On 8/9 our crew member had an injury while boarding the boat in Dutch Harbor, Jamestown. Dutch Harbor contacted Newport Harbor Hotel Marina to arrange for us to dock to have our crew get to the ER. Newport Harbor Hotel Marina crew were ready for our arrival, arranged for us to dock on a T-head to allow quick/easy crew disembarking to get to the ER. They helped to find the best location for Uber pickup, allowed us to stay until our crew returned from the ER and helped us find store locations for resupply of a few necessities. The dock crew were very friendly and helpful, and kind to allow us the few hours of dock time for urgent care.
We anchored in Dutch Harbor on 8/8/26. One of our crew was injured while boarding the boat from a dinghy. I called Dutch Harbor to ask about medical assistance. Linda suggested that Newport might be best for an injury. She called Newport Harbor Hotel Marina and arranged for us to dock at a T-head there. Linda called back to provide information. We sailed from Dutch Harbor to Newport Harbor Hotel Marina and their staff were ready and waiting to help us to dock for a few hours to allow our crew to get an Uber to the ER to get checked out (she had a minor arm break). I later called Conanicut Jamestown to reserve a mooring for the night. Turns out the same woman, Linda was manning the phone and asked how our crew member was doing. Linda was so very helpful and followed up to ensure that our crew was doing well. Amazing service!!!
When I contacted the marina as I motored into the harbor, the woman on the radio was very friendly and helpful. I wasn't prepared for tying up to pilings. It might have been mentioned in the email confirmation, but I'm not sure. Lesson to me to thoroughly read the confirmation email message.
