Champlin’s is one of New England’s largest resort marinas and features 4,700+ linear feet of dock space, a 30′ harbor depth, and spacious docking facilities, allowing us to accommodate vessels up to 250+ ft.

All marina guests have full access to all the resort amenities including our newly-renovated onsite boutique hotel, three waterfront dining experiences, daily live music, newly refurbished pool, bicycle and paddle board rentals, fire pits, and much more. Your slip includes complimentary Wi-Fi and water, and access to bathhouse and shower facilities. Pump-out is available upon request from the town.

Marina excellent. Hotel facility fine, but food offerings were poor and stale and the shuttle to town is a joke - if you want to go to a good restaurant, you have to take a taxi. They will not even drop you off on your way to town.

Got what we paid for: A dock, 30 amps, wifi and showers. Would have been 4 stars but for the bangin 1000 watt sound system blasting house music from the pier head bar at 1:00 am on the Monday night before my sail home. This was not a restful marina. I contacted marina directly by email re: this issue but got no reply. In their favor I acknowledge that Elizabeth has been generally responsive and the marina refunded without hesitation the first night's fee of a 3 day reservation for my cancellation due to a tropical storm watch on 9/16/23.

I'm so sorry to hear that your stay was impacted negatively by being so close to Trader's Dock Bar. We do try to honor requests to be in a quieter location away from the bar. We hope you will give us another try and please be sure to let us know that you would like to be away from the bar.

I would like to say Elizabeth has been very nice explaining that their policy makes what they are doing there ok. Their policy states “ Cancellation Policy - Champlin's 2023 Cancellation Policy All transient reservations cancelled up to seven days prior to your arrival date will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee of your entire stay. Reservations that are cancelled in whole or part, within seven days of arrival will forfeit the full deposit. In the event of a small craft weather advisory, you will received a gift card for the full value of your deposit (cancellation fees will be waived). There is no fee for making changes of equal value/nights for reservations that are outside of seven days of arrival date. Should you choose to shorten your stay or book a lesser valued dates, You will be subject to the 10% cancellation fee for the partial cancellation. Have questions about the cancellation policy? Head over to our help desk” The seven day cancellation policy, considering marine weather forecasts , is unreasonable. In that, wind forecasts aren’t reliable until a day or two before, at best. The fact that this marina takes 80% deposit with the cancellation policy and that they will not make any accommodations or exceptions may put unreasonable pressure on boaters to make poor nautical decisions to make a trip, to an island out in open water, which could jeopardize people lives. I will be sure to never make a reservation again to this marina or any marina that has similar policy and such unaccommodating policy/staff. Additionally, I will share this experience with all my boating friends and post this experience on social media and reviews. Needless to say we will not be heading out to Block this weekend, another bad weather weekend. Sincerely, Frank Carbone

While we are very strict on our cancellation policy, we do care deeply about our guest's safety and that is why we have the exception to our cancellation policy. If there is a small craft advisory, guests are welcome to reschedule or receive a gift certificate towards a future stay. However, our policy does not have an exception for regular "bad weather" and we try to be very clear about that. In this particular case, the guest cancelled last minute during the height of the summer season (no small craft advisory was in effect). As a courtesy, we made an additional exception for him to be able to utilize his deposit in the quieter season this year instead of just forfeiting the deposit. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather and small craft advisories at the end of September, he wasn't able to utilize the courtesy credit for the dates he wanted and that did expire at the end of our season.

Our stay was awesome, starting with the dock and Andrew. Excellent young man, knew his stuff could not have been more attentive. Andrew at the front desk. Channeled us into an out of town all week long did a great job. Hannah, at the dock bar made the best mudslide on Block Island. Despite terrible weather, we had a most excellent visit, and could not have been happier with the help and fun graciously. Furnished by your staff.

Our stay was on 10/1. I did not know that the complex had shutdown for the winter. Wish I had known in advance. The dock hand was excellent. There were only 4 boats in the marina that evening.

First the good news....The new owners of Champlins have done a very commendable job of restoring the property which the previous owners let deteriorate. The dock hands were very professional and helpful in terms of getting us a floating dock which made getting our dog on and off the boat much easier. They have everything you could want on the property including a shuttle bus to take you to town. My only concern was the loud music from the bar on the dock until 1 AM. If that's your thing you'll enjoy it. If not I would suggest asking for a slip as far from the bar as possible

Champlin's is a great place. The staff were all helpful and professional. The grounds are well maintained and offer loads of amenities, we especially appreciated the free shuttle back and forth from town. The only reason I gave it a 4 was the fixed/stationary docks are pretty beat up and required a lot of fender management to feel comfortable that our hull wouldn't be dinged up. Otherwise it was a great stay.

Stopped overnight on our way to Westbrook, CT to avoid hurricane Lee. Dockhands were most helpful getting us settled after an 88 mile run from PTown. Wished we could have stayed longer.

This was our most magnificent stay at any marina at any time. The pool was warm. The people were great and we spent our evening sipping wine at the fire pit. We want to thank Ryann for her hospitality, as well as the staff there at the café and the bar. We are coming back next year for a week. It was a magical stay. Can’t say enough great things about the short stay there.

Excellent stay, pool and amenities were great. Loved the tiki bar. Staff were very personable. Only regret is they don't have charcoal to buy for the grills, I left mine at home figuring I would be using their grills.

Excellent! Great facility and Block Inland is the Absolute Best! Only thing at Champlins that was lacking was a Welcome packet telling all about the facility. The staff was excellent and facility is very clean. We were surprised that no info was issued. Once the dock hands were finished that was it. No idea if there was a wi-fi available. Not clear on showers & rest rooms for boaters verses the public. We did get wrist bands but no idea how that helped. Didn't see anyone else wearing wrist bands. All in all still very nice & we plan on visiting again!

Overall had an enjoyable stay. Was expecting a more upgraded experience under new ownership. Docks really need upgrading. They’re very slippery when wet which is hazardous. Had the unfortunate experience of slipping and falling into the water while getting off my boat due to the wet mossy dock surface. Lots of hoses, power chords etc. crossing the docks presenting trip hazards. 7 day cancellation policy is unworkable. On the positive side, helpful dock hands, great mudslides, and you can’t beat the beauty of Block.

The place is looking old. Needs to be refreshed. Multiple showers, but some are in need of repair. Several boats left early due to a small craft advisory. Unfortunately you get a credit, and not a refund, so the boats that can't or won't be returning will have no use for the credit. Their restaurant, The Landing, was very poorly managed. Service was slow (1 1/2 hours just to get drinks). Over 3 hours for dinner. Food was okay. In the end, the servers had to ask each patron at several tables what they had ordered, because they had no record of who ordered what, in order to give us a check.

We just came back from a fabulous trip there. We love it here & can’t wait to be back. Your dockteam, bartenders and entertainment directors are wonderful. However, there are a few kinks. 1. Lack of wi-fi: please invest in more routers or w better ISP. 2. The pool is advertised as heated/ that’s incorrect. 3. Towels, fresh towels should be ready in abundance in the morning- there were none at 8a. 4. The bathrooms could be cleaner. Other than that - it’s a wonderful place - with incredible views .

My family and I stayed in July and had the best time! We've been staying at Champlin's for over 20 years and the new owners are doing a fabulous job! Everything looks beautiful and so much cleaner than it ever did. The staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for you! The dock crew was great, got us in and out smoothly (and no more rafting is a huge plus!!) And the cherry on top is the new manager Jen! She is amazing and so sweet, we were there for Christmas in July and she could not have done a better job! Everywhere you looked was Christmas cheer, she seemed to be everywhere doing everything all at once, always with a smile and a friendly word! And she always had time to make sure the kids were doing something fun!! Thanks Jen and Champlin's for an amazing trip!

