About

Introduction:

The Ocean Avenue Bascule Bridge is located at Intracoastal Waterway Mile Marker 1035.0 in Boynton Beach. The bridge has a closed vertical clearance of 25 feet with 125 feet of horizontal clearance at the center span, which is almost the entire width of the Waterway here. The bridge operates on a restricted schedule, opening on the hour and half-hour.

Navigating the Bridge:

This is a fairly hassle-free section of the Waterway, and even during heavy traffic periods, the large horizontal clearance of this bridge allows for two-way traffic for all but the largest of vessels.

Depending on schedule, the bridge can be opened by horn signal (one long, one short) or by hailing the bridge tender on VHF Channel 09. (All bridges in the state of Florida must be hailed on VHF Channel 09.)

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
