Report Review

I can’t recommend this facility. I hope Active Captain will look into the repetitious hyperbolic ‘reviews’ that read like they originated from the same person. Details follow: In about 1400 miles of cruising this is the most expensive marina we stayed at. They under-deliver and overstate the quality of the facility and amenities. There is no pool access even though Dockwa shows a beautiful pool. DEPTH ON APPROACH: Our depth finder showed 5.1 ft on approach and departure. DOCK HANDS: There were no dock hands during our 4pm arrival and Steve was not onsite. I stayed in close touch with him about our arrival time as he requested. We were given a slip assignment that would have been extremely difficult without dockside assistance. Steve immediately provided a new slip assignment when I reiterated that we are single screw no thruster and had requested an easy in, easy out during reservation. Steve off-loaded responsibility for the lack of docking assistance by saying he had asked some ‘people on the dock’ to help us out, but ‘somehow they didn’t see us’. The only other people we saw on the dock at our arrival were at one of the Ts we passed, and they saw us come in. We are now on Day 2 and have yet to see a dockhand. MANAGEMENT: Seems harried, disorganized, and understaffed. Steve was apologetic to an uncomfortable extreme that started to feel disinenguous almost immediately. Steve is easily reached via text and voice and quickly responds. SECURITY: Secure gate was left open, via bungee cord, during our two night stay. WIFI: Wifi did not work despite assurances by Steve that it was an aberration that day. He suggested that we were docked too far away and could be relocated (we were exhausted after 3 very long days and had already done all the things you need to do to dock, and declined). We were given a 2nd password to try, and were told to try the unlocked wifi at the neighboring condo complex. I spent a good chunk of my work time trying all of the almost 10 access points with two different passwords. I was offered a spot in the office or the office steps - can’t remember which - my work equipment and files are not easily portable and I require privacy, so I declined. The next day, we were offered a promise that it had been fixed. It still didn’t work. If you read the other reviews Wi-Fi has been an issue here since 2016. CELL SIGNALS: We had AT&T and Verizon two bars. DOCKS: The majority of boards are past needing replacement and some are actually a hazard with popped screws and nails and splintering, the docks are wobbly in places, there are large piles of goose poop that look to have been there for a while. I would say docks are in a declining state, it appears that minimum maintenance is being done. SHOWERS: good water pressure and temperature, clean. VICINITY: Very nice paved paths. Nothing exceptional about the view, it is much like the other pretty views up and down the Hudson. PUMPOUT DISASTER: We had confirmed with Steve before we went to the pumpout that it was functional. Steve said yes. When we went, the poor guy in the Bayliner ahead of us was power washing down his deck and shouting. The pump out had spewed/shot/erupted and there was a huge amount of waste all over HIM, his decks including the flybridge, as well as all over the dock and in the water. He was furious and rightly so. Steve was on the dock and busy texting me instead of helping with cleanup. He apologized and offered a discount for our stay. He also texted “Darn micro blast of wind did way more damage to our ethernet cables and now apparently pumpout lines than i orig thought.” RENTAL CAR DISCOUNT: The corporate code that we were given offers a 5% discount off the internet rate. There is a popular Anchorage for cruisers very close to the nice park on the peninsula, wish we had stayed there.