We were docked for 3 days on early August, boat was hit twice by other boats attempting to dock, luckly we were on the boat, first one no damage, second one we rush to avoid the collision, were able to minimize the impact, but a dent was done in the gel coat. Marina needs to review the density of boats and have better docks, train the dock staff to be more proactive, suggest to benchmark with other Marinas

We were here for the amazing Catalina Rendezvous 2023 event. After being expertly parallel-sandwiched in on the B-pier, our first act was to get mudslides for the whole crew. Throughout our stay staff were friendly and attentive. The shower facilities were quite nice, and other amenities such as the Sugar Shack and resort store were welcomed. To get around the island, cabs were readily available at the resort entrance. We also participated in a reception for the Catalina Yachts event out on the pier bar, and all appetizers were delicious and service was great…. Of course, more mudslides! I’d like to specifically thank Preston, our departure dock hand, who expertly followed our departure line handling plan to get smoothly out of a tight area. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Although we had to wait almost an hour to be allowed to our dock they were able to accommodate our request to be on the North dock. Did not get electric until 6:00 and they need to increase their capacity on the WIFI. Other than that people were friendly & helpful always a good time at Champlin's. Most importantly the mud slides were great !

Pleasant stay this year. While the Crew was friendly & Attentive, they seemed a bit short staffed. Dockside bar (upper section) closed with long lines (10 deep) just to get a beverage. Showers needed attention (two of the five in Mens showers didn’t work). Other than that everything was fine. Will return again next year.

Very expensive for what you get. Power on our dock tripped frequently- just about every time a big boat came or went. Also a number of boaters there blast their music as if everyone wants to hear the poor taste in music.

The last five times we were there they’ve had a pool issue. I was told it was a water pump problem this time. I believe it’s a chemical situation. It’s a dangerous an unhealthy condition. The water was so cloudy you could not see the bottom in the low end. In addition the new pool upgrade is awesome, but no ladder in the deep end is an unfortunate mistake. A more professional maintenance of the pool condition is necessary. The biggest reason we like Champlins is the pool, other marinas are available to us at half the price.

We’ll never come here again and do not recommend for sailing yachts. We had damage done to our teak by their terrible pilings and lack of help at the fuel dock plus damaging pilings with no protection at the dock. It is like being docked in a nightclub…neon lights on most of the power boats, loud music, loud people. No service upon arrival for such things as access to laundry. Other than the courtesy shuttle into town, there’s not much positive to say. Staff member who organized pool basketball for kids also blind to the taller boys behaving badly against the girls who were younger and shorter, allowing for bullying and aggression. She should have stayed instead of leaving and letting some of the boys run wild over the girls. All in all, not a good experience and we won’t be back.

I hope you take us up on that. We also offered to move you to a quieter spot on the marina. The pool was very cloudy. Nobody in my family wanted to swim in it. Nobody else was in the water either. They charge $10.00 a foot to park your boat. This is unacceptable. I have my own pool at home and you can read the date on a quarter in the deep end. I will probably just anchor out next time.

As always we made a stop at Champlain’s for our annual summer vacation and as always since the takeover from TCG it’s a disappointment The pool deck was great; but the water was so murky, I could not see my feet. The dock hand that assisted me was great. However I witnessed several others that were not so much… even had to help one of them free a line from a piling ads the departing boat was in a compromising position. The day prior to my departure, they mentioned another boat would be rafted to me. I asked if it would be helpful if I move as I was planning on leaving the next morning at 6:30-7:00 am. They told be not necessary. Needless to say they had 9 spaces open stern to floating dock and several spaces on the fixed dock. I was willing to move, but instead my departure was delayed (and most of those empty spots remained empty). Arrival was a mess several boats had to circle for over an hour, and this was after 3:45…. So we’ll after check in time. Not to mention how many kids (young and old) miss the arcade. I gave it 3 years to work out the kinks, but after this visit, I’m done. It’s a shame as it’s such a beautiful property. I’d rather go to Payns Dock or the Boat Basin where they do everything they can to welcome boats in and have capable dock hands to help.

Dock assistants need training, noise levels on Sunday night Monday morning were unbelievable and police were required to shut down the party. No one responded to this issue from Champlin's staff and most of our nights sleep was lost. Shame on Champlin's.

Fine marina. Dock hands were professional and helpful. On-sight restaurants and bar with live music, water toys and lots of fancy boats make this an exceptional facility. Walking distance to The Oar! Only problem I encountered was a 1 hr 45 min wait for my slip. C'mon guys, just stagger arrival times to avoid a 2-hr backup.

Champlin's has really been hyping their new amenities. They should since the dockage fees have almost doubled since the new owners took over. They have definitely invested in the place and no more rafting up. But operationally, it's inferior to the prior owners. First - their heated pool. I guess technically it's heated by the sun, but I'd say that's pushing it. That pool was not heated - it was chilly. The showers had blue mold running down the walls and haven't been cleaned in a while. Their Sugar Shack was out of over half the ice cream flavors for a day and a half. They do have a lot of people working the grounds and they did a great job with clearing the trash bins. But they only seem to have about 3 dock hands. That's really light with so many boats trying to come in. Also - so many boats had to wait for slips because the boats leaving don't leave by 11am for checkout. We were coming in at 1pm and had to wait for other boaters to vacate their slips. The dock hands indicate that they can't force them to leave. Why not? Checkout's 11am. So if they won't leave, start charging them by the hour. Overall we love Block and Champlin's is a great place. You expect issues, but when you get gouged at $12/ft - expectations rise. At $6 - $8 a foot I'm fine. At $12 - I'm annoyed. lol.

We do try to get boats in earlier in the day if we can, but it's not always possible - but we do try! We will also look at the dock team schedule to see if we can make some adjustments. The swimming pool is definitely heated and is set at 80 degrees. I also wanted to let you know that the blue in the showers is not mold, we do get hard water staining. Our public areas team clean the bathrooms hourly starting at 7:00am and I will follow up with them to see what we can do about that staining. We will continue to work on improving the property and the operations and hope to see you again!

Although the staff is very friendly and dockhands were helpful, the organization and placement of boats is terrible. We have traveled before to champlains and loved it in the past, but this year they did not consider that our 33 foot boat would not fare well on the outside tip of a T dock. The weather was not good at night both nights we were there and we had 3-5 foot chop in the marina. We banged against the dock both nights and our boat was tipping side to side, even though our wide 13.5 ft beem usually prevents that. Champlains can't control the weather, but given the forecast the size of a boat should determine placemt in the marina. We had a 92 foot yacht next to us, further in the marina protected better. We asked to be more inside when we docked but the dockhand said it couldn't be changed. Additionally the docks (except the main dock) are all covered with moss, and when wet, are very slippery. Our daughter slipps getting off the boat and sprained her ankle due to the slippery green moss/mildew. Lastly, the bathrooms by the pool were disgusting. 4 of the 5 toilets were clogged and there were no attendants.

Not our best stay. We've been coming to Champlins for almost 20 years. We were traveling with new boaters and requested close slips on our reservations requests made several months ago. Not only was the marina not able to accommodate our requests, they had no explanation as to why - just "we can't accommodate." We managed to get a floating dock which we always request and always get but was initially told there was nothing available. It was way in where the water is pretty shallow (and where we saw a boat get stuck!) The staff while very nice are clearly not trained and offered no assistance for our friends while docking extremely close to other very large boats. No one ever came by to ask if we needed anything once we were tied in. Not the way things used to be. Champlins could always accommodate almost any request. Its clear that the direction is towards the large boats, but we even heard lots of complaints from them. I do like the facilities and everything else about Champlins, but again, not our best visit. We may need to rethink next year.

The marina retains its honky tonk flavor, but you can sense that there have been some needed investments to improve the facilities. If you are looking for a quiet spot to tie up your boat and get to bed early, this is not your place, but if you enjoy the energy of your fellow boaters, Champlin's remains he best.

