Situated on the southern shore of Cape Cod, Osterville is one of the most scenic and idyllic harbors in Massachusetts, and is part of the seven-village scheme that makes up Barnstable proper.

Most all of the boating activity in Osterville is centered on the east side of Little Island and in West Bay, where a large anchorage and yachting fleet opens up to the town’s yachting facilities beyond the drawbridge (15-foot closed vertical clearance). Two large yachting facilities dominate the scene and most any marine repair can be done here.

Osterville is reached through a narrow 6-foot-deep channel that leads in from Nantucket Sound through West Bay, and then onto North and Cotuit bays beyond the drawbridge (15-foot closed vertical clearance).

The west entrance to Cotuit Bay from Nantucket Sound is only four feet deep and is only recommended for vessels with extreme shoal drafts and dinghy exploration only.

Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines at the Barnstable Municipal Airport services direct flights to and from Boston, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. There are other airlines with direct flights to and from Newark and New York.

Plymouth & Brockton Bus Company provides hourly, scheduled motorcoach service between Logan Airport, downtown Boston, Plymouth and throughout Cape Cod. Charter services available. There are other bus companies providing service from New York, Providence and other locations.

Full-service marine facilities are offered for pleasure craft. There is daily ferry transportation to and from Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket from Hyannis, on Steamship Authority or on Hy-Line (Martha's Vineyard service is available May through October).
