One of the worst experiences in decades of cruising the Bay and beyond. We had not been to Crisfield for several years. We needed directions to the entrance to Somers Cove. Our conversation with them on the VHF 16 was an experience in ineptness. (two watertowers? We only see one. What color is the one you see? Aren't they all gray?) until finally someone from the office took pity and called on my cell with better directions. We arrived at the fuel dock, which took forever to find (is it red? I think so) There we were greeted by four teenagers none of whom looked over 14, The Keystone Kops were better. Don't bother to ask for information in the office. No one knows anything. We did manage to rent a golf cart. Why, I don't know why since Crisfield is a dump. Most restaurants and stores are closed. The windshield fell off and there was a high pitched squeal no one could fix.
Booked a slip for 9/20/24 to 9/22. Spring Cove booked an indoor party on 9/21. Arrived with multiple lights flashing directly at our boat in a slip and others. When we spoke to the driver, he was extremely antagonistic towards us, a couple of sixty year olds! The party then continued. Very loud and long. There must be quieter marinas in Solomons especially one that doesn’t have a party room.
We particularly liked the powerwashing at the Tiki Bar at 7:AM accompanied by the loud cursing of the operator. We also liked the table set up blocking the ramp from the dock. Our favorite was the absence of anyone from the marina until noon. We arrived early around 10:30. Then we had to move because a 50’ needed our slip. We are 47’ LOA. The best was the dochand who called the lines “ropes”!