As usual, almost everything was great. All facilities clean and staff was very hospitable. My only problem this year was that upon arrival my requested location in the marina was totally ignored and I nearly found my self in a unusable slip. All was made right so I was happy. I requested a specific pier with my March reservation and sent another email two weeks ago with no response to either of my requests so I assumed everything would be as requested.

The entertainment is non existent after 7pm. Our last night, there was NO entertainment on a Friday night! The dock hands while courteous, are not trained properly causing many safety issues. While we expect this gets better, the high rates aren't justified due to the below par resort experience. Finally, there were several people at night near the bar area that did not own boats and did not belong there, high amount of pot smoking and rap music that took away from an optimal stay. No one from management ever came around to get feedback. This is one of our worst stays in 25 years and the most expensive by far! We hope management reads this and acts. Thank you.

Overall our music program is all about finding balance for all of our guests and our neighbors. This year's program is live music daily from 4 to 7 and then a DJ on Saturday nights. Was ok but my wife was not happy about the dock location our dock was going up and down with the tides and line going over our boat ,was not easy for us to get off the boat and in.

This was our 9th visit to Champlin's and only our third since 2019. We were somewhat disappointed to say the least. Here is a list of what we thought changed for the worse since our last 2019 and prior visits. Poolside bar and restaurant served watery and tasteless drinks. No live music poolside; Kids arcade and bumper boats - Gone Garbage in the dock receptacles overflowing constantly-smelly and unsightly; No significant upgrades to the showers/restrooms; lack of ventilation-workers cleaning/closing bathrooms during peak AM shower times; Only one bartender at tiki bar-long wait times for drinks; Quite frankly, all the talk on the website about the improvements made to the facility are smoke and mirrors. The cost for us to stay was up over $200 more per night since 2019. Would be OK with that if there were actual improvements made. Seemed like a bit of false advertising. All in all, we had a good time during our stay but really feel like things went downhill v. our prior stays at Champlins circa 2006-2010. We are hoping the foregoing items are addressed in the near future!

Thank you for staying with us and I am sorry to see about the disappointments that you encountered. We have been making a lot of upgrades and changes to the property and have more to come. As we mentioned last year, the bumper boats and the arcade are not planned to be reintroduced. But we did bring back a new playground and renovated the pool area to include a new bar this year. We do have music at the pool, but not live music. The bathrooms at the pool have not been renovated yet. This year's new additions also included new power pedestals at the dock, the introduction of our shuttle service to and from town and an activities team. Our facilities teams work really hard to keep the garbage containers empty and empty them at least three times per day and our housekeeping team cleans the bathrooms hourly. Unfortunately, there are times between service where they do get dirty and we try to get there as quickly as possible. Overall our feedback from guests has been amazing this year and we hope that we can do better for you on your next trip!

Very inexperienced dock staff, Garbage pales full, one employee working with boom box and playing music with explicitives(f bombs). Not the Champlains I remember and definetly not worth the $750 per night .

Our facilities crews worked really hard to keep the garbage containers emptied over the fourth and it certainly wasn't easy, but the overall feedback from guests was really positive. We are sorry that you were impacted by this during your stay. Truthfully, we are super confused about the "boom box" comment. After seeing your review, I spent time on the docks talking with several of our seasonal marina guests to see if they could shed some light on this so that we could address it immediately, but they haven't seen it happen nor have they seen anyone with a boom box. It appears to have a been a "one off" of poor judgement on whomever it was, but we will certainly be keeping an eye out for it. Again, I am so sorry that these issues impacted your stay and we hope that you will give us another chance!

we have been coming to block island for years and have stayed at champlains hundreds of times without exageration. this was our first time under new ownership. while the prices are much higher than the other marinas on island, the facilities and services have not been upgraded. Dock staff, while all very nice are overmatched and undertrained for their jobs. it is hinted that the Marina doesnt raft anymore, but you may be rafted if you are on any of the floating docks. while no one climbs over your boat you could be tied to another boat for the duration of your stay. Pool area has been upgraded which is great for families. General cleaning (one toilet was clogged for 3 days during our visit), peeling paint (dock office paint is peeling off in sheets) etc. not the world class experience the web site mentions. if they kept the prices comparable to the other marinas i would have no issue but if you are charging a premium price you should deliver a premium product.

We are sorry to see that we didn't meet your expectations during your recent stay. We have done many upgrades to the property, but know that we still have a ways to go to get Champlin's into perfect condition. This past year's renovations included refurbishing the pool, new electric and water pedestals on the dock, the new playground, some new pilings on the dock as well as an extensive stanpipe fire system on the docks. The bathroom situation you mentioned was unfortunate, but was addressed repeatedly by the facilities team and I am calling in a plumber to see why it keeps reoccurring. I am sorry that it happened! We were certainly stretched to capacity over the holiday and will continue to work hard to make every vacation exceptional!

Marina was nice. Too many boats rafting and boats at dock too close. Many boat accidents happening. No Wi-Fi. Supposedly been an issue for years. Dock crew helpful. Way to expensive compared to other options.

We do allow boats to raft at the request/agreement of both parties, but in general, we don't raft as a matter of policy. It is definitely full here for the holiday. I am sorry that our wi-fi is down, there is a section of the Sigma Wifi system that has gone down and they are overnighting a piece to us, but we do recognize that is inconvenient and we are sorry about this. We are in the process of planning an overhaul to the system now that the town Broadband is being rolled out. We are looking forward to welcoming you again.

The Marina and dock hands were very helpful. I took a lovely yoga class on Wednesday Morning. The food was good quality in the Cafe and restaurant. The showers could use an upgrade.

Off Soundings weekend 2023: Plentiful and helpful dock staff. Only issue is that somehow we were first plugged in one of the old electrical outlets that did not work. Fortunately we noticed this before going to sleep and switched to one of the new pedestals. Off Soundings weekend 2022: Well organized docking plan. Dock staff plentiful and very helpful when all the boats arrived. Also, a staff member later did a dockline inspection making suggestions so that everyone would be prepared for the tide change. The restrooms were clean, but not all were open. Paper towels ran out in the restroom I used. On-site games and fire pit seating available-a nice amenity. Excellent mudslides. Overall a great stay and I hope to return.

While we understand that dozens of sailboats arriving in a short period of time was challenging, it would have gone more smoothly if the Dockmaster had a better understanding of and planned for not only the length and DRAFT of every vessel but also where each would need to place a garboard at a piling. With that said, the very inexperienced dock crew performed well under tremendous pressure!

The young ladies who run the coffee shop, clothing store and ice cream store are courteous, kind and just generally make you feel welcome , opened early do we could have coffee before we took off for nantucket ! Stayed over Labour Day weekend. Dock staff were nice. But everything else¡ 1. Did not confirm slip for hours until we arrived 2. Slip was broadside against wind and dock is fixed, so many boats hanging at low tide 3. Bathroom literally had sh*t and TP full, at night and through next morning despite us telling staff 4. No hot water in shower 5. Loud disco music played late (some people wouldn’t mind that) Would not recommend for sailboats.

Thank you for staying with us and I'm sorry for the disappointments that you found during your stay. I'm sorry but we are unsure what you mean by item 1. We do have fixed docks, but our dock team continuously monitors the boats and the docks to make sure that the boats don't get hung up at low tide. We do have someone cleaning the public restrooms from 7am to 8pm and in the morning they start at the showers to get them ready as early as needed. Generally speaking this has worked well this summer, however it is clear that on holiday weekends, we need to extend those hours and we will make that a plan for next season. The Dock Bar does have some fun nights, but if you do want to return and are looking for a quieter experience, please make that request through Dockwa. While we can't always accommodate all requests, we do our best! We hope that you will give us another try and I'm so sorry about the bathroom situation.

The pool was very dirty and there was no one checking to see if people at the pool were guests, the restaurant was empty but took over 2 hours to get food for 4 people and they failed to make one of the dinners, the electric went out several time, the restrooms by the cafe were out of service and there was no air conditioning in the restrooms by the pool. Management was told of the issues, but did nothing.

