The Pennsylvania Yacht Club is a set up to control how and when a boat owner can use his or her boat as boat use relate to mooring practice's. The mooring is not provided by the club. The member must provide their own along with all appliable line etc. Combine this with the member having to provide all the work for block their boat when it is dry docked. As a paying member who does not want to pay a surcharge the member is required to take on work duties. Some duties require members to fish out mooring from the Delaware River every year. This activity is very dangerous. If a person was to fall in off a makeshift barge their survival would be in peril. Some members who have contracting businesses are hired for pay to do jobs without any kind of bidding process. This is just one example of the nepotism which permeates many aspects of the club. The club meetings are at times have many members unhappy about how issues are concluded. The monies the club takes in for facility rental only seem to benefit the clubs overhead. Year after year regardless of increases of rental and dues there only seems to be just enough to run the club. A number of members matriculate from a Philadelphia yacht club. These members seem to hold sway at PYC. My opinion is for same dollars a person seeking a place for their boat would find a lot less hassle at a full fledge marina then at PYC.
