Excellent marina-docks are floating and very well maintained, staff are excellent, the town is a wonderful place steeped in history. The free trolley ride is worth taking and the National Park for the battlefields was most informative concerning Generals Washington and Cornwallis. Ben and Jerry’s ice cream was too convenient and we were FORCED to go there three times.
I visited Riverwalk Landing this week and had a great experience. The staff is attentive, professional, and friendly, the docks are well-kept (I'd be curious to know how old they are - they look new!) and the surrounding area is a beach & park that is very safe, clean, and family-friendly.
What were they thinking? The town of Yorktown I mean. The docks are nice and the dock master is a very nice and helpful young man. But no one in their right mind would want to stay overnight at this marina because of the bridge. Unless you have ear plugs you'll never get any sleep. As the other reviewer mentioned, you have to walk to the other end of the "village" to get to the showers and locked bathrooms. Hello? Finally there are no stores within a two mile radius to get provisions. Stay across the river at the yacht haven on Sarah's Creek and boat across to the dock if you want to eat at one of the restaurants. A tragedy that Nick's was torn down ...
I have visited this marina on several occassions as a transient and find it to be an outstanding place to spend a weekend. Lots to do and see. Easy walk to the Yorktown Battle Field, several very good restaurants, historic and fun place to visit. The wine festival in October is one of the best. If I had any complaints it would be that the showers are a bit of a walk on a cold morning.