We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. I am unaware of the issues that you mention in any recent time. The pool has truly been beautiful, food service has been quick and with lots of positive feedback and our bathrooms have not been out of service. There have been a few occasions where our generators are switched and the power is off for less than 20 minutes. We try to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. I can only think that perhaps you were here earlier in the season when we were having problems with the pool and some plumbing issues. Those have since been resolved and again I'm very sorry that your stay was affected by them.

Extremely disappointing. 11pm docks were super quiet. Only one person at the bar. Woke up at 12:30am, Sunday night, someone trying to board my boat. 15 people on the dock, dancing on the tables and throwing chairs. Complete chaos! Have tried to call the Dockmaster three times, left him messages to return the call. Nada. Currently unsafe for boaters. Need security to keep partiers off of yachts. Dangerous.

We are so sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. We did watch the video cameras from the bar that night and did not see anyone throwing chairs or trying to board your boat. We did see folks dancing though and that the bar closed at 1:00am. We also checked with our bartenders and our night security and unfortunately, they didn't see anything out of the ordinary either. Good staff and mostly enjoyable stay but not worth the price when you can pay half at Payne’s. Laundry machines not working which was a BIG NEGATIVE. Soap machines in mens rooms sometimes working sometimes not, barely any towels at the pool, bathrooms still below average despite change in management. We like the new fire pits and the tent area. We’ve been coming here for 5 yrs in a row and thinking whatever upgrades done recently focused on hotel rooms and not much for the docks. There doesn’t seem to be much value except for the pool but not at twice the price vs the neighbor marinas.

Facility continues to improve. One major negative is related to the bar. Inebriated young patrons continue to be served until they become loud and obnoxious, screaming obscenities while walking from the marina. Felt unsafe.

This was my first time staying here. Every time I come to Block I would stay at Payne’s marina. I decided to Pay the extra money and stay here instead, thinking it will be much nicer. I was very disappointed to say the least. Food at the breakfast place was not good, the pool was old with tiles falling off it, bathrooms were not cleaned regularly and were disgusting most of the time, the docks were old and almost fell off the floating ones a few times. With the amount of money there charging, almost double Payne’s I will not be coming back.

We do have all of the public bathrooms cleaned hourly (the pool area, plaza area and the dock) every day. The docks are definitely in need of replacement. The staff was not the best at helping to dock and there just aren't enough of them. The grounds are nice, the view from the hill is gorgeous at sunset. The electrical is a problem. Sparks came flying out of one of the units. There is virtually no wifi. Lastly, I like private marinas that do not allow political flags. Trump 2020, really? He lost. Strongs Marina in Mattituck does it right!

Generally speaking, we receive a lot of compliments on the dock team and I know they will be disappointed to know that they didn't meet your expectations. We did come across some electrical issues last week and had an electrician out within a few days. We are planning on making upgrades to the dock electrical system this winter! We have also been working diligently on the wifi issues we have been experiencing this year. Our provider has told us that there is "unexplainable interference" and we've been trying a number of ways to work around this. We are very thankful for everyone's patience and understanding as there is no easy fix. We hope you will visit us again next year!

We have been boating to Champlin’s Marina since 1996 and it has always been a pleasure to stay at the resort. Although there have been many upgrades since the new owners took over, at the marina and at the resort rooms, which we booked two this year during our marina stay. The marina/resort just gets better and better. The dock staff has always been very friendly and helpful especially Bailey the dock master as well as Olivia & Ally to name a few. I was at Champlin's from July 28th-31 as part of a Princess rendezvous. The Princess "event" was wonderful but the marina was not. The two bathrooms at the end of the dock ranged from filthy to out of order. The pool was closed half of the time due to poor maintenance. But what really made me mad was the lack of pricing transparency. The posted price on their website for a 55' boat was/is $9/ft weekdays and $10.25/ft weekends. I was charged a lump sum that was over $12/ft. I asked for an itemized bill 4 times and was told they could not provide one. I spoke to the dockmaster and he informed me there is small print on the website that says "base rates are subject to change during holidays, events and peak weekends". The fact that Princess held an event that brought in 34 boats to dock at Champlin's resulted in Champlins raising the dockage rate over 20% and never informing me of the change or providing documentation other than the overall charge through Dockwa. I find this practice unacceptable. Oh, I forgot to mention the Wi-Fi did not work either😩

We are so sorry about the disappointments during your stay. We did have a pump go out at the dock bar bathrooms and it did create quite a mess. We got the plumbers there as soon as we could the next day and got them cleaned up. We are sorry for the inconvenience of having to use the midship bathrooms during this time. The bathrooms are cleaned hourly but we will make an effort to check them more often. The pool was closed for most of one day as we got the new equipment in so that we could address the color issues. It truly wasn't due to "poor maintenance." We have been struggling with the color and clarity, but the pool has been safe to use and open. During your stay, it was fixed and was beautiful for the Princess Pool Party that was planned. In regards to the pricing and billing, you should have received a confirmation at the time of booking showing your total and your deposit. We double checked and your reservation rate was never changed, it was always the same on your reservation. Dockwa doesn't provide a "daily" breakout on the rates and we are sharing that feedback with them so that they know how unhappy you were with that and how it affected your stay. Our rates are fluid and based on availability at the time at which you book. We aren't able to offer group discounts during our peak season times and this was discussed with Princess Yachts when the arrangements were being made. We are glad to see how much of the Princess Event you did enjoy and we truly loved having all of you here for the weekend!

I have been going to Champlin’s for over 20 years, but since the new ownership took over, the marina has had terrible customer service. Last year (the first year of the new ownership) we had many issues, but we figured it was the new company getting used to the operation. This year (mid July 2022) we stayed for 5 days. The pool was green & murky, to the point where you couldn’t see people’s feet in the water. The Wi-Fi, which last year they said will all be fixed, was still not functioning. They attempted to roll out a towel service by the pool, but after the staff putting about 6 towels out, nobody would replenish. I tried to speak with the staff about the issues, they didn’t have any management onsite to speak with & could only recommend calling the phone number. I tried calling, only to leave a message without a return call. Finally, a few weeks after our stay, someone returned my email & admitted to the issues, without any resolution. They basically say it was a learning curve. Why am I paying full price for them to learn? It is sad but I don’t think we will return to Champlin’s. The sentiment of most boaters I spoke with was the same as mine, big disappointment.

I am very sorry to see of your disappointing stay with us. We definitely had been struggling with the color and clarity of the pool through late July. We brought in a pool technician in addition to Ecolab and they worked diligently to try to rectify the situation. The water was clean and safe to be in, but it certainly wasn't pretty and we are grateful for those guests who still found that they could enjoy the pool. While it is too late for your trip, the situation has now been remedied and the pool is pretty and clear. We have been trying to roll out towel service this year and that also has not gone as smoothly as we have hoped. It is definitely a lesson to be learned and we will be better prepared for next year with more towels. We have a number of managers, myself included, who are on property every day and even available after hours for emergencies. I'm not sure why our staff didn't let us know that you were looking for us and we will reiterate to all of them that we are available and want to help! The wifi was working properly at the beginning of the season and in July suddenly stopped working. In addition to the guest wifi, our administrative wifi was interrupted which meant that our phones did not work properly. We reached out immediately to our provider and they struggled to get the proper equipment to the Island as quickly as we all hoped. With the remoteness of the Island, not all problems can be fixed right away. Again, I'm sorry that you were disappointed with your stay and hope that you will reconsider.

