kept personell excellant
Slips were great, docks could have been cleaned, better maintained. Bathrooms need 2 times service daily on busy holidays. Overall terrific experience with room for improvement
Very nice facility. We go there a few time a season.
Staff and marina excellent. Restaurant great food as well.
Great staff. Clean facilities. Everyone was super nice. The kids enjoyed the clean pool. Our group loved the barbecue pit area. Keep up the great job! We will see you next year!
Staff was ready for our arrival. The marina and facilities are in good shape staff was very polite and helpful and gave a 10 cent per gallon discount for being a visitor on fuel purchase.
Very nice staff- Very clean amenities - great pool - Close proximity to the Clinton outlet stores.
Always a great stay at Cedar Island Marina. Friendliest staff on the Sound. Convenient location for walking, but you don't have to!
We loved your marina. Locals were ssooo friendly, at the pool I loved having the activities, welcoming crew so helpful, bathrooms immaculate, but I feel the pool needs some maintenance, but that won’t stop us from coming back
Excellent Marina. Dock Master Marc runs a great transient service and his staff are the best.
Friendly environment, clean and lots to do. The dog park was a bonus !!!
Nice facilities. Good docks. Restaurants close by.
This was our first stay here and we truly enjoyed it. The staff is excellent and very accommodating. The docks are in excellent shape. The pool is fantastic with entertainment each afternoon on the weekend, a snack bar serving breakfast and lunch. The bathrooms and showers were spotless. There is a restaurant on site and shuttle to town. There are two things that I would mention but not game changers. There are gates to get in the parking lot but you can walk right around them and there no gates with codes at the top of the docks as there are in the pool and bathrooms. So anyone can get on the docks so be aware. Also the boaters travel quite fast in and out if the docks with no horn blasts or warnings. Saw a few dangerous situations. That being said, it was a great 4 days and we will definitely be back. This was our first time but definitely not our last
We returned and again, very welcomed. "We were welcomed as if we were the most important guest to arrive. Everyone was very nice and we had everything we needed right there. Kids loved the pool. It was our first time there and we definitely will be returning for our short stays".
Great Marina. People very nice. Good restaurants and shuttle to town and back was perfect. 😃
Beautiful place, friendly staff, music by the pool was great
Our stay was amazing! Docs, staff, pool, Bathrooms and showers all great as usual we love this place recommend it to anyone asking👍👍👍❤️
Great stay with friendly people on the dock. Dock hands were very helpful. Everything you could ask for was in walking distance: pool, bathrooms, showers, restaurant, ice cream. Prices at the fuel dock were reasonable. Ships store with parts was well stocked. The grounds were clean and organized.
one of the best. very friendly and helpful staff. pool clean and snack bar was great especially sausage pepper and onion on hard roll.
Very clean nice pool to use restaurant on premises and a friendly staff very willing to help
Absolutely great time. Everyone form the marina staff to the boat owners were just so friendly, and accommodating. Definitely would return !!
Best place I've ever stayed for our boating vacation
This was my first trip to Cedar Island Marina. Great place. Fantastic staff. Many amenities.
Wonderful stay at Cedar Island. Staff was excellent and all facilities very clean and inviting. Will definitely be back!
Great marina! Everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating.
What’s not to like about Cedar Island? The staff is very helpful, there’s a large pool, air conditioned showers, play rooms for kids if it rains and free transportation to the Clinton outlet mall if you want to support the local economy.
Well kept marina. Great amenities & good restaurant. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
Beautiful family friendly marina. Great pool and dog park. Close restaurants.
Great place to stay. Pool, bathrooms and showers were clean. Marina was well kept. Dock hands were great. We met great people on F dock. Thanks for the great welcome.
Very nice marina and friendly staff. Well maintained pool and grounds with a well stocked ships store.
Loved it. Nice staff, restaurant close by, nice pool area, most important - clean, comfortable bathrooms & showers. Stay in the channel carefully the whole way to the dock as it gets very shallow very quickly.
Docking was easy, assistance provided with special attention given to keeping our group of 7 boats together. Facilities were very clean. Pool was very clean. Use of grill and a table was provided. Shuttle to town was available and driver was very good. Would not hesitate to return.
