Looking for an ideal marina to dock your boat? Located in picturesque Greens Harbor on the Thames river in New London CT, Thamesport Marina is the marina you've been looking for. Docking your boat at Thamesport Marina will allow you convenient access to local beaches, restaurants and entertainment. Thamesport Marina is a full service marina, offering boat slips, transient slips, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
They’re little protection from all the ferry’s going in and out of New London. Very rolly.
Stayed on the floating transient dock for 3 nights. Marina manager was very accommodating. Dock is new and in great shape. 3 Restaurants & ice cream shop at top of the dock. We ate at “Shellfish”. Crab Bombs, Lobster Bisque, fish of the day and salad were all very good. Showers are new and very clean, could use some heat in there in cold months. Would have said 5 stars if there were laundry facilities. Only suggestion is to have some proper dock carts and am told they have been ordered! Would def return
best marina in the area, reasonable prices, .25 off per gallon of gas for slip renters, no bridges and only a mile to the sound!
Disaster! They should not have been allowed to call it a safe marina. We were slammed against the outside dock. We stayed 20 minutes till we were able to locate a safe marina in which to tie. Nearly all slips were vacant! When we called in on VHF we were first told the Marina had been sold and take any slip.
We got diesel and the price was great @ $5.89. The dock crew was very helpful and helped us secure up to the dock in the wind. The outer pier and concrete decked float looks brand new and the inner wooden docks are in good shape. We had water and 50A power. There is fine dining and a burger joint on shore nearby. The bathrooms were tough to find (at ground level under restaurant) but clean and newly done. We came across the owner and he was very friendly and personable.
It was ok, Cement docks were fairly new but full of bird poop.... this could've been because that pier was empty of boats. At the time the dock hand was friendly and accommodating but inexperienced. Even though it is in a no wake zone .... the local boaters seem to ignore the no wake rules. Fuel was very reasonably priced but I got scammed by the marina next door (Burr's) into coaxing me into buying their fuel and saying that Thamesport was not open. So be careful but buy the fuel from Thamesport ... it is in a better and calmer location. I would stop there again.
The staff is helpful. But they put us on a face dock that is exposed to wake from many passing ships. Very roly. After a day they put us on their fuel dock, which was better but had no services. The marina is small, exposed to a lot of passing traffic and has very little in the way of services. There are about four restaurants on the street next to the marina, none of them very attractive.
Awful. We arrived at 4:30 on a Sunday and no one answered when we hailed them many times. We also messaged them in Dockwa and phoned them multiple times. So we didn’t know where to dock, the code for the security gate or bathrooms, WiFi password, etc. Many open slips so we just took one. No dock hands. First slip we tried had no cleats so tried another. Floating docks were new and very nice, but had bird droppings everywhere. Marina had many boats in disrepair and at least one that was sunk. I won’t even get into the dead eel nailed to a post. Fortunately the security gate had a hole in it so we could reach through to get back in. We made this reservation because it had a higher rating than others in New London. At $3 a foot, you’re probably looking for something better.
Brand new floating dock, active crew, shore power and water works fine, great hospitality, and four restaurants!
Great marina minutes away from downtown New London & Ocean Beach. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Great restaurants to eat at right on the marina too.
No one answered the phone or VHF. Docks were covered in bird poop, no combo for dock doors or bathroom provided and the bathrooms were in rough shape.
This gritty place was a grave disappointment. No staff members around to answer radio calls, no staff to help tie up boat. New dock was covered in shells and seagull droppings. Bad news.
Fine for 1 night as a transient. A lot of rolling and bathrooms are dirty. Restaurants close by are good, floating docks are new.
We got in rather late in the day, just looking for a place to get out of some weather on our way west in the Sound. The floating docks were quite new, bathrooms and showers were decent and clean, and the young lady who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. We left at first light next morning. We didn't use any other marina amenities but found the place to be good and as-advertised. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there as a destination, but wouldn't hesitate to come back again for a stopover.
Beautiful new floating dock - but we bounced all night. Two people helped us tie up which was great. The facilities were less than ideal - toilets out of order bathroom very dirty. Second visit there we hoped it would be better than last year. The dock was new and nice - nothing else was better. Won’t return.
We had a great stay at Thamesport Marina! The facilities are clean, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable and it is convienently located to many area attractions! We especially appreciated the new floating docks for transient boaters. We would definitely return.
Although the floating docks are new, they are littered with bird dropping and were never cleaned during a five day stay. Dock hand had very limited knowledge . The Marina is open to the heavy ferry wakes.
We had an awful stay. The marina electricity wasn’t able to deliver our 50 amp needs so in addition to dockage fees, we had to run our generator. The person in the office was unaware of CT’s sales tax, so we were unable to verify our bill. We rocked & rolled the entire time we were there. I guess there were reasons we were the only transient t boat in the marina! We will not be returning to this marina.
Beautiful new floating docks that overlook the Thames River. We booked a slip for the Groton-New London fireworks show and had perfect viewing. A little bit of a walk to the bathrooms but not a big deal because they are located just below Fred's Shanty which serves fresh seafood and ice cream! Only downside was the constant waves from boaters who failed to heed the "No Wake " buoy when coming into the Thamesport and Burr's Marinas. The waves calmed down after dark and made for a peaceful night. Will book a slip next year for sure.
New floating concrete docks are great. Face dock exposed to significant wake from ferries all day and from southern fetch. Dock hands during our visit were pleasant, but inexperienced. Several restaurants in immediate neighborhood. Easy in and out for overnight stay.