We are a family who have been docking at Champlins for over 40 years. Our grandchildren are now with us on our annual week at Champlins. The dock master Bailey is just wonderful, ensures we tie up easily on arrival, and at the threat of a storm he came around and secured every boat in the Marina! We do miss the kid friendly amenities that used to be part of the experience, the playground and game room has been removed and there isn't even a kid menu at the pool, and they no longer do drop off laundering of towels and sheets. It is wonderful to be away from the craziness of Old Harbor and enjoy the beautiful views from Champlins, we will be back next year,

We stayed at their hotel and placed our 33' boat in a slip at their marina. Marina help were terrific, "buyer beware" the marina does not use a private slip method for boats under 40', we were sandwiched between two other 40-48' boats with our access/egress off the stern. No privacy. It was a nerve wracking docking experience and our "cozyness" with our dockmates added to our desire not to sit in the boat and enjoy the boat. I will visit again with a tender and using a mooring, as I have no intention of buying something over 48' to get Champlins attention. Hotel: i'd give it 3 stars, we were in a room with no view and the old wood building is thin walled and we were able to hear all the neighbors above us clomping about until the "wee" hours. NO local News or weather channels availble on our in room tv. Daily room service to clean and restock: let us run oyut of touilet paper and shampoo, but after my trek to the front desk I was given the supplies promptly. Alot of creepy crawly bugs in the room the first night, my wife stayed on bug erradication patrol for a couple of hours and we got enough of them to sleep later that night without nightmares.

Docks in decent shape. Dock hands courteous and capable. Facilities lacking..pool dirty..no laundry…barbecue accessibility as carrying your food and needed cooking items uphill can be an issue for some..Miss the good old days at Champlins..understand new mgmt trying to “get it right” but getting rid of the charm and kids fun to become more upscale probably doesn’t cut it with the general family oriented boaters..

Staff, amenities and location we’re all great. Slip provided was 12 feet too small for the boat which caused challenges on the first day securing the boat to the dock. This was resolved by tying a spring line to the bow of the boat behind us which kept our boat from pounding into the dock , however it made it difficult to use our boat while at Block Island.

Excellent dock staff. Love the changes and improvements too the facilities!! Champlin’s get’s better and better. Papa Jim really helped me out when I arrived. Couldn’t get on and off my boat at the fixed dock. He moved us to a floating dock, and set me up with a needed gang plank. He was very accommodating.

We booked on a Friday for a Saturday night stay (in July). On Saturday we got turned around because my sailboat's auxiliary engine stopped working - stopping us from navigating the channel and potential docking. We sailed home, back to Mystic and used a towing service to return to our slip. I asked for a refund and was told it was not Champlin's Policy....So after a hefty towing fee, the $350, I would have gladly paid for a night's stay, becomes a kick in the teeth. Well done, it would appear you want our (the boaters) money and not our business. Very Bummed. Champlin's can do better.

Love how clean and organized the dock is - loads of bins clearly labeled for trash or recycles, bins with lids that can be latched. These bins were never, not once, at risk of overflowing with garbage they were kept clean - this was no matter of how many boats or people were on the pier. Dock Master Baily and his right hand man Mike clearly run a tight ship - no complaints.

Dockhands were excellent, bar and live music were great and we had a wonderful time! My only complaint is the food at the store and the restaurant. Chicken wrap had almost no chicken and we were shortchanged on a few things at the restaurant.

Champlin's Dock had lots of activities and entertainment. There is a restaurant and plenty of places to eat and buy souvenirs. We only stayed one night, but we enjoyed ourselves. The dock where we tied off is a stationary dock, so we had to be mindful of the tides. I checked the lines several times and adjusted them twice before I got a happy medium. One comment is that their prices are quite high, but I did not have to worry about rafting off of another boat as they do not seem to do that anymore at Champlin's. At least they did not do that this weekend.

Our dock space was great! Dock master, Bailey is friendly and is on it! The cafe has improved but food is just adequate. We miss the live music, especially on holiday weekend. DJ was too loud and I don’t think he contributed to the fun. Unfortunately pool was still green but service and conditions are still improving. Lorraine at front desk was helpful and charming.

Avoid Champlin's if you possibly can! It is noisy at all hours of the night and the bathrooms look like they haven’t been cleaned for over a week. Champlin's put us in Slip SF1 because they knew it was going to be noisy that night and SF1 was supposed to be quiet. But it was still noisy! Imagine watching inebriated boaters stumbling down the dock at 2 am! When do I call 911? I complained about the noise the next morning. I was told I should have called the manager at midnight, then 1:00 am, then 2 am, then 3:00 am and so on. And the inebriated boater at 2 am? Champlin's reports they fish a lot of drunken boaters out of the water in the summer months. But unlike other marinas where we've stayed during this trip, such as Safe Harbor marinas, Champlin's never gave us the numbers to call with problems or in an emergency. For the price Champlin's charges, you'd expect a welcome package with important information about the marina, including the phone number to call with concerns. No welcome package. In fact, bring your own hose if you need to fill your water tank. This is NOT a destination resort! We would advise boaters NOT to use Champlin’s.

I enjoyed my stay. This a resort in the fullest sense of the word. There’s a lot of services offered. However, my stay was in late Sept and I was one of three boats at what is normally a very crowded facility. My beef is that I had to float for 20 minutes before getting help from a dockhand at arrival. No one gave me the shower code. The dock bar played music late into the night, breaking the tranquil fall setting. The good points-easy access to town, a great breakfast at the dock cafe and good WiFi (I was working remotely) outweighed the bad. The price, nearly 900 bucks (15 for 110v a night!) for a 40ft sailboat during off season was hard to swallow. If it weren’t for the WiFi, I would have been swinging on a morning for 50 bucks a night. My choice, so be it.

our stay was awesome! we really enjoyed the marina and especially the mudslides. the facilities were very nice and the shps store was fully stocked and had very good food. The only downside for us was the dock light being too high and too bright making it hard to sleep.

We booked this marina because we wanted a more premium experience which we thought would be reflected by its very high price. We found the staff to be extremely inattentive. Several members of our party let the staff know that there was no toilet paper in the men’s bathroom for three days in a row, and it was never taken care of. It became so bad that other guests had begun using paper towels instead of toilet paper and throwing it on the floor creating absolutely disgusting conditions. On the third day, the toilet paper dispenser had been ripped off the wall by what we assumed was another frustrated guest, and it was still laying on the floor, empty of course when we left. These kinds of conditions are absolutely unacceptable, especially given the exorbitant prices Champlin’s charges per foot. We came in with high hopes for the new management and we’re extremely disappointed.

Rowdy, loud, drunken, foul mouthed boat owners and guests with boat girls dressed like prostitutes, really took away from the excellent location, amenities, and service of Champlin's Marina and Resort. The dinghy for the boat across from us had molded rubber female buttock sex toy prominently displayed on the bench seat.

For my first time at Block Island and at Champlin's, I must say that the staff was always there to assist especially when we needed to leave with a few other boats blocking our way, they managed to make the necessary changes and allow me to be on my way and on schedule. Facilities were great although I do not recommend the pizza, although as a Brooklynite, I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to pizza.

Solid facilities with good staff but in going upscale it's lost some of it's charm. It's not as much fun when you're tied up between 100' plus size boats. The Mary A., coming in at 154', basically privatized a whole finger while blocking the view.