Dock attendants were plentiful and very helpful. Our club was 13 sailboats at this point in our cruise and the marina was very acccommodating. Most of us were attached to their T docks. We ate at a local restaurant near the marina. Relatively long wait but good food. We were off the next day for Port Jeff. We would likce to visit Cedar Island again.
Always a good place to stop. Courteous dockhands and excellent accommodations.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The dock was well equipped, clean, and well maintained. Fantastic Marina.
Everything was good, nice pool, clean restrooms, great dock master.
Great staff, beautiful property and nice amenities. If you draw more than 5ft, I recommend coming in at high tide. The channel into Clinton is very shallow. We read .5ft at one point, about an hour before low tide. We ate at Liv's Dockside Grill right down the street. Good burgers and fries.
The marina was beautiful, the staff, excellent. Numerous restaurants to choose from. My only issue was the allowance of political signs. Some marina's, Strong's, in Mattituck, NY for instance, do know allow any political signs to be flown. I think that is a great policy, because, people like to forget about certain things when they are trying to enjoy themselves.
Beautiful marina. Very nice to transient boaters. More amenities than any marina we’ve stayed at. Very clean. Plenty of restaurants. Overall a great place. Great Marina. Will return
The world is a better place because of the owners and staff at Cedar Island Marina. We were transients, schedule to stay one night at the marina to continue our journey home to FL. During the night my wife fell inside our boat and seriously injured herself. The staff and owners at the marina loaned us their car, helped us find a hospital and allowed us to stay as long as needed for her recovery. We were their 3 Weeks... They were closing the marina! They never hesitated in letting us stay and made us feel like family! We needed work done to the boat and we used their staff to coordinate. The work was first rate and we could not be happier. The marina is clean, walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants. The marine store is well stocked and had most of the parts I needed in stock and if not they could order them. We will be back as they made a horrible situation for us turn into a true testament of kindness and professionalism that made us loyal clients for life.
my wife left a review but I just wanted to echo the sentiment about how well we were treated at Cedar I by the staff and specifically the mechanic Ted. we were made to feel like family and he seems like one of the most knowledgeable mechanics I have ever met.
We came on our 32' searay and had unexpected engine issues. I just wanted to thank Teddy and the service department for their prompt attention to us so that we could resume our trip. The marina facility is great and the staff is so nice and helpful. I am excited to come back during the summer next year!
Great marina, clean restrooms and showers. Nice pool and hot tub. Great restaurant.
This marina was top notch. The pool was awesome complete with a snack bar, burgers sandwiches wings ect, live music and crafts for the kids. The kids play area was awesome but we were so busy at the pool my kids didn’t play in the area. Showers were clean staff was very nice. I didn’t realize just how big of a marina it was, and the walk from the dock to the pool was a bit of a walk but totally fine. I think I will pack sneakers for next time but we will totally go back next season. My kids loved it and we had a great time
Awesome The dock staff was the best I've ever encountered They helped get us settled and when the shuttle into town closed down they drove us in to a store for supplies Hugest recomendation but stay in the middle of the channel !!!!!
All staff was very helpful it was our first time staying there. Had to Spend an extra night due to weather. Patrick was very helpful and made Our stay enjoyable even though we had to move sports three times they made it Convenient for us.. gas dock was helpful and the breakfast burritos were awesome! Definitely will be back!
Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean pool and bathrooms. Town of Clinton is a short dinghy ride up the Indian river. We met some good people and will be back again next season
Facilities were nice, very helpful dockhands and generally very family-environment.
Another great stay here! Staff is wonderful and the dock is very friendly. Pool is awesome - music and even bingo!
Mostly good, except for the homesteaders on F dock who claim their territory with couches, chairs, and dogs, partying loudly til late, trying to intimidate those walking through their party area, and not controlling the dogs, one of which attacked my leashed dog as I walked through. Dock hands were VERY good. Amenities were good.
Courteous staff, very attentive, clean Marina, very professional. Thank you we will be back.
