Octane: 89;Whether you're an overnight guest, or a local resident, Waukegan Harbor can serve all your boating needs. The Waukegan Port District was established in 1955 to oversee the activities and operations of the harbor. Watch the arrival of the cement and gypsum vessels as their captains dock in our commercial slip. Enjoy a day on the lake fishing with one of our many experienced Charter Captains or make Waukegan Harbor your home for all your recreational boating. We look forward to serving you.
The Waukegan Fire Department has had our dive rescue boat at the Waukegan Harbor for a few years now. The staff and management have always been willing to assist our team with any needs and have quickly resolved and even prevented issues from arising.
Nothing but great things to say about this harbor and staff. Very friendly and helpful. Enjoying the new ice machine, clean restrooms and coffee for everyone to enjoy as they please. I highly recommend stopping in for a couple nights if not renting a slip. Fun outdoor bar with food truck within walking distance
I have been a boating member at Waukegan Harbor for going on 10 years. I have sailed to Wisconsin, Michigan and Chicago and i can tell you they are hands down the best and the staff there are exactly like family. the facilities are excellent from the parking lot to the harbor entrance and everything between. thank you Terry, Robby, Debbie, Dan, Daniel and Joe Seidleman the Harbor master. i am very proud to call them friends. 2025 season is 123 days away and counting. cannot wait to get back to my home on the lake.
Great place to dock. Clean bathrooms. Water, electric, and internet are included along with free ice. Staff is super friendly and go above and beyond.
This marina does more for us boaters than any other in Illinois. We came from Northpoint where security watches the boaters (and will write tickets) and there are 7 law enforcement entities also watching the paying boaters to a marina that is primarily focused on watching the boaters' possessions. Look no further for a friendly campsite for your vessel. See ya on the water!
Waukegan Harbor is a fantastic marina that truly caters to all your boating needs. Waukegan Harbor is not just a place to dock your boat; it's a community. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. Whether you're looking to spend a day fishing, sailing or just enjoying the Marina, you should make it your summer home for recreational boating, Waukegan Harbor is the place to be. Highly recommended!
Great Harbor & Marina. Staff is ready to do whatever it takes, clean bathrooms, great amenities, friendly boating members, and fun events.
Clean grounds, nice people, good sturdy wide docks, lots of auto parking, clean bathrooms
Excellent docks and restroom facilities. Nice friendly staff. Due to weather we will be staying an extra day and happy to be here.
Really great harbor facilities. Everything was clean and the staff are awesome. Very impressed
Friendly staff. Good communication. Smooth sailing.
Wonderful harbor! Super helpful staff, great docks and shower/bathroom facilities are top notch. Great captains lounge. Really enjoyed our stay!
A wonderful place to stay. Super accommodating!
I just stayed there because it is close to Larsen Marine and the day that I was scheduled to deliver my boat the weather was looking iffy. The person at the gas dock and the person in the office were very friendly and helpful.
good safe marina. cool help yourself pump-out. isolated area. was promised a free week on a monthly booking that didn't happen...
Great staff. Beautiful facility. 24 hr security FYI - If you have food delivered you need to walk out to the gate at street entrance to parking.
The marina was clean and the office person was nice. There where no dock hands to help catch lines and there is nothing to do outside marina.
Great harbor and staff. Very clean. Washers s d dryers.
Very nice and updated marina. Loved our stay.
The marina docks were fabulous. The staff was nonexistent, no documents, no fuel dock attendance in the office staff was rude and totally misinformed.
Nice clean marina with a deli and hot dog stand with ice cream near by. They also have a nice pub close as well.
Staff was very friendly and the facilities were very nice
One of the top 3 marinas we have visited since we left FL 5 months ago. Bright, super clean rest rooms/showers. Convenient pay-by-phone laundry facilities. Immaculate docks and grounds…right down to the huge pots of geraniums along the piers! Lots of other amenities like Captains Lounge, several outdoor seating areas, free hotel-style ice machine (as well as bagged ice for sale). Reasonably priced and conveniently located right next to Bay Marine if you need work done. Very secure with locked access to docks. Staff friendly and helpful. Would HIGHLY recommend
The staff there was amazing. All the facilities were perfect.
The best marina on Lake Michigan's west coast. Great facilities, people and activities. Close walk to downtown Waukegan and Metra train station, so you are a short train trip from downtown Chicago.
Docks in great condition; Building & shower facilities perfect; great outdoor seating.
Very nice marina. Friendly people and good facilities. One downside: there was a lot of lakeweed in the harbor.
Great marina with great facilities. Also economical since launch fee included in slip rental. Had a great experience at Waukegan Harbor!
I love it here! It’s a wonderful community to be a part of. Friendly staff, secure and safe with great amenities!
Emails with slip info and logistics was great, facilities in Waukegan were clean and accessible, free coffee in the morning, great staff handling the checkin. Excellent experience, thank you!
Great communication, great amenities and friendly helpful people!
Nice place, staff was friendly and helpful. They were prepared for our expected late arrival and shifted when we arrived earlier than expected. They sent several communications.
No power at pedestal. Not able to get it fixed for us! Goose poop all over the dock slip that we had to clean such that we could have a mine free exit of our boat.
A well deserved 5 star rating! The staff goes the extra mile to make sure amenities are in top condition, assistance at the docks is readily available and immediate and the friendliness is immeasurable. Looking forward to next season's stay. Thanks from the crew of S/V Spork!
Big marina! We were there late in the season when there wasn’t as much dock help available. We felt safe, but thought it was a little dirty. Every staff member we met was very nice.
The people at the dock we were at were super friendly! A tight knit group that welcomed us in for the day and night.
