Fort Rachel is the ideal place to leave your boat while you enjoy all that Mystic has to offer. Our marina offers 110 storm protected boat slips that can accommodate vessels up to 60 ft. Each slip has its own shore power hook-up, cable TV, water, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Our professional dock staff is available to assist you with all your boating needs. We offer an onsite Service Department to take care of all your maintenance and repairs. Mystic can be a very busy place during the Season and we strongly recommend that you make a Reservation in advance if you would like to use our very popular facilities.

The picturesque journey up the Mystic River should take approx. 30 minutes and will meet every expectation of a New England river scene. You will first pass by historic Noank, with its rich fishing heritage and many beautiful captains’ residences scattered along the river banks. Next you’ll cruise past Six Penny Island, which is a tidal wetland and home to a great variety of marine life. If you look closely, you may be lucky and catch a glimpse of majestic herons, egrets and ospreys. The mouth of the Mystic River must be approached from the east or west, as there is an island (Ram Island) directly south of the channel entrance. The channel is clearly marked. You should have no problem if you practice good seamanship: follow the marks, keep track of visible landmarks and stay in the channel. Unless you have kept up with the Coast Guard’s “Notice to Mariners”, you might find that the marks are not exactly where your chart says they are. This is a common problem in all inland waters, because the charts are not updated as frequently as the buoys are relocated. About a half-mile north of Mason’s Island, you’ll come to the Amtrak railroad bridge (vertical clearance is 8 feet mhw). The railroad bridge is usually open to river traffic and closes briefly to allow trains to pass. You may hail the bridge tender on VHF # 13, “Mystic River Railroad Bridge”, to inquire about the opening schedule. Fort Rachel Marina is located on the west bank of the Mystic River just north of the railroad swing bridge. Please hail our Dock Master on VHF CHANNEL 09 prior to passing through the railroad bridge. The Dock Master will give you your slip assignment and further docking instructions.

Stayed at Ft. Rachel July 27-31, 2017. Awesome stay. The marina staff was terrific. They were waiting on the dock for us when we arrived, helped us tie up and came down a few times during our stay to see if we needed anything. Extremely accommodating. The office had a bag of goodies for us including WiFi and restrooms codes. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. There are grills and picnic tables available which we took advantage off. The marina is tucked behind the RR bridge wall and is very protected in weather which we did experience one day when the wind really kicked up. The area is residential and small business in older homes and the yards are beautifully landscaped for you to enjoy the short walk to downtown. Even closer is the Captain Daniel Packer Inn &Tavern and Friar Tucks Pub. A dinghy is a must in Mystic. There are so many coves and places to stop and grab a bite to eat while you explore. We will definitely stay at Fort Rachel again. Looking forward to next year!

Great location near downtown Mystic. They responded immediately after we hailed them on the radio. Dave and Don were their to help us tie up. Once secure they hooked us up to shore power and gave us the rundown on the marina facilities and local restaurants. Laura in the office was great. She gave us a bag with all kinds of information including wifi. cable tv, and a map of the Mystic sites. The marina was quiet with the exception of a train going by from time to time. Regular marina folks were very friendly. Overall a very good experience. We'll be back.
