Looking for an ideal marina to dock your boat? Located in picturesque Greens Harbor on the Thames river in New London CT, Thamesport Marina is the marina you've been looking for. Docking your boat at Thamesport Marina will allow you convenient access to local beaches, restaurants and entertainment. Thamesport Marina is a full service marina, offering boat slips, transient slips, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
Ducked in here to wait out some inclement weather. Good protection and Dockmaster Michael could not be more friendly and accommodating. Great restaurants nearby as well. Will be making this a regular stop on my seasonal migrations.
Great people, bit choppy on the outside wall and can someone please take the horns away from the train drivers đ
I have stayed here many times before and the place is clean and I will definitely be back. This year seemed very unorganized. There was no one really available to check us in just someone (no idea who it was and not a marina employee) saying to take any slip. When it came time to get fuel, we were told it would be open at 11:00 AM, we called at 1:00 and was told more like 2:00. By 2:30 someone was there.
The marina is a little tired. The staff is great, but the overall condition is not very good.
Very nice marina. Great staff. Nice floating dock will return on our next passage north.
UPDATE: stayed another 3 nights on our return passage. Manager & staff were helpful. Still no dock carts tho. Seemed like more wake action from passing ferries this time. Stayed on the floating transient dock for 3 nights. Marina manager was very accommodating. Dock is new and in great shape. 3 Restaurants & ice cream shop at top of the dock. We ate at âShellfishâ. Crab Bombs, Lobster Bisque, fish of the day and salad were all very good. Showers are new and very clean, could use some heat in there in cold months. Would have said 5 stars if there were laundry facilities. Only suggestion is to have some proper dock carts and am told they have been ordered! Would def return
We were delayed by bad conditions on our way home from vacation and booked here after 5 on a Saturday through Dockwa. The manager called promptly and staff helped us secure our boat at the dock, hooked us up with power, and made sure we were all set for the night. The manager was super friendly, accommodating, and responsive, the bathroom was clean and the price canât be beat.
For two days I tried to call the marina to adjust my schedule. Saturday and Sunday got only voicemail. When I arrived, no answer on Channel 9 or 68 as advertised and no answer on the phone - again - only voicemail. No dockside help, had to tie up unassisted. Finally got some help to refuel. Asked about a pump out but it is "broken". They asked if I had reserved a slip through Dockwa and I answered that I had and I had used the Dockwa messaging system to let the marina know I'd be in a day later. Blank looks all around. Later, I tried to get access codes and/or a Welcome Aboard package but got a back of the envelop (literally) note with the gate and head codes. Asked about WiFi and was told it was a joke. Tried it myself and it was useless. Overall shabbiness of the marina is discouraging and the two beleaguered staffers who obviously have no management help are demoralized beyond words. This marina will be lucky to continue in business. Really, no VHF comms and no telephone with an office CLOSED on Saturday and Sunday?? Sure, no one boats on the weekends! I won't be back.
We are docked at the inside bit of the floating dock. The dock is full of shells from birdies leftover meals. Bathroom needs more maintenance. Nonetheless itâs well priced and within our budget. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our neighbor boats been giving us fishes they caught. Still can be bit rolly due to wakes from speeding boats (not so much from ferry).
THEY DID NOT HAVE A 24 HOUR PHONE NUMBER - WE ARRIVED LATE AND HOW TO FEND FOR OURSELVES - NEEDS UPGRADING
Very nice staff. Clean docks. Damage to the boat!!! Unfortunately, the transient dock is impacted by the ferries driving by the marina. We have a Nordhavn which is a heavy boat. The wake came in so hard it threw our boat around and actually bent the cleat of our aft through hole which was tied off to the dock. We we were there approximately 2 hours and incurred somewhere around $1,500 in damage. Apparently, other boats have sustained significant damage as well. Maybe an inside dock would be ok? Stay away from the outside docks.
Friendly staff, clean new docks. Would return on our way south.
Theyâre little protection from all the ferryâs going in and out of New London. Very rolly.
best marina in the area, reasonable prices, .25 off per gallon of gas for slip renters, no bridges and only a mile to the sound!
Disaster! They should not have been allowed to call it a safe marina. We were slammed against the outside dock. We stayed 20 minutes till we were able to locate a safe marina in which to tie. Nearly all slips were vacant! When we called in on VHF we were first told the Marina had been sold and take any slip.