First time ever boating to BI and was very happy with the marina. Very accommodating and professional. I was however very disappointed in the ice cream shop and snack bar. The guy at the snack bar took my order for a breakfast sandwich and orange juice. Sat there for 30 mins waiting and then he asks if we needed to order. He never put the order in! To add to it he made zero effort to redeem his mistake. The ice cream shop is of course over priced. That’s not my issue because you expect that. What you don’t expect is a stale waffle cone and a cup of frost bitten ice cream. Not to mention the young guy behind the counter not wearing gloves while handling food. So lets fast forward to 2021 vacation. Champlin's under new ownership. We stayed there from the 8th through the 14th. We arrived around 10 am and had a short wait until we could dock. The deck hands were great. we settled in and just like everyone else in this technology driven world we live in we all connected to Champlins WIFI. It worked great and I was happy about that because I still have a business to run from a far this week. Lets fast forward to Tuesday night when all of a sudden no WIFI. it was late so i went to sleep figuring maybe it was a glitch and would be all set by the morning. It was not. I called the office and spoke to someone who said they would check it and get back to me. 24 hours later no call and no WIFI. So i called again and spoke to a young man who claimed he worked in IT at a previous job and asked me to reset my phone. I knew this wasn't the issue because all four of us had done that already. Once we discovered it wasn't our devices the young man in so many words told me the WIFI on the island was sketchy and I most likely had to deal with it. Mind you when I walked from my boat to the middle of the marina the WIFI worked fine. So for the rest of the week we dealt with limited television and no WIFI at the boat. Lets fast forward to Friday night. This is the last night of vacation at Champlin's. We decide to go to the bar by the fuel dock for some entertainment and of course mudslides. My daughter Ashley who is 25 years of age asked me if I wanted drinks for the table and of course I did and gave her my Discover card. Mind you she's been getting drinks here all week long! The male bartender who I bought drinks from all week asked her for an ID. Her ID was back at the boat so she came back to the table and I got up and walked to the bar and ordered the drinks. At this time it was the female bartender who took my order. Well the male bartender VERY sternly asked me if the drinks were for me and my wife and I said they were for me, my wife and my daughter. he then instructed the female bartender not to serve me the third drink until we furnished an ID. I looked at him very politely and said sir she's my daughter and was born in April 1996! He then raised his voice slightly and said "don't I have the right to ask for an ID?" I said of course you do but I'm telling you she's 25!! He then repeaded to the female bartender not to serve the third drink and was giving me such an awful attitude and very dirty looks. I became very upset and yelled at him. he yelled back. It was an awful experience. Now I wont sit here and say he was wrong for asking for my daughters ID! He wasn't but the way he spoke to a patron that spent close to $4,000 to stay there was disgraceful and disrespectful. My daughter went to the boat and got her ID and he inspected it very closely. Never in my life have I been treated this way. Even after this was over he continued to give dirty looks throughout the night. What an awful ending to my stay there. This is not how you treat a customer. Not to mention the patrons at the bar shaking their heads at him and some at me! The woman with that piece of crap sailboat with the "Make America gay again flag" wouldn't stop giving me dirty looks and shaking her head while sitting across the bar watching the whole thing unfold. Making me feel like I was in the wrong. Perhaps I could have handled things a bit differently but there was no need for this bartender to treat and talk to me the way he did.

The new renovations look great and the lack of rafting is a big plus. We have been going to Champlins for more than 20 years. Although the place was quite honestly, a dump, our favorite part of going there was enjoying family meals around the grills. We have celebrated many family occasions there and have fond memories of those times. Sadly, the grills are no longer there and instead have been moved up a steep hill which is very inconvenient and inaccessible, to say nothing of the diesel fumes billowing from the generators next door. In view of the huge price increase, I think they could rethink the decision to move the grills and bring them back where they belong and can be more easily used. Steve Sowa. “ Baby Tooth”

Nice Marina. Clean facilities and nice staff. But the staff have no control over the drunk idiots that party all night on their boats. Music blasting at volume 10 from 5 different boats. Screaming and parting till 1am with absolutely no regard for other Mariners, guests or those with children.

Boating activities with staff continues to be good, however the elimination of laundry services, removing the grocery store and the game rooms is not promising for future trips to this marina. Also the distance between the kitchen and the Cafe is ridiculous. The restaurant near pool has been also eliminated. No towels available at pool, and bathrooms needed attention.

Plans are currently underway to reintroduce laundry services (although it might not be ready for opening). We have stayed at Champlin’s Marina many many times….it has always been our favorite summer destination. This last visit left us disappointed. We knew that the resort was under new ownership and that renovations had been made. However, it just seemed as though Champlin’s was not yet prepared for the season and if that was stated on their website, we would have at least been given a heads up. They no longer have; a sit down restaurant (which was so convenient and served amazing dishes and drinks), playground, arcade, bikes/paddle board/moped rentals, laundry service, and the new ice cream shop was not yet open. Basically, everything that made the resort fantastic is gone. The positives; the cafe workers are friendly, Bailey the dock hand is on top of everything, the landscaping looks phenomenal, the renovations look clean and modern but still needs attention to many areas. One more thing to add, I had a medical emergency and I received assistance on my boat in a matter of 5 minutes. So thank you very very much for the quick medical attention. We truly hope that Champlin’s takes all of these reviews into consideration, because changes for the better can always be made. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to Champlin’s anytime soon. It’s time to try the other Marinas that Block Island offers.

As you might have known, we have only just begun our upgrades and changes here at Champlin's and as a consequence will be able to address a number of the amenities you have mentioned as we continue our transition. Our ice cream shop - The Sugar Shack - is now open seven days per week from noon to 8PM. We have now also been able to grow our team enough to reopen our waterfront dining option at the Galley House every weekend from 5:30PM to 9:00PM. We are still working to bring bicycle rentals and passive water sport rentals into our experience this season. Delivery times and team capacity are still affecting both of these this year but we are confident of their inclusion within next season's experience. Laundry service this year has also been affected by delivery and supply times but is part of this winter's renovation plan and a brand new 24-Hour, self-serve laundry facility will be available to our guests next year. As you might have seen, we have added a myriad of children's games and activities on our new event lawn and will continue to add more of these wholesome, family-focused, activities. One of our favorites to come for children is the construction of a small fishing pier in our beautiful fresh water pond which we will stock with fish so kids can fish there and for squid on the docks. We also hope the addition of resort wide WiFi added some access to entertainment for young and old alike on their tablets and mobile devices. Again - we do thank you for being our guest here at Champlin's and would very much like to have you back as our guests again.

Block Island is a great destination and Champlins is the only marina with a pool. The new owners have made some changes most noticeable are the grounds but I don’t think for the better. The grills were moved from the walkway leading to the docks which is good idea but should have been moved to the grassy area where there are now picnic tables and some lawn games. Placing the grills all the way at the top of the hill makes carrying food, charcoal etc. cumbersome. The pool is always cold and needs re surfacing. Bathrooms are not very clean with mold on those shower curtains that were present;Many were not. internet was still weak as always although electric seems improved. No more rafting which is good. Dock staff were not as experienced in tying boats properly but pleasant. With the new ownership very overpriced and increasing

While we realize that moving the location of the grills was controversial, there were a number of guests who were happy to see them moved away from the Cafe and the Sugar Shack. Upgrades to the pool area are in the plans, but unfortunately not for 2022. Nice yard and cafe. Nice access to block island. Excellent docking service on arrival, not so helpful on departure which was difficult. It's only ten minutes but the 8 pm horn honking and music playing is absurdly loud.

Manage your expectations - this is a loud party Marina. Staff is nice. The boats are jammed in, so be prepared for a modified med tie. Lots and lots of kids in the summer and the pool is really nice.

What an improvement! The new owners of Champlain’s clearly knew exactly what was needed. The grounds are immaculate. The smelly dumpsters are gone. There are new picnic tables, chairs overlooking the marina and they moved the grills out of the main dock flow.

Beautiful place however boats are packed in like sardines. They move people around after they are tied up. The restaurant was not open and there is no notice of this when you book or on the website. Marina is well kept. Pool was nice but shower bathrooms should have AC.

