About

Introduction:

The Lubec River Channel is a narrow band of water that leads from Quoddy Narrows past the town of Lubec and Campobello Island, and then into Friar Rods farther north.

Navigating the Water:

Use NOAA Chart 13396.

The passage from Quoddy Narrows to Lubec is twisting, shallow and unreliable. The Coast Guard infrequently moves temporary buoys as the channel shifts, but these, too, are unreliable. Do not attempt this passage without prior local knowledge.

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
