I would like to say Elizabeth has been very nice explaining that their policy makes what they are doing there ok. Their policy states “
Cancellation Policy - Champlin's 2023 Cancellation Policy
All transient reservations cancelled up to seven days prior to your arrival date will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee of your entire stay.
Reservations that are cancelled in whole or part, within seven days of arrival will forfeit the full deposit. In the event of a small craft weather advisory, you will received a gift card for the full value of your deposit (cancellation fees will be waived).
There is no fee for making changes of equal value/nights for reservations that are outside of seven days of arrival date. Should you choose to shorten your stay or book a lesser valued dates, You will be subject to the 10% cancellation fee for the partial cancellation.

The seven day cancellation policy, considering marine weather forecasts , is unreasonable. In that, wind forecasts aren’t reliable until a day or two before, at best. The fact that this marina takes 80% deposit with the cancellation policy and that they will not make any accommodations or exceptions may put unreasonable pressure on boaters to make poor nautical decisions to make a trip, to an island out in open water, which could jeopardize people lives.
I will be sure to never make a reservation again to this marina or any marina that has similar policy and such unaccommodating policy/staff.
Additionally, I will share this experience with all my boating friends and post this experience on social media and reviews.
Needless to say we will not be heading out to Block this weekend, another bad weather weekend.