Great facilities. Park like setting - pool, playground, volleyball, bocchi and more. Casual price friendly restaurant is a minute walk from marina. Friendly culture (staff and slip holders). Easy access to fuel and pump out. Well stocked ship’s store on property. Grocery a 1-1/2 away. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay at Cedar Island Marina. It was just for one night so we didn’t see everything that was available. The restaurant on site was very busy but the staff was prompt and the food was tasty. The channel was well marked, our draft is 5 feet so the Dockmaster advised us to enter at high tide. Luckily our timing was on and we arrived about an hour before and we had plenty of water under the boat. The channel is close to the fuel dock so stay to starboard and the boats on mornings to port on the way in. I’m happy to have stayed and will return again. Call ahead the marina staff is very helpful!
This is a great Marina that is very family oriented. They have a great pool and grilling area. The dock staff is awesome and very responsive. The facilities are in excellent shape and very clean. The harbor is easy to navigate with clearly marked entrance. This is a place to make a visit to for sure.
Thank you Cedar Island Marina Service Department for looking at my boat right away even though they seemed swamped with work. You were able to let me get back on my trip and we are very appreciative of you guys! Thanks again! As Arnold says, "I'll be back!"
Had a wonderful stay. The dockstaff was very professional. The pool was nice and warm and seems to be recently renovated!
EXCELLENT stay! Great facilities and dock staff was first-rate! Look forward to coming back!
Great place nice people. G. Dock is the place to be. We used the dingy, paddle boards, pool and hot tubs. Great restaurants very close
I was very impressed with Ted from the mechanical department. He is by far one of the most knowledgable mechanics I have ever met. It was the off season so I did not get a chance to experience the marina amenities, but it does seem like they have a lot here. The staff was great though! The dock boy Alex, couldnt have been nicer and was very professional.
Very good off season rates. Bathrooms were very nice and clean for October. They gave me a ride into town to provision up.
Great marina. Dock hands could be a bit more attentive. Wind was blowing pretty good and dock hand was inexperienced. Thankfully I had some friends that arrived earlier and were able to help with the lines. Overall, great place. Definitely going back.
The redone pool looks great! The bus driver gladis is still there after all these years!
The place is clean and well organized. Pity that we had various neighboring (and raucous) long-term slip holders partying, with music blasting, until 12am, when we had to kindly ask the noisiest of them to continue the party elsewhere, given that we had a toddler and a 5-year old on board. As a marina that promotes itself as being family-oriented, I’d expect stricter rules on late-night noise or a designated, quieter area for transients.
Fantastic staff. Some of the facilities are a little older, but very well kept. The pool area and fitness center looked brand new. They will take you anywhere in the Town of Clinton you want for free with a courtesy shuttle bus - you need to ask the main office for a ride. Approach was a little narrow, but well marked and very deep
They were short staffed because it was the off-season, but I called them 20 minutes before I came in and they had a very nice employee from their service staff down there to give me a hand. Their off-season rate is very good and even though it was a little wet from the rainfall, the bathrooms were immaculate. The Town of Clinton does not have a lot to do, but it is very quaint and pretty and certainly worth a walk. It is about a 10 minute walk into town from the marina, it is flat and through a very cute neighborhood. Their shuttle bus is not running, but on request someone from the office picked us up in the center of town.
Marina and facilities were great, and more importantly staff was very accommodating. special thanks to mechanic who helped us with mechanical issue.
Would have given 5 stars if they weren't short-staffed for the holiday weekend. Although the staff were very nice and helpful, they use a lot of college-age persons to run the show and as a result of school having already begun, some amenities were closed like the pool side snack-bar Also, they have charcoal grills for transients, but don't sell or provide charcoal which makes it impossible to grill unless you go shopping in town, which they did offer to provide transportation. The pool is advertised as heated, but definitely wasn't above 80 degrees, which made it refreshing but a bit tough to get into. The restaurant on site is excellent and fairly priced, but plan on a wait during the dinner hours as they don't take reservations. Local marina folks are very friendly for the most part and very willing to lend you a grill or take a line during landing. All in all, great marina with just about anything anyone could want. I'd definitely go back again with my own charcoal and fluid.
