Introduction:
Located on the West End of the island of Tortola, Sopers Hole is a delightful cove that lies behind Frenchmans Cay in the shadow of lush, green mountains with an idyllic tropical feel. Ashore on Sopers hole are a wide gamut of shops, markets and restaurants.
Navigating the Water:
Sopers Hole is deep and easy to enter, but a stiff current can sometimes be found here - keep an eye on your position as you enter. Enter from the west and make sure you keep a watch for arriving or departing boat traffic as you head in.
Along the south shore of Sopers Hole are the area marinas, each offering a different variety of services. Sopers Hole Marina, on the southeast side of the cove has the best facilities in the area with a large mooring field, transient slips and supplies. Pussers Landing is the next facility to the west, and features an extensive retail shop, restaurant and outdoor bar. Frenchmans Cay Marina is the first facility to starboard on entry and is equipped with lifts for haul-outs and related repair services. Also here are transient slips, moorings and anchorage space.
For those arriving in Tortola from areas outside the British Virgin Islands, there is a customs office on the ferry dock (north end of Sopers Hole), where you can check in and clear through.
