About

Introduction:

Listed as “Under Construction” on some fairly recent editions of local charts, the Hallandale Beach Boulevard Bascule Bridge does indeed exist at Mile 1078.0 on the Intracoastal Waterway. The bridge has a 22-foot closed vertical clearance and a restricted opening schedule (opens year-round on the quarter and three-quarter hour from 7:15 to 6:15 p.m., and on demand at all other times).

Navigating the Bridge:

The bridge is well fendered and wide at the center span, but keep an eye out for traffic entering from waterside condo and restaurant facilities. Depending on schedule, the bridge can be opened by horn signal (one long, one short) or by hailing the bridge tender on VHF Channel 09. (All bridges in the state of Florida must be hailed on VHF Channel 09.)

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
