The Docks at Downtown Hampton

Nice location, but the security is a bit lacking. Nothing happened other than a very loud argument late at night by someone in the nearby garage. The staff however is very friendly and helpful! Also their washer and dryer a very clean and easy to use.

We had a great stay here on our fall migration to southern waters. The staff (Danny and Rachel) were very helpful in getting us situated in our slip. The well protected docks and other facilities were very nice, as were the neighbors. Location is near restaurants, bars, shops and other walkable areas. Easy access into and out of Hampton river for north or southbound travel.

Danny and his crew provide excellent service. Always ready to help with dock lines or answer questions. Bull Island Brewing is next to the docks for cold beer and good fare. Showers clean and laundry available.

Always a great marina to stop and stay for a while. The dock masters are wonderful and so helpful. Highly recommend for anyone.

Nice dock with great staff. Easy to walk to many spots for entertainment and dining. VA air and Space museum is basically at the end of the dock. Will be a marina we return to.

Dock master, Dan, is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. He knows what cruisers need! There is a brewery at the dock and a nice walkable downtown very close by. Strongly recommend this marina!

We stopped here on our way North for a couple of days and ended up staying 2 weeks! Donnie and Alli are amazing, helpful and caring staff! We have enjoyed our time here. Will definitely stop here again!!

Picked up a slip on our way north, and were very happy with our stay at the Downtown Hampton Docks. Ally was great in getting us in, and the dock is in good shape. It's close to everything, including the science museum and many good restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!

Marina is in close proxemity to everything. The dockmaster and staff were very helpfull. We will be back I am sure.

Danny is a good host and very accommodating. When construction is complete it will be a 5 star. Nice easy walking area in town. Bull Island Brewery is literally steps away.

It was top notch. Very nice people, nice little dog park for our pup. Will come back again for sure. Short walk to museums, tons of restaurants.

Nice location, well protected with fantastic friendly staff. Lots to do in the area. Don't miss the carousel located at the opposite end of the marina.

Danny, the Dockmaster and his staff (Ally, etc) are extremely cognizant and intentional about providing excellent customer service. They go out of their way to ensure that the cruising guests are welcome and that their needs are met - as much as possible. They go the extra mile - i.e. they not only allow guests to send packages to the marina office, they actually deliver them to your boat. Their very pleasant demeanor and welcoming accommodating attitude are what make this marina — one of choice and excellence. When in the area, we will always choose Docks at Downtown Hampton.

The City Docks is in a fantastic location and has wonderful services, but the Dockmaster -Danny-is what makes marina the best!!! He is very professional, caring, and keeps the marina ship-shape. We love it here!

Great stay. The facilities are clean and exactly what we needed. The dockhands were uniformly helpful. And the location can’t be near. You’re smack dab in the middle of restaurants, a dog park, a great museum and good walks around the river.

Danny, the dockmaster, was superbly helpful. When we arrived, we could not connect with the new, "highly sensitive" electrical outlets. So, he helped us move to a dock that had "old" electric/shore power connections. Those worked like a champ. No fault of his that I, as well as other boaters, could not connect with the new shore power system. The heads and showers were dated, but at least the heads always had TP ... been to several marinas where noone would resupply the heads for days. A big "caution" is that there is no gate to access the marina, particularly at night. There would be individuals smoking, or drinking, or conversing with others, or simply just standing around the docks within a few feet of your boat late at night. The best thing about this marina is that it is in downtown Hampton where a lot of attractions are within walking distance.

Wonderful little gem. Stayed here four nights. Walked to restaurants, breweries, shopping, walking trails. Super friendly staff.

The folks there are nice. However, our slip was right in front of a parking garage - alarms were going off constantly - especially at night - screeching tires, horns blowing, alarms going off! It was difficult getting good night's sleep. The laundry "room" has 1 washer/1 dryer with no table or chair which would have been nice to have (so to place bags &/or to fold clothes). We stayed here because of the location which within walking distance to downtown, needed to do laundry and desperately needed to pump out. Unfortunately they put a huge sailboat right in front of the pump out. We did not feel comfortable backing into this sailboat to pump out as was suggested. This marina could be very nice but It is lacking...

The marina is wonderfull. Dockwa was horrible. They charged nearly twice the published price but the marina straightened it out. This is the third time this year we have used/tried to use dockwa and I have never been satisfied with it. Much better to call the marina and talk to them directly.

Great area. Clean restrooms and shower rooms; Bull Island Brew Pub right next to docks. They have loner bikes and it is easy ride to hardware store, Walgreens, 7-Eleven. NASA air and space center, IMAX theater, museum only about three block walk. Enjoyed staying here.

Great location. Docks in good repair. Docking assistant was excellent. Walk to several restaurants and museums. Brewery on site with good food and beer and live entertainment.

Very small docks, but in good conditions, running water was not working at our dock. Bathrooms need a good cleaning (mildew, smell)

Tina, dockmaster was very attentive and helpful and even helped us fine a tech to repair our radar on short notice!

The marina was in good shape and the staff helpful. My concern is that the finger piers are very short and there is no seaward piling between the slips. This put a great deal of strain on the hull where it contacted the corner of the finger pier. We deployed several fenders, however, if the wind had been strong on the beam, I would have been unhappy.

Tina is a great dockmaster in a very friendly town.

We enjoyed our stay in Hampton. There was a significant amount of construction on the marina building, it doesn't appear much if anything has progressed since February. Even with the construction, it did not impact the use of the facilities, restrooms or showers. Which were clean and orderly. I noticed the Hampton PD regularly walking foot patrol along the marina. We had a great time, Hampton has a lot to over, even for just a quick overnight stay.

Good stay. Quiet and a great brewery just behind the docks. There was no one to meet us and help tie up, but other than that a good stay. We've stayed here a few times and always like it. Easy access to downtown.

Great second visit! Easy in, and far enough down the channel to get rid of waves from the bay. Great staff! Came out in the rain to help us tie up. Love the Bull Island Brewery right behind the dock! Clean restrooms and showers. We were the only boat there for the night. We did have a "transient" checking out the boat about midnight, but a quick flash from a flashlight, and they took off. No issues otherwise.

Finger piers are too short and nothing between you and the boat next to you. Nice dockmaster and he wants the facility updated with longer finger piers.

One of the best deals on the Bay. May 2015 price is $1.25/ ft + $6 electricity. Downtown location convenient to restaurants and entertainment. Pay attention to the current when entering your slip. Current runs perpendicular to slips and can be significant. Worth the effort is cab to Moma Rosa's Restaurant in nearby Pheobus. Clean, inexpensive and excellent food.
