The Camino Real Bascule Bridge is located at Intracoastal Waterway Mile marker 1048.2 and is heavily used by recreational boaters, especially on weekends. The bridge has a nine-foot closed vertical clearance with 85 feet of horizontal space in the center span. Camino Real has a restricted opening schedule and opens at 20 and 40 minutes past the hour.
Keep in mind that the current will reverse direction once you have passed Lake Boca Raton and the inlet. Depending on schedule, the bridge can be opened by horn signal (one long, one short) or by hailing the bridge tender on VHF Channel 09. (All bridges in the state of Florida must be hailed on VHF Channel 09.)
