Nantucket is wonderful after Labor Day. Got an excellent mooring right outside the town docks entry to the dinghy dock. Very friendly help finding our mooring from the work boat gentleman. Town should fix up its bathrooms. The public bathrooms are good in the boat basin though. Dinghy dock is packed. Bring a long dock line. Overall a delightful stay.
Arrival instructions to our slip were very clear and helpful as it was our first time here. If you have a dinghy on the stern and go in stern to, you need to take it off to access the bulkhead ladders. There was no help docking. The harbor was very still so was able to easily handle. With just wife me I. Water and electricity worked well. Easy location to access whole island from. After Labor Day so really nice and not crowded.
Very attentive staff answered all calls on ch 69 right away and great launch service. Easy to find mooring. Clean shower/restroom. Always nice to be in Dutch harbor.
Dock staff was great and helped us in to a tight berth with great skill. Good location too. Live music to serenade us to sleep only a few feet away at the nightclub.
Great stay at Payne’s. Docking worked just as instructions said with great help from the dock hands. Very bad storm that night had to check bumpers and lines several times. Found out the next day that you can ask for bumper boards that straddle your bumpers and allow you to slide up and down the fixed dock pilings more easily without worry about bumpers missing the piling. Cliff Payne was very accommodating letting us stay until the seas and wind died after check out time for no charge. Will be back!
