The Hollywood Boulevard Bascule Bridge crosses the Intracoastal Waterway at Mile Marker 1072.2. This bridge has a 25-foot closed vertical clearance with 90 feet of horizontal clearance at the center span and has a restricted opening schedule. From Nov. 15 to May 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the bridge opens on the hour and half-hour. From May 16 through Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., except Saturday Sundays and Federal holidays, the bridge opens on the hour and half-hour.
As there are numerous marine facilities and marinas in this area, keep an eye open for departing boat traffic from dockside properties.
Depending on schedule, the bridge can be opened by horn signal (one long, one short) or by hailing the bridge tender on VHF Channel 09. (All bridges in the state of Florida must be hailed on VHF Channel 09.)
Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
