Two interesting towns, and an exemplary launch service. We always enjoy our stay at Popes, and the towns of New Bedford and Fairhaven. As far as the marina, my only recommendation would be an enlargement of the showers. The showers are small and need more hooks for clothes, etc. The bathrooms are always clean, just a little in the shower stalls. The people are always very accommodating and helpful. The launch service employs terrific employees who are a wealth of local knowledge.
The amenities and service by the harbormaster here, is exemplary. The shower and lounge facilities are first rate. The launch crew is knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous. They actually called the crew from the boat next to us, when it was getting late. Instead of just going home, they called the crew to see if they were coming back and would need a ride out to their boat.
Really nice people and a reasonable price. Docks are fixed, wood and the ducks frequent them at night, as evidenced by their trail of white. That said, the marina is well protected from all winds and the staff is very accommodating. The showers and toilets are clean and a small laundry room is available. The dock price is half what you will pay just 20 miles south in the Annapolis area. Restaurants and groceries are about a mile walk.
Great people and a good facility. We stopped using Sandwich for fuel both north and southbound since we stopped here a couple of years ago. We now always stop for fuel and water and try to stay a night or two each way.
