New Orleans Harbor |
SSH, it has nothing in terms of Amenities, we have no ship store, no laundry facilities, no fuel, no community center, no free Wi-Fi, no walking trails, no biking paths, no easy access to anything. Most days we have no guards here, but lots of facial recognition cameras for “Security “, and a security gate, that works most of the time, or it doesn’t. No onsite Harbor Master, so don’t expect one to be waiting when you get here when you need assistance docking. No Floating Piers here, so it’s quite dangerous leaping off your boat when the finger piers are under water(as they are today), lots of red tagged, derelict boats here, and boats in need of repair. The restrooms are Inadequate, with the Men’s room having only 1 toilet, and 2 urinals, with outdated heating/cooling, that may, or may not be operational. The drop off for packages here is a black metal box that sits behind the restrooms, which has proven to be a challenge while hunting down your packages. Forget about Amazon next day deliveries here, you’re lucky to receive them at all. The LMA board has used “Cease and Desist Notices” if they don’t like what you say during “Public” meetings here, so lots of good ole’ Southern corruption going on….We had an issue with a Male guard entering the female restroom, he’s still employed here…the Marina installed an “Occupied/inuse” to the door. Management did very little to resolve the issues, offering only to “file a police report with NOPD”, which would be a joke down here….The only positive to being here is the Lakefront Airport down the street, and only because I love planes, because you hear them and see them daily here. I’ve been in Marinas in Puerto Rico, the Grand Caymans, Pensacola,Fl, St Pete, Fl, St Augustine, Fl, and Houston, Tx, All of which have been so much better than where I currently am. So in conclusion, South Shore Harbor/Marina would be a good one to avoid, unless your dropping off your derelict boat to abandon it. Lots of promises here to better this place, but it’s just talk, with no action.
