About

Introduction:

The Indian River empties into the Atlantic Ocean through the Saint Lucie Inlet near Mile 0 of the Okeechobee Waterway, where the Saint Lucie River also ends its eastward journey toward the ocean. Just north of Great Pocket and south of the Ernest Lyons Bridge, this area is both complex and beautiful to navigate.

Navigating the Water:

Use NOAA Chart 11428.

The area surrounding the south terminus of the Indian River, Saint Lucie Inlet, Intracoastal Waterway and the Saint Lucie River is somewhat complex in regards to currents, shoaling and tidal changes, but it is well marked and easy to navigate when traversed with the proper charts.

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
