While West Wind Marina is home-port and the favorite destination spot for some of the world's largest Mega Yachts, we also cater to the comforts of many different types of yacht and boat owners, from sport fishing to sail boat owners.
Whether you're a captain, crew member, family on a vacation or group of friends traveling together, your needs and comforts are handled by a highly experienced professional staff that will take detailed care of your vessel, guests, crew, family and friends and will insure your experience at Waite's Wharf is first class. Waite's Wharf is home to not only West Wind Marina but also to one of Newport's finest restaurants, a premiere nightclub, a private lounge for our marina guests and a fabulous event schedule. You won't need to leave the wharf to look for fun!
Great spot late season but the dockmaster was still there to help, good location in town!
Good location, friendly and helpful staff; but the fixed docks make it difficult to properly manage the tide and if on the outside face the wind can be brutal on your boat against the pier (I had a fender pop and another one ruined).
Chris was able to squeeze (literally) us in on short notice due to weather. Very helpful staff!
We got rocked around the wind from the west south west pretty tuff
Great dock staff, they do an excellent job using all of the available space.
Great staff. Nice facility with easy access to town.
Dock hands and staff were excellent. There were many boats the weekend we were there so it was a bit tight coming in and out.
Great location. Really enjoyed our stay.
Christian is friendly and helpful GM. Dock quality marginal and area around the marina rather desolate. Safe it provided access to town but not much more.
We had a brief 3-hour stay at West Wind Marina, and everything went smoothly. The approach was easy, and the marina provided excellent instructions over the radio. The dock staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Although we didn’t use all the facilities, the marina looked clean, well-maintained, and inviting. The location is perfect for exploring downtown Newport. West Wind Marina will definitely be our go-to spot whenever we visit Newport.
Very nice, professional and very helpful with docking and vert nice facilities.
Great spot. Friendly and helpful crew.
Great location, great service
Decent location tight is you have a larger boat… horrible facilities (bathrooms are disgusting). A bit overpriced
Great place to stay. Marina manager Christian was top notch! He keeps everything running smoothly no matter weather conditions. Marina was clean, dock crew was friendly and helpful and it’s a dog friendly marina too! Easy walk into town. We will definitely be back.
The town is great, the staff at the marina are very attentive and there when needed. Great restaurants also
Everything was great! Christian and his crew did a great job
Amazing staff they do a great job. Just watch out for the late night parties that are created by somebody else they will run till after one in the morning .
We were only there for the afternoon, but everything was great. Very responsive staff. We will definitely return.
Nice marina with great dock master and dock hands very helpful both on arrival and departure.Decent bathroom facilities and secured marina. Will visit them again!
Loud music until 1am at club on dock, the facilities are shoddy, but the dock crew is excellent. Shout out to Christian and his crew.
Always enjoy West Wind Marina.
We have been here many times in the past. This is a good Marina and very convenient to town. Christian and Lewis and the other dock crew are great. It can be a little noisy with the live entertainment but we enjoy that. Nothing earplugs well resolve if you want to go to bed early.
Christian and his dock crew were skilled and friendly, very responsive. We were packed in tight, Mediterranean style, but it was Fourth of July weekend so I’m glad they could get us in. They did a great job getting us in and out, and tying the boats up with good fender. Great location near the downtown action.
Dock master and dock hands were great but loud band noise until 1:00AM was ridiculous. Ask if the band is playing. Before you reserve.
Dock staff were great as we came in during Hurricane Lee and Reggie in the kitchen was amazing with food recommendations.
Great as always. Headed Over at the start of a tropical storm and they were waiting to get us in the slip safely!!!!! Always a great experience
Wonderful location with the most competent dock master, Alex / Serenity
Great staff (thanks Kayla!). Nice spot and secure docks. We’ll be back.
Kayla and Kate are amazing!!!!!! Great weekend
Excellent marina!!! From the moment we pulled in to the time we left Kayla and Kate were so helpful and accommodating….we’ll definitely be back for sure ❤️
Staff was great. Showers were not hot
Pros: great location, great Dockmaster Cons: not fancy, facilities just ok, be aware of shallows just outside marina
Our stay at West Wind Marina in Newport couldn't have been better. Right off the bat Kayla and the girls got us into our slip with ease. Tied us up perfectly. It's in a great location. In the midst of great dining, shopping anything you need. 👍👍
Wonderful. Perfect location. Experience deck hands very capable !
Staff is amazing. Location very good. Waters calm. Club next door very loud until 1am.
Thank you! We couldn't have found safe harbor in a better place. Thank you Kayla for your professional courtesy and kindness. Clean ample facilities, secure floating dockage, well protected. Easy walk in to town, enjoyed some delicious Thai food and re-provisioned. Highly recommend, added bonus a puppy fix with Mr. Trip on staff labradoodle.
