About

Introduction:

The San Antonio Canal is located off the northeastern portion of San Juan Bay, and contains the largest grouping of marine facilities in the San Juan area. Visible in the image above are a few points of interest. All the way back in the center of the image are the area’s two marinas: Club Nautico and San Juan Bay Marina. In front of the marinas is the anchorage area for the San Antonio Canal, and you can see the cluster of anchored boats on the side closest to the Isla Grande Airport. Out of the picture to the left is the large cruise ship terminal on Isla San Juan.

Navigating the Water:

The San Antonio Canal is approached from the west via the San Antonio Approach Channel. From San Juan Bay, first pick up quick flashing green “11” south of the Coast Guard station, and then proceed to the east past the cruise ship docks. Once you have cleared the cruise ship docks, you can work your way into the San Antonio Canal and farther back to the marinas and anchorage.

Club Nautico is a private marina with condominium-type slips, while San Juan Bay Marina is a full-service facility with gas and diesel fuels, showers/restrooms, laundry, and a 60-ton lift for haul-outs and related repair services. Anchorage is available in 30-foot depths in front of the marinas and the area is well-protected from most directions.
