Report Review
Brunswick Landing Marina has the best boating community I have ever been involved with. This past winter was our second year staying there. Each stay was for at least 4 months. The events like the Oyster roast are a nice touch.
Now to the other side of the marina. The pump out situation is marginal at best for the size the marina. There are 2 pumpout stations but one is near shore and due to water depths and access is not usable for the most part. That leaves the T Dock location. At peak times there are boats tied up there. For $35/35 gallons they have a cart they bring to your boat only at low tide. I made a comment on the Brunswick Landing Cruiser Net about a pump out boat and the owner replied back that he couldn't make money on a pump out boat. I have a composting head so it didn't affect me other than seeing the filth in the water. And it is filthy. Needless to say my post on Brunswick Landing Cruiser Net was removed.
Brunswick Landing Cruiser Net is the main communication tool used by the owner. The owners FaceBook shamed me a few times. One instance the owner posted pictures about leaving project materials on the dock pavilion. I was one of the guilty parties. I responded with why the marina couldn't talk to owners in person or at least a phone call on issues. To each his own but I prefer talking to people about issues. Social media is not the way to communicate if you are running a business.
The staff is not the friendliest. I was yelled (cussed) at by the garbage collection person one morning because I put objects in the can that pokes wholes in the bag. To address his issue, I started placing these objects beside the can but they were never picked up. I was latter called by the manager requesting that I take these things to the dumpster. The dumpsters are over a 1/3 mile away and not having a car makes this an inconvenient task. That's the marinas idea of customer service for you. Don't fix the issue. Have the customer deal with it.
The office staff is extremely unfriendly. I have walked in there numerous times looking for a package. One feels really bad for the inconvenience you caused the staff for asking if a package has arrived. The faces say it all. Why are you bothering me. That is the atmosphere you get when you walk into the office.
Another incident that burns me is when flowers were sent by the company I work for when my father's passing. Clearly marked perishable, they sat in the office for a week. Another boater told me they were there. The office I guess never had the time to inform me they were there.
With my departure coming close, I let the manager know the date I was leaving. A week later I called the office to give them an updated date. The manager did not remember the conversation a week earlier and was going to charge me to the end of the month. Out of frustration, I hung up on him. After calming down, I called him back just to have him hang up on me. Fair enough. I did hang up on him.
My reservation for next winter was quickly canceled after my departure and was notified of a $139 electric bill for only 19 days. The highest electric bill I had in my time at the marina was $100. I guess they need to make the money where ever they can.
Hense my rating of 1 star. Zero was not an option.