Had such a nice time staying here that we extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights. Located just passed the very busy section of town, and convenient to everything. Kayla the dockmaster and her team were amazing. Definitely will stay here again.
Excelent, very good, wxcelleny
Caught the last two days of a pre-season rate deal which made an appropriate cost / value for this dock. Also we arrived after Memorial Day weekend so dockmaster & staff were off for the day, which they did tell us about ahead of time and we are ok docking ourselves. We stayed during the week, so the adjacent bars & disco were deserted and we didn’t experience any of the noise or party-bar associated issues others have mentioned. The bathrooms and showers are roomy and very clean. However there was no hot water so the shower experience was disappointing. Docks are at the far south of the Marina District but everything was walkable within a mile or so and we enjoyed poking about the other wharves. If we had paid full price we would have been dissatisfied because of the lack of amenities, hot showers and the rough condition of the docks themselves. However, for Newport, it was a good price for dock space.
First time here. Marina staff, Kayla, was excellent. Night club music way too loud. Drunk obnoxious people in boat next to me ridiculous. Now understand why marina has a bad reputation.
Kayla is always very helpful, we once again had a great stay. We even took our dinghy over to Goat Island for dinner. Great spot to dock and easy access to all of Newport.
Dock staff was great and helped us in to a tight berth with great skill. Good location too. Live music to serenade us to sleep only a few feet away at the nightclub.
First, I want to acknowledge that the staff is very good at West Wind Marina. However, this marina needs upgrading in order to justify $7 per foot, even for Newport. i was here about three years ago and very little has changed for the better. The docks had perhaps 2% of the decking replaced but really needs 100% replacement. The bathrooms really need to be redone. We were prepared to hear music from the club until closing time but there were two sources of music, one from the club and one from the bar and grill that competed. The worst was the private party on one of the big yachts (Reset) that may be a seasonal tenant. They took over when the club closed with some really obnoxious music. It required my going over at 2:45 AM to get some relief and that was not really satisfactory until 3:00 AM. The security is good here considering the night club and the bar and grill on the property. The location is good. It is not far from the heart of Newport.
Staff was wonderful, helpful docking! However, there is a dance/disco club that starts at 9pm and goes until 1am! Our slip was sitting right in front! Loud is not enough to describe the decibels! Other reviews said loud this is beyond loud, can’t sleep loud in cabin with air conditioner on and tv at full volume! There is a restaurant right next to the dance/disco club and they have music also which plays simultaneously until restaurant closes!
Staff was great and very helpful and accommodating.
Very helpful staff and a great location tucked in Newport Harbor. When the staff come to catch the lines they know what they are doing, which is not the case everywhere,
Great service, called and staff was waiting at dock to help us. A little tight to get into but nice a calm, easy walk to main strip. Restaurants and bars at end of dock closed.
Very professional staff. The Dockmaster was working quickly in a busy environment .. she made sure all the boats were treated with respect. I don't do dockspace often, but this place would be high on my list for another Newport visit.
AVIOD AT ALL COST!!! Terrible experience! The dockmaster Kayla was very rude and unconcerned about our issues..Still waiting for their response a month later.(email or call) 1.booked a 3 day stay.. we had no idea we would be next to a club. The gates gonthrough the club/area which made it impossible to leave the boat without going through the hundreds of drunk patrons; some who seemed convinced that they should be taking their drinks down to the boat. Eventually settling on tossing beer cans on deck and yelling expletives when we didn't oblige. This made for an uncomfortable night, with everyone locked inside scared to do anything but go to bed. 2. I fortunately got to see Kayla Grant that morning and even while I was handing her some of the beer cans thrown on board, she was very dismissive and tried convincing me that "maybe we drank them or they must have fell" onboard!!! After which she left and refused to even appilogize. 3. We payed for 3 days but only got to stay 1 night. We went out the next morning but soon learned that the spot was "taken" (less than 2 hrs) Again no communication from the marina. 4. After calling and sending emails to the marina, it became more obvious that they simply don't respect patrons, their safety or concerns. Find any other marina.. and if none available, probably best to find a moring ball or anchor..anything but that place!
Great stay at the marina ! The staff was friendly and helpful at the dock. Bathrooms were clean. The atmosphere was fun! Thank you ! We will be back!
If Westwind were not in Newport, it would no longer be in business! Have had reservations confirmed and then canceled, days apart, two years in a row. Last year was the day of arrival. After voicing our displeasure this time the employee became defensive and unwilling to make it right. If you enjoy rude customer service, and from what I read disgusting bathrooms, this is your place. One star was for location, because that's all this place has to offer.
Noise at night was horrible. No laundry as advertised. Toilet shower area was not great.
Very enjoyable stay . Convenient to stores and restaurants .
Very rowdy area. 25-yr-old drunks all around the docks from 10pm - 2am. Be careful.