We last visited Champlin's in July 2019. Our review after that trip was "5 Stars - Definitely coming back." Since then Champlin's was bought by new owners. I totally get the limitations of doing a major renovation on an island, but it sure was disappointing that on this visit there was no restaurant, no washer-dryers, just a nice little snack bar for coffee, breakfast and sandwiches. The pool is in urgent need of upgraded filters, and the bathrooms were generally unattended and in need of cleaning. All tolerable as I'm sure will be fixed by next season. The real problem was the courtesy (or lack thereof) of the other boaters. When we last visited, the composition was 1/3 sailboats, 2/3's powerboats. This time around, we were one of two sailboats - all the rest were powerboats. I wasn't sure if this was an organized fleet visit, or a coincidence, but the docks were swarmed with large families. Again tolerable. What was not tolerable was the disco music and loud conversations that prevailed until 2AM both nights we were there. At one point, we considered filing a noise complaint with the local police, but ultimately let it go. Bottom line, next time we visit Block Island, we'll stay on a mooring. Best David and Randy

Block Island is beautiful and well worth traveling there. However, Champlins was massively disappointing on several levels. 1. They pack boats in way too closely creating at times an unsafe docking environment. 2. We were placed next to the waterfront bar where music is played excessively loud from noon to past 11:00 at night. It was loud enough that we were unable to hear our television inside our boat with the doors shut. The 11:00 curfew was ignored both nights we were there. 3. It is way overpriced. The facility needs serious upgrading - and they charge prices as expensive as first class facilities on Nantucket or other places. There is new ownership and we are hopeful they will make the needed improvements and investments. Until they do, I would go elsewhere.

Disappointed. Been staying at Champlins for the better part of 35 years. The family fun (Arcade, bikes, playground, easily accessible grills) are gone. If they want to charge Gurney's prices they should provide Gurney's amenities & service. Pool is the same as the last 20 years, beat up and cold, restaurant closed, a cafe that serves the worst Pizza I've ever eaten and breakfast fare that is no better. Nice that the trash Compactor is out of sight but please empty the ever overflowing trash receptacles! On the positive side, the landscaping improvements do dress the place up and the dock power seemed stable. I'll spend more time in Montauk next trip East!

It was disappointing stay compared to 2 years ago when we were there. The bumper boats and arcade are both gone. We were also disappointed in the lack of ventilation in the bathrooms and how slippery the tile floors were. They were also seemed short staffed considering the bar/restaurant by the pool wasn't open during the week and there were a few times toilet paper was super low in the ladies rooms and they weren't exactly the cleanest at some points in the day. The pool looked like the sides had not been scrubbed in years. And we probably would've overlooked all this and not written any review because we had a good time anyway, but the miscommunication when we booked another day, only to be asked to leave because they had screwed up, was very frustrating. I hope they work on all of these complaints because according to the cab drivers, there was not one positive review from anyone staying at the marina!

We had high hopes with the change in ownership; however, sadly they fell short. They removed all kid friendly activities that made it family oriented. They made grounds more attractive but, not functional moving grills to a location that is not easy to access carting food. The restaurant and snack bar were closed and the cafe had very limited options. The pool is still not heated and the cement around pool needs resurfacing. All in all very disappointing.

Champlin's seems to be the premier marina in New Harbor on Block Island. The rates are highest, but the facilities are very good, and a slip was available on 2 weeks notice for a Sunday night & Monday night in July. Dock staff was friendly and helpful. There is a well-kept swimming pool (lots of kids) and a bar and restaurant adjacent, although the restaurant was closed during our visit for lack of staff. Closer to the docks they have a carry-out "cafe" with hot pizza, boxed sandwiches & salads, beer, etc. and a bar overlooking the harbor on the second story over the dockmaster's office at the outer end of the central pier. We were told that the marina has recently been bought by new owners who have invested a substantial amount to improve it. We did not use the showers, but the bathroom's were clean. By comparison with Newport (as a reference point), Block Island is less intensively thronged with visitors, but the downtown area is full of pedestrians and the roads are full of bicycles. Car, moped and bile rentals are readily available, the coast is scenic from roads as well as from the water, and there are plenty of restaurants. (This was our first time there.)

My friends and I have stayed several times at Champlin's over the years with always a great experience. Unfortunately it looks like we will be heading to one of the other marinas in Block Island. I have a 29 foot and my friends boats are 25 and 26 feet. With the new owners it is a 35 foot minimum charge each night at $9 a ft plus electric. This is a big increase per foot over the previous years. It seams like they only want the larger boats as customers which is a shame because I really have enjoyed my stays there. I wish the new owners much success.

Been staying at Chaplin's for the past 20 years.....Most of the tome had a wonderful experience.... This year under new management many things have changed for the worst.... Good news first new owners cleaned the place up and eliminated rafting... However bad news...Champlin's is no longer a family place... Restaurant was closed, playground swing set gone, no ice cream, play room gone, new dock personally poorly trained hard to find anyone in charge on the docks, no electric upgrade for larger yacht.....Our yacht 93' Viking had to run generator the entire week... Very disappointed....Now looking for other dockage alternative for next year...Will not be back this year...

The Sugar Shack is going to be open this year and we are planning on introducing a number of outdoor games and activities. We had a 5 night stay through the 4th of July weekend. Marina upgrades were great and the new no rafting policy was a nice change. No one jumping on and off your boat in the middle of the night. Dock attendants were always 5 star and continue to be. Unfortunately they are dealing with staffing shortages like everyone else. Restaurant and ice cream parlor were not open and the new upstairs bar was also without staff to operate. Same time next year I'm sure it will be top notch and 5 stars.

This year they are under new management, and rates increased a bit, however, they have done wonderful improvements to property, including updates to the bathrooms decking, an all new expanded Cafe and much more. My stay was from June 28-30. Weather was perfect. Dock hands very helpful w fuel and docking. However my dockhand after helping w docking, moved my e bike from my boat to the dock. Within a minute my wife’s $3500 e bike was blown over into the salt water and rendered unfunctional. This changed our plans for our stay on the island. my florida and Ny bike dealers said the bike was toast. I would like to see a shower for boaters closer to the docks, possibly near the dock bathrooms and also a way of unlocking the pool gate closest to the water from inside.

Great "vacation" spot; lots of showers and clean bathrooms. Large pool and beach on premises. Restaurant and bar, fuel, pumpout, ice all convenient. The staff was outstanding. Site is large with lots of amenities. Some were still opening such as the coffee shop and ice cream hut. Taxis await to take you into town or to the bluffs and lighthouse. Even though we were there on "Race Weekend", the service was great. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fun, "all-inclusive" feel.

Stayed at the new and improved Champlin’s. Appreciate the amount of clean up they have done to the property, no more dreaded rafting, polite, knowledgeable and super helpful dock hands! Most important you can still get the famous mudslides, but you will do so on a cleaned up dock, new tables and chairs. It is pricey than it used to be, but you can justify with all the improvements. Keep up the great work Champlin’s!!!

The marina looks great, not everything is open yet but close. The dockmaster, Bailey, did a great job communicating with me and was very accommodating. The new no rafting policy and dockage fee will certainly change the experience at Champlin's. We look forward to returning.

Champlins property is so clean and beautifully decorated with lovely flower pots. I really enjoyed my breakfast at the Galley House- the avocado toast w/scrambled was delicious and the view was incredible. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I look forward to my next visit in July!

arrived at the marina sept4,2020, labor day weekend , as we had a reservation for a 3 night stay. On our arrival at 3 pm we found the marina to be severely overbooked, large boats rafted 3 abreast . i was directed to my slip by the dock staff which did not have enough water for my 42’ boat, causing damage to my props.i was assured by the dock master that his insurance would compensate me for the damage. now 3 months later and i have received no compensation from the marina or their insurance

The attitude here is 10-fold better than Payne's. More amenities and much better service. We were there 2 weeks ago. Showers were cold so they gave us a room to use the shower. They made an effort for all our needs. Their amenities were all open despite very few boats during this fall week. Enjoyable stay!

Never Again Have stayed here several times before and wouldn’t plan on ever coming back. Rude dock master, Fixed Docks, Cold Showers and it’s loud. Better off in the harbor on the hook.

