About

Introduction:

Point Breeze Harbor is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario about 36 miles west of Rochester and 55 miles southwest of Toronto. Inside the harbor are at least six marinas and good provisioning opportunities ashore. The Point Breeze Yacht Club accepts reciprocal members from other clubs.

Navigating the Water:

Use NOAA Chart 14805.

The Point Breeze Harbor inlet is protected by a complex of breakwaters that keep the water calm in stormy conditions. The outer breakwater, which runs parallel to the shoreline, has three lighted aids that help guide mariners into the harbor from Lake Ontario. On the western end of the stone breakwall is quick flashing white light “C,” in the middle is flashing white light “B,” and on the eastern end is quick flashing white light “A.” The inlet is approachable from the west or east side of the parallel breakwater, and you will find six-foot depths with either approach.

Once you have cleared the outer protective breakwater, line up to go in between the twin breakwaters that lead into Point Breeze Harbor itself. The east end is marked with flashing green “3” and the west end is marked with flashing red “4.” After clearing the inlet breakwaters and arriving in the harbor, all buoyage ceases. The channel is deep and wide all the way south to the eight-foot fixed vertical clearance bridge at the Point Breeze Yacht Club about a mile in.

Point Breeze Harbor is well-equipped with at least six marinas that offer some sort of transient slip service. Just to port on entry are two marinas with haul-out, transient slips, repairs and gas and diesel fuels. Farther on down the harbor are four more marinas, but two of them require passing under an eight-foot fixed vertical clearance bridge, limiting passage for some vessels.