A very nice marina. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We visited Cedar Island marina for the first time last week aboard our 29' cruiser named "Freedom." We had heard good things about the marina from one of our boater friends and decided to go see it for ourselves. Cedar Island was the last stop for us in this year's boating vacation following earlier stops in Block Island, Martha's Vineyard, Mystic Seaport, Essex and Old Lyme. Upon arriving at the slip we were greeted and assisted by a very friendly dockhand Vinny and a dock neighbor who helped us get situated in our slip. We found the docks to be in excellent condition as was the AC power quality and WiFi signal strength. The pool and bathrooms were very clean and well maintained as was every aspect of the marina we encountered. Dockmaster Marc was very courteous and helpful when it was time to check out and seemed genuinely interested in our opinion of the business. It is very difficult for me to think of anything the marina should improve. We will definitely be visiting Cedar Island marina again!
Had an excellent stay after a less than satisfying experience with Pilots Point!! Great marina and will be back.
Great marina with lots of things to do- even outlet malls. The night we were there it was thundering so basically stuck in boat.
Protected and calm Marina. Great facillities including a pool, and game room. Highly recommend for a multi day stay with the family
Great place to stay, everyone was friendly and professional. Needed an emergency boat repair, of course on a weekend, first thing Monday morning, they replaced the water pump on my motor and we were on our way. Top notch service.
Very well run marina with friendly staff, great pool and activities. Bathrooms are very clean.
Dockmaster Marc is always so helpful year after year when we come in to Cedar Island Marina. He always takes care of our requests. We are always so happy to see him. The upgrades on the pool are fantastic as well. Keep up the good work guys!
I'd go back, nice jumping off point for L.I. destinations.
This marina is tucked away behind the Cedar Island peninsula (I was told it used to be an island). It is one of the most pretty, "New Englandy" feeling areas that we have been to. We berthed for two nights during the week and found the facilities and personnel to be top notch. We will come back
My boat information clearly indicates a draft of 6’. I was assigned a slip with a low tide depth of 5’. I told the dock master upon tying up and he just said that that was the only slip he could give me. Bottom was mud/sand so I was able to stay, but had to time my departure at 7:00am so as to be able to get out. I don’t think this is acceptable.
Great Marina, friendly and helpful staff. Clean heads and excellent restaurant that is an easy walk to. Great playground for the kids and a neat little dog park. Have to get to pool early to get a spot, don't be surprised to find many chairs spoken for.
There were many changes since the last time we have been here. The bathrooms pool and their boater lounge area seem to be renovated. The staff was very helpful, they noted that the main channel is being dredged this June but we did not have any issues coming in.
A welcoming family owned facility. The mechanic staff were very accommodating
They accommodated us very late in the season. I usually dont leave reviews but we felt they really went above and beyond
Very nice harbor and great facilities. Had an issue and the mechanics put us ahead of the list to get us back out as we were traveling. Great guys and very professional.
Great facilities. Ben the dock master couldn't have been more accomodating
Stayed here twice, once during the summer and once at the beginning of October. This most recent time, dock boy Ben assisted us and really made our stay enjoyable.
A favorable off-season rate coupled with an above average stay. We couldnt be happier with Cedar Island Marina!
Really beautiful location. This area is exactly what we were hoping for to find a little New Englandy town that is off the beaten path. The harbor is very pretty and the employee that took care of us, Chris, was very nice and knowledgeable.
Really exceptional stay at Cedar Island Marina. They have a brand new dog park that our dogs had a fantastic time playing in! We travel often and have never seen a dog park at a marina, it's such a great idea!
We LOVE this Marina! Sean is fabulous! The whole team at the docks were great. The facility is fun with the pool and restaurant right there. Fuel dock was easy and accessible. Entering is way easier then it looks on the charts. This will definitely be a regular stop for D. Macs' on our annual summer cruise.
Super attentive staff, nice restaurants & best lobster roll next door at Lobster Landing. I would give it 5 stars if the docks were in better shape.
facility is complete with pool , hot tub ,showers and restaurant ... very big slips ... some long walks from one side to the other but that is the only con ... the rest is all good .. including nice friendly staff .. thanks for a great weekend
We spent a very enjoyable night at Cedar Island - just a stop-over on our way up Long Island Sound. The entrance channel is a little scary at first because there are no buoys shown on the chart, but in fact it's well marked and we had no problem coming in or out. I called the marina on the VHF on our way in and they came right up with detailed directions to our slip. Sean was waiting for us at the dock to help with lines & shore-tie as well as information about the marina and the local area. This is a nice marina with floating docks that are in good condition, a friendly & helpful staff, in a well protected harbor. We'd definitely stop there again.
