Having the fixed structures heading out the first time can lead to the assumption that this is a piece of cake. While they make transiting in and out easier, there were 4 to 5 footers at the bar to contend with. Our 17 Montauk handled the crossing just fine. I wouldn't run this inlet with a 15 foot boat , a 17 or larger with an experienced coxswain should manage just fine. Learn this and every inlet you intend to cross on calm days Practice.

Since dredging last year it is a little safer. If waves are small, even 15-17 foot boats can get in and out with a little practice.