We got diesel and the price was great @ $5.89. The dock crew was very helpful and helped us secure up to the dock in the wind. The outer pier and concrete decked float looks brand new and the inner wooden docks are in good shape. We had water and 50A power. There is fine dining and a burger joint on shore nearby. The bathrooms were tough to find (at ground level under restaurant) but clean and newly done. We came across the owner and he was very friendly and personable.
It was ok, Cement docks were fairly new but full of bird poop.... this could've been because that pier was empty of boats. At the time the dock hand was friendly and accommodating but inexperienced. Even though it is in a no wake zone .... the local boaters seem to ignore the no wake rules. Fuel was very reasonably priced but I got scammed by the marina next door (Burr's) into coaxing me into buying their fuel and saying that Thamesport was not open. So be careful but buy the fuel from Thamesport ... it is in a better and calmer location. I would stop there again.
The staff is helpful. But they put us on a face dock that is exposed to wake from many passing ships. Very roly. After a day they put us on their fuel dock, which was better but had no services. The marina is small, exposed to a lot of passing traffic and has very little in the way of services. There are about four restaurants on the street next to the marina, none of them very attractive.
Awful. We arrived at 4:30 on a Sunday and no one answered when we hailed them many times. We also messaged them in Dockwa and phoned them multiple times. So we didnât know where to dock, the code for the security gate or bathrooms, WiFi password, etc. Many open slips so we just took one. No dock hands. First slip we tried had no cleats so tried another. Floating docks were new and very nice, but had bird droppings everywhere. Marina had many boats in disrepair and at least one that was sunk. I wonât even get into the dead eel nailed to a post. Fortunately the security gate had a hole in it so we could reach through to get back in. We made this reservation because it had a higher rating than others in New London. At $3 a foot, youâre probably looking for something better.
Brand new floating dock, active crew, shore power and water works fine, great hospitality, and four restaurants!
Great marina minutes away from downtown New London & Ocean Beach. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Great restaurants to eat at right on the marina too.
No one answered the phone or VHF. Docks were covered in bird poop, no combo for dock doors or bathroom provided and the bathrooms were in rough shape.
This gritty place was a grave disappointment. No staff members around to answer radio calls, no staff to help tie up boat. New dock was covered in shells and seagull droppings. Bad news.
Fine for 1 night as a transient. A lot of rolling and bathrooms are dirty. Restaurants close by are good, floating docks are new.
We got in rather late in the day, just looking for a place to get out of some weather on our way west in the Sound. The floating docks were quite new, bathrooms and showers were decent and clean, and the young lady who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. We left at first light next morning. We didn't use any other marina amenities but found the place to be good and as-advertised. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there as a destination, but wouldn't hesitate to come back again for a stopover.
Beautiful new floating dock - but we bounced all night. Two people helped us tie up which was great. The facilities were less than ideal - toilets out of order bathroom very dirty. Second visit there we hoped it would be better than last year. The dock was new and nice - nothing else was better. Wonât return.
We had a great stay at Thamesport Marina! The facilities are clean, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable and it is convienently located to many area attractions! We especially appreciated the new floating docks for transient boaters. We would definitely return.
Although the floating docks are new, they are littered with bird dropping and were never cleaned during a five day stay. Dock hand had very limited knowledge . The Marina is open to the heavy ferry wakes.
We had an awful stay. The marina electricity wasnât able to deliver our 50 amp needs so in addition to dockage fees, we had to run our generator. The person in the office was unaware of CTâs sales tax, so we were unable to verify our bill. We rocked & rolled the entire time we were there. I guess there were reasons we were the only transient t boat in the marina! We will not be returning to this marina.
Beautiful new floating docks that overlook the Thames River. We booked a slip for the Groton-New London fireworks show and had perfect viewing. A little bit of a walk to the bathrooms but not a big deal because they are located just below Fred's Shanty which serves fresh seafood and ice cream! Only downside was the constant waves from boaters who failed to heed the "No Wake " buoy when coming into the Thamesport and Burr's Marinas. The waves calmed down after dark and made for a peaceful night. Will book a slip next year for sure.
New floating concrete docks are great. Face dock exposed to significant wake from ferries all day and from southern fetch. Dock hands during our visit were pleasant, but inexperienced. Several restaurants in immediate neighborhood. Easy in and out for overnight stay.