This was our first time at Block Island. We were looking forward to a great experience, however practically from the beginning our mood soured very much to the point of being very upset with several things: 1. The marina was overcrowded with boats, where they were stacking us two to three boats deep and three boats wide and these were not small boats. Most boats were 50ft+. It felt like everyone were on top of each other.... 2. We stayed at the marina for three nights (Friday to Monday), but it was impossible to leave the dock by boat and go for a swim in the bay area. 3. Dock crew was very experienced and quick, but unceremonious and never bothered to ask permission to board the boat during the docking or when they were tying other boats to ours (stacking us three wide). 4. The close proximity of the neighboring boats at times was uncomfortable. 5. Although our Dockwa reservations was correct in the Dockwa system, upon checking in at the office, I discovered that they had our reservation screwed up in their system. The person at check in was border line rude saying that my reservations were only for two nights instead of three and my pricing was way higher in their system. Only after insisting to see the manager, whom I had to wait for to come from another office at the other side of the marina, this problem was resolved according to my original Dockwa reservation. 6. There were no welcome packets given to us with the information about the marina and its amenities. 7. WIFI was not powerful enough to reach our boat, although we were only fifty feet away from the dock office. In summary, this was a very frustration experience, which will keep us away from Champlin's for any foreseeable future.

I wish the Governor of RI would visit this place. No social distancing, no masks being used by the staff and guest, and bathrooms were discussing. We originally were planning to stay two days but got the heck out of there after one. Stay away!

It’s a very nice Marina and the employees were great. My only complaint was there was no music whatsoever. I understand the whole COVID thing, however, people are still paying premium rates and it didn’t have the vacation vibe that we all pay for. A guy/girl with a guitar or even some background music by the pool or by the tables would have added a lot to the experience.

Our location at the marina was fantastic. We rafted with our friends which was previously planned and Champlains was able to accommodate. Marina staff are professional and all wearing masks. This was my first time in Block Island and Champlins was the perfect spot. Our 2 day stay was absolutely perfect from even before we arrived. I read a lot of reviews of Champlins and was actually hesitant because of some negative reviews out there. I felt I had to submit this just to counter all of that nonsense. The communication in advance of our stay and all the way up to the dock was outstanding. The dock staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We came in during some rough weather and they made sure our approach and tie up was flawless. The marina is in a nice quiet spot and just a short ride or walk to town. Bike rentals right on property cabs available in minutes any time of day. I can’t recommend Champlins enough.

The dock hands were AMAZING! fit my 40'er into a space like a glove and same on the way out. I never thought they could get me out. VERY well taken care of in that respect. Con: When I arrived and was put into the slip there was no welcoming, information, direction on amenities etc. I had never been there and was surprised with the cost of the dockage compared to others in the area that there wouldn't be more of a "service oriented" type of welcoming. The place was great but I had to figure out everything on my own with no direction on anything. Would be a nice addition for this higher end location.

Great location, mudslides (best on the island!) and facilities (very spacious and clean). Food & drink is good & convenient, though pricey. The yogurt parfait would be even better if the granola was on the side vs on the yogurt & soggy. Dockhands could use more training in customer service and boatmanship. It seemed most were not adept at managing lines - especially when assistance is appreciated (smaller boats without bow thrusters or uncooperative winds or new captains). The number of dockhands greeting incoming boats was also very inconsistent. Often the boaters were assisting one another though that also seemed frowned upon by the staff.

We have been going every Labor Day Weekend and enjoy participating in the Christmas decorating contest. Even took 4th place this year. Everything you need is at the marina...food concession and bakery, gaming arcade, laundry, movie theatre, pool, bathrooms and showers, bar at end of dock, bike rentals. Dock employees are very knowledgeable and assisted all with dockage.

Mostly marred by a few issues around times the showers being open until (6:00pm, which is entirely too early to have a full day at the beach and try to get back in time to clean up), and poor placement of vessel. The biggest reason for the 2 stars was because the manager of the property, Randy, was rude, dismissive and overly apathetic to any customer requests or complaints. he actually called one of our issues 'trivial.'

I wasn't very happy with the marina. The dock hands were good. But the place was dirty. Trash cans overflowing. Pool was dirty. They closed the bar and restaurant for a group that was there. They rafted us 3 wide. My wife fell trying to cross swim platforms. we are 60 and its not always easy.

My stay was better than I thought it would be. Could not get power at my location and needed to run the engine several times to charge batteries. Dock hands could be better trained - they are dealing with expensive boats. Rest rooms & showers were much better maintained than what I remember in the past.

I waited several days to write the review to be fair. We would never stay at this place again. It is clear safety of boats and personal is not a priority to the owners. Boasts tacked 2 to 3 deep with no access in or out of the marina creeks. The lack of trained personal is clear and evident. I give it 1 star due to the location only!

We spent two nights at Champlains this week. The staff members were friendly and helpful, the pool was dirty, the docks were decent, the surrounding area is beautiful. On our first night they put us on the outside end of the farthest dock towards the inside of the harbor. We went to bed around midnight and at 1am my wife woke up startled saying that someone was on our boat and that she heard footsteps on deck. My first assumption was that she was crazy but after a few minutes she convinced me to go on deck and have a look around. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary so I went back to bed. A half hour later she heard the same noises again. Regretfully I stayed below deck this time and went to sleep. The next morning we awoke to our coolers being robbed. Our boat and the boat next to us. They took water, alcohol, Gatorade, and $1,000 worth of yeti coolers and fishing lures. The manager that morning was somewhat helpful in calling the police for us. They refused to show us the surveillance camera footage but claim they gave it to police. They told us conflicting stories once that they had footage of another patron leaving the bar and stealing our stuff, bringing it back to his boat, and then a story of teenage pirates coming in on paddle boards and robbing us. Later that day I went back to the office and found a short and stumpy dismissive and arrogant grumpy little elf of a man in the place of the manager. I later found out this little guy was actually the owner!!!! I simply asked him if they had anymore information on the robbery and he immediately got a rude tone and asked me if he looked like the police. I told him there was no need to be nasty and that I was only asking because the manager had told us that there were other cameras that he wanted to have the camera guy check for more evidence. He told me to call the cops if I wanted more information. The whole thing felt shady, as if he was protecting someone. Maybe it was his employees that robbed us who knows. Anyway at no point did we ever get any sort of apology, no offer to move us to a more secure location even though the place was empty the next morning. No offer of any sort of compensation whatsoever. The lack of concern, lack of apology, and the attitude and complete lack of customer service by the OWNER made this experience horrible. The last day I felt obligated to let others know of what happened so that they could secure their belongings and not have the same experience. The cocky SOB of an owner came out and asked me if I wanted to borrow a megaphone to tell people. Do yourself a favor and stay at any other marina other than Champlains. Right next door is Payne’s and it looks like a great spot. We will be staying there our next trip to Block. Again ****BEWARE AND BE WARNED—— STAY AWAY FROM CHAMPLAINS****

Nice location , however I had a reservation for two nights . I entered the marina around 1:00 pm requesting my slip assignment and is dumbfounded when the Dockmaster advised me to stern in perpendicular to the tee head between 160 footer and a high speed ferry . Are you shitting me???? Ok so we tied off to the dock and to the 160 foot charter yacht . A few hours after we set all our lines and dock side water and electric we have to now we tie parallel to the tee head . Adjusting again . Ok after a long day we are settled . The next morning we leave for a few hours and the dock hands untie everything and move our boat with zero notification down to the are the 160 footer was near. No phone call no notice . Make a reservation and be treated like they don’t care .

Sorry to report, the resort overbooked the marina. We had reserved a four night stay ,but had to leave after the first night . They reefed us out as the fourth boat from dock, with boats of 15 ft beams. So, no power, no water and had to crawl over the bows of the other three boats to get on dock. The dock master and staff had great attitude and understanding of the situation . If we were in our twenties to early forties ,probably could have managed ,but in mid sixties not so manageable. I’m sure any other weekend the ,stay would have been just fine. Beautiful area. I do worry about the possibility of a fire , that could be disastrous.