Second stay. Easy access in front of Little Ida day beacon with plenty of water (we draw 7 feet). Very accommodating team. Quiet night with beautiful views of Newport. If you plan to stay during the summer and now that COVID is under control, be advised the marina is right next to a night club. WiFi is in transition and basically non functional. We had to extend due to engine problems and the marina staff were again very accommodating.
Great marina. Dock hands were great and pleasant. Will be back next year!!
From the minute we arrived the crew treated us like family and our boat as if it was theirs. Friendly, respectful, courteous... The marina had all the amenities we needed, the bar and restaurant was great and an easy walk to great shops and the heart of Newport. Everything made for such a relaxing weekend, could not have been better! Thank you!
Excellent Marina located right off of Thames Street within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Fantastic courteous friendly staff was right there to help tie up and let go. Very accommodating. Expect to go back next season.
West Wind and it’s people are always a delight. Newport is at its best in the fall, thinner crowds, better service in the restaurants. Easy walk to our favorite food and drink.
Wanted easier access to land than from dinghy for a week after getting total hip replacement. This was just what we needed with the one caveat that, like every marina in Newport, it is outrageously expensive. No shower or toilet due covid. Dockmaster was great.
Excellent stay:) close to town. Wifi was excellent. Thank you Luca
Marina was fine and staff great, but the three loud bars with bands blaring music and drunks kept us awake until all hours
They are always professional and helpful. A+ for West Wind from The Resiliensea
Great service and great location in a great boating town.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean facilities.
Service was great. Bathrooms are ok, not great. The only reason it’s not a 5 is because it’s kind of a party scene here. Thumping music all night long at a dance club next to the dock. The best part was there was space when Newport was otherwise full.
Dock hands were great. A little interesting getting into their basin, but we had good guidance over the radio. Dock hands were very helpful with tie up, power, water, etc. Reviews from 2017 and 2018 mentioned that the restrooms needed updating. I did not see any mention in 2019 reviews so I was hoping that was taken care of. Sadly, the restrooms/showers are not up to Newport standards, or even what I would expect from any marina. Also, the restrooms should be checked a few times each day to ensure that supplies do not run out. Updating the restrooms would seem to be a good winter project. It would move this review to 5 stars. Other reviews mentioned the night club (The Dock), and yes it is loud, but it was not a problem for us as we were at the far end of the marina. We did have lunch there and were pleased. The marina is at the south end of downtown and we were very pleased with the shops and restaurants in the immediate area. Sunday were went up to the Banister Warf area which was packed with tourists. If you are looking to relax, this is a good area.
Great experience on out first stay . helpful dockhands and staff . Enjoyed the sunset , will be back , thanks , crew of the CDP
This marina is a hidden gem in Newport. Great location, good restaurant, hot night spot and an outstanding crew that is friendly and efficient.
Very loud music till 1:00 am. Very nice and friendly staff but very loud night club on premise. Beware if you want to sleep before 1:00 am.
Great experience staying at West Wind. Everyone who works there is great. Very much enjoyed our time there.
It was excellent. The dock staff are so helpful and friendly. We had an excellent on the side of our friends as promised.
With over thirty thousand miles at sea under my belt I will say that weatwind marinas bathroom facilities are the worst I have ever seen. They are like an El savadoran prison. When you pay the same as the other marinas in Newport you expect clean and modern showers. They are cinderblock dirty walls, torn curtains and moldy and dirty. I will never go back here. If you are fine with dirty showers and bathrooms and loud music from the bar this is the place for you.
Great Stay. Helpful dock hands. Great Music @ The Deck. Facilities clean
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Great location and restaurant next door. Could use a renovation of bathrooms and showers. Nice place.
Good slips, nice protected area. Little funny where the pedestals were (up high off the floating dock on the boardwalk behind), but not an issue. People were very nice. Facilities were fine, but could use some sprucing up. Be aware it's literally right next to a club and a bar. Wasn't loud on Thursday night, but I assume it would be loud Fri/Sat. Would stay again.
Horrible! Dock master was unprofessional and not very pleasant. Glad we left after only one day. Bathrooms filthy, marina needs to be updated. Will. Never go back
The dockmaster was rude and unprofessional. Would NEVER go back.
The marina staff were very helpful and courteous. The only negative was the loud music at the adjacent nightclub.
Great, West wind is such a pleasant change from the other Newport Marinas. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, very private location tucked away off the main Thames street area, very relaxing.
marina staff was very helpful, even on a busy weekend. music can be a bit loud but ended promptly at 1am. excellent power and water. great view and location in town.
Staff was friendly and accommodating - got a great slip. Location on lower Thames Street is perfect for many shops, restaurants, etc. Some issues: bathrooms need some renovations; marina is located on same property as a restaurant and bar, which were quite loud, until late.