I’m not one to usually take the time to write a review, but Cedar Island Marina isn’t just another marine. We’ve been there a few times before to stay with our boat and always had a great time and the staff has always been so nice! This time we stopped and stayed the night because of rough seas on our way back from Block and we had a diagnostic alarm going off on one of our motors. Not only were they accommodating with a slip, but Dave in the service department came right down to the boat to see what was going on. He then came back the next morning to replace 2 bad sensors. This guy and this place are the nicest we have ever encountered in our 5 years of boating. I highly recommend making Cedar Island Marina a stop at some point during your trip!! Tim & Dani Moore
Marina was very nice, Heated Pool, Hot Tub with music on Saturday. Awesome french fries at the snack stand at the pool. Aqua restaurant on property was really good food with a great connected ice cream shop. Local Knowledge, the first 3 sets of buoys as you enter from the sound, stay close to the Red Buoys when entering and leaving shoaling near the green buoys. Walked the town of Clinton not much there, only a couple of Antique stores.
We had a lovely stay at Cedar Island Marina. We are very appreciative of the extra care the staff took with us. These guys do it right!
I came here with a friend last weekend and am amazed at how we didn't know of this place before. We met a wonderful shuttle bus driver named Glady's whom my father in law loved. She took us up the street to the stores in town entertaining us throughout the whole ride. We had a great stop here and will absolutely be back
One of the cleanliest, most well kept marinas we have been to. Bathrooms were immaculate. Docks are in very good shape and easy to pull up to. Dock hands were professional and well trained. Pool and Jacuzzi was clean and operational. Well run.
Approach into the marina is one the most beautiful we have done. The channel is a little narrow, but its well marked and plenty deep. The employees are all around great and made us feel very welcome. There is a lot to do at the marina and there is some good shopping at the Clinton Crossing Mall.
A fantastic stay. The staff was very good and the live music at the pool was great. We will be back
Has all you need: pool, bathrooms, ship store, baci court, etc. Docks are a bit old and worn but functional. Very nice facility overall. Not much to look at since the entire length of the waterfront is parking lot. Had a great meal at Aqua with a super view. Would come back here again.
Cedar Island Marina is a first rate marina. We stayed here over their Calypso weekend and could not have been happier with our stay. I cannot say enough good things about their dock staff. Dock hand Sean could not have been any more helpful-he was able to re-arrange the days dock plan to accommodate us on with our group. When greeted at the slip it was obvious he knew what he doing because he handled our lines with ease and was able to get us in the slip easily (even told me husband which engines to back in with!) They have a great pool, and staff that runs it! It feels as if the employees want to be there, everyone was so friendly. Would 100% recommend staying here!
We came in during a storm and the dock attendant did a great job. The off season rates here are very good. The Town doesn't have a lot to do, but it is very pretty and "New Englandy".
Normally, with its great restaurant, pool, laundry, ship's store, etc., I would give the place 5 stars. However, when I arrived (I had a reservation) the fuel dock was abandoned and nobody responded to radio calls. I docked myself and was told that since it was after Labor Day, all of their staff either were calling in sick or went back to school. They at least reduced the dockage rate.
Best place ever! Sean and Al are so nice. We stopped over in Mid August and they were so helpful.
Very courteous staff. Clean facilities. Skinny entry in low tides. Follow the markers favoring the reds.
Very nice stopover while traveling through Long Island Sound
I honestly made an account just to review this marina. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I had some problems with my boat and the mechanic Teddy dropped his other jobs to take care of us. I have been boating my whole life and I think he is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable mechanics I have ever met. Everything else at this marina is nice too. The rest of the staff, the grounds, the view from the dock - all A++ - Bernard Joshings, Norwalk, CT
We come to this marina every year in our 40ft Silverton. The staff is exceptionally nice and helpful while the facilities are very well kept and clean. Its a perfect midpoint between Newport and where we live (just outside of NYC).
Lots of room, nice docks, good amenities. All the basics are here.