Maintenance staff overwhelmed by the sheer size of this place? Thick layer of goose poop on dock. Had to wash it off so we could get to the boat. The pedestal was spiderwebbed in and filthy and the was a well established large wasp nest inside. The ‘lounge’ is more like a small store room. Overall the place is just fair to middlin’.
The complete set of services make for a great stay.
Marina was clean and nice. People friendly (staff & fellow boaters). Not much in the way of walkable amenities. Works well as a first/last stop from/to Chicago. We were advised by a resident boater not to explore too much inland on foot
Go for the marina, not the town. 32 miles from Chicago is a good sail with decent winds. If you're looking for a weekend trip, consider Waukegan.
Wonderful marina and the residents are so helpful with tips where we p go listen to music and get a bite to eat! I can’t believe my other half was able to vacation here and not just work on boats - I appreciate that and so does Ferdinand Nimphius, Thank you and happy Independence Day! Wendy and Ferd
Clean neat well organized.
Staff are friendly and really helpful
This marina is the last marina I would consider as a transient boater. The amenities essentially consist of electric, water and a reasonably clean dock. If you are looking for a restaurant, pool or an attractive waterfront go to Northpoint Harbor which has the above amenities.
Lovely marina and nice staff. Clean, well maintained....all a great experience. There is a little hamburger/hot dog stand, ice cream stand and outdoor bar with live music right close by. Good walking area for dogs. Just not a lot of other amenities (ie pool or otherwise....and not close walking to any other shops/groceries). But a great stay for far less expense than in Chicago!!
We enjoyed our stay in this clean, spacious harbor. The people we met as well as the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
Stayed on a transient slip. Nice facilities. Clean bathrooms. Nice little patio overlooking the marina with a grill for everyone's use. Arrived after-hours and the security guard promptly met us with welcome info and keys. only little complaint is the laundry. it's coin operated and there is no change machine. we don't lug around rolls of quarters on the boat so couldn't dry our rain-soaked cloths. either put a change machine in there, or better yet no fee. just add a dollar to all transient and regular slips and you have enough revenue to cover their operation for a year.
Marina going downhill. Nobody at gas dock to service customers, fuel is very expensive, harbor master non responsive to emails, marina hours are not great…. Close at 4:30 daily. So much more offered at other marinas in the area. I’ve been in this marina for years and ready to leave. Nice floating docks and friendly staff in the office, other than that…you are on your own.
Been my marina for the last 15 years. Friendly, professional and responsive staff. Cleans showers and restrooms. Good security. Easy in and out, especially in the North (commercial) harbor. Friendly shipmates. Gas dock staff efficient whether getting fuel or a pump out.
Waukegan Harbor has been my 'Home on the Lake' since 2014. I tell people it is 'Our Little Slice of Heaven' and love every minute spent there. I would absolutely recommend this community to anyone who is looking for a great experience!
Waukegan Harbor has excellent facilities and the staff are extremely responsive and thoughtful!
We love Waukegan Harbor. Only giving a 4 due to the seaweed in the Marina. I haven't seen any effort over the weekend to remove it. The seaweed is hazardous to props and gets tangled causing boats not to be to operate properly. We know this is probably due to reduced staff due to Covid, otherwise a 5 out of 5
I have enjoyed being a boating member at Waukegan Harbor & Marina for 4 years now. The staff is great, very customer service orientated, they recently added a new outdoor full service bar with entertainment that is a great place to unwind. I look forward to my stay-cations every day.
My wife and I typically cruise out of Waukegan Harbor. We are transients and the launch ramps there are plenty big enough for our 30' Sea Ray with easy access and a large parking lot for our truck and trailer. The marina's facilities, as well as the staff are top notch and their floating concrete docks are what every marina should have. The fuel/pump-out dock is easy to access and can accommodate several boats at one time. To be honest, the area around the marina is lacking in regards to food, entertainment and activities but hopefully the proposed development that is planned for the area will provide boaters with more "on shore" options in the future.
Our home port. Great facility and always something going on.
Nice pump out equipment. Great pump out/fuel team. Nice docks and clubhouse. Lots of bird poop. I wish the town had more going on. Go to the train station to walk into town. On foot, avoid the bridges you see from the harbor. Proceed to the train station to walk downtown.
Friendly and Great service
Clean , friendly and reasonably priced. The members there were also extremely friendly.
The harbor staff at Waukegan are great. We are transient boaters all summer and stay at 20+ different harbors each year. Waukegan's staff are consistently the best we find anywhere. It's a very large harbor with a lot of boats and they manage it well.
It sucked. Arrived just before 7:00 pm and nobody answered radio call to assist with lines. METAL post without rub protection between slips. Wind pushed boat into post during docking since no line assistance was provided as promised in welcome arrival email. Scratched boat which will cost a few hundred dollars to have repaired. No keys or codes for washroom provided so did not get to use facilities. Seems like a nice harbor except rub protection needed on metal post for ALL slips. Shitty design as-is. Also service NON-EXISTENT even though i arrived at a reasonable early evening time. I am not at all happy. Waukegan Harbor will be my future stop of last resort.
It was easy to register and easy to find our slip. We came in late and needed a key card to return to the dock area. The staff were reasonably responsive about getting us a key card. The location was such that it was difficult to gain access to a meal at night.
Free coffee, Clean Bathroom and dock, Friendly staff. Great place.
We enjoyed our stay. The marina was in good shape and the staff was courteous. The young ladies sent to assist us tying up at our slip even offered me a ride to the office. But they did not seem to know how to control a 40 foot boat in a slip by getting a dock line around a cleat. My only other comment is that more showers are needed in this large marina and they should be more distributed throughout the marina as are the restrooms.
