Gorgeous spot with deep dockage and every possible amenity available. I absolutely recommend it! Steve is the best dockmaster. He called me within minutes of receiving my reservation and provided all kinds of helpful tips about restaurants and attractions nearby. Steve also checked with us on our arrival date to confirm ETAs, provided multiple pictures and assistance of the marina layout, our docking spot, and everything else we asked. We had such a great stay that we're going back to spend another weekend at Half Moon Bay in a couple of weeks!
Great location. Secure dockage and welcoming staff
Beautiful setting well protected behind the wave fence with floating docks.Steve is the key to this place and is the friendliest and most helpful dockmaster I have met.
Absolutely our favorite marina stay in our 2 year loop! Nice docks, excellent sea wall protection and powerful wifi! Clean restrooms and great amenities, giant bike racks, free pumpout. Town is a very short walk 1/4 mile walk and the digital and paper welcome packets Steve's staff gave us are filled with many choices of inexpensive, close-by restaurants, as well as endless must see local excursions. We went twice to the Greek restaurant Piato. The Ocean House for seafood and Tavern at Croton landing are both amazing as well. Great deals on Enterprise Rental Car which is next door and plenty of free parking at the marina. The Croton Gorge Dam is absolutely stunning and so relaxing. Must see! Tip: water is 2 to 3 feet deeper than charts show on approach as well as inside marina.
We've stayed at a few nearby marinas before visiting here. Half moon bay is outstanding. During a major storm, we felt very safe and the docks were wonderful and protective. Our wide finger pier looked fairly new and had impressive stability. Facilities as well as the quaint town are great! Very easy, quick & flat walk to a great town with lots of variety in restaurants and supermarkets. Approach depth Deep and inside marina is also deep water. WIFI was solid. Walked to the most delicious Greek restaurant, Piato, not even a quarter mile walk to the fabulous Ocean House seafood restaurant and Tavern next door to it. A large CVS, Outstanding produce store called Apple Farm, Ice Cream /Bagel store and anything and everything you can want or need within an easy 1/4 to 1/2 walk. Uber or cabs are only 6 dollars to get around and easy to obtain last minute. We also had our laundry picked up, washed, and returned all folded and perfect within 3 hrs and the price was extremely reasonable. Do it yourself laundry is a super close by place too, and quite convenient... Steve provides you w a google doc that is so informative with maps , directions, endless local places to check out… Nice men’s and women’s restrooms. Steven’s office mgr got us a coupon code for Enterprise that gave us a nice discount! Don’t miss visiting the gorgeous waterfalls at the Croton Dam. Rented powered bikes from Pedego in town and rode there as well as endless other trails that start from the marina entrance. Can’t wait for a return trip in the fall. Of the hundreds of marinas we have been to in the past 3 decades, this is one of our most memorable. Highly recommend this marina to anyone. Thanks guys!
We had a great stay. Steve is the most responsive and accommodating dock master we have met in our over 100 marina experiences on the Great Loop.
Steve (Marina Managing Partner) is always extremely helpful…even for late arrivals. He also provides lots of great advice on local areas to see.
Excellent destination. Everything was fantastic and we will visit again this season. Steve went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The facilities are really nice and local restaurants are excellent and in walking distance. Thanks!!
It is a very pretty marina. We enjoyed the walking trail and the stores and restaurants were within a mile of the marina. Apple Farm is an awesome grocery store and A&S Deli made great subs and salads. Dinner at Ocean House was excellent if you like seafood. Sebastian and Steve at the marina were very helpful. I didn’t realize that gas was not available right there though. The restrooms and showers were clean and there was a gym and sauna which I think were available to the transients but I didn’t use them.
We stayed for 2 nights. Very attentive staff and a well protected marina. Wonderful Greek restaurant, ice cream, bagels and deli within walking distance. Beautiful Croton Gorge Dam/Park a short Uber ride away.
Our first visit was pleasurable! Friendly and helpful dockmaster and assistant. Lots to do in the area. A great Greek restaurant within walking distance and some interesting walking trails. Recommend two nights since there's so much to do.
Nice marina, Steve was very helpful, great food at 105 Twenty!
We had a great multi-day stay at Half Moon Bay Marina this week. Steve’s regular communications prior to our arrival and throughout our stay was the best that we have experienced throughout or 2,600 nm journey thus far. The pdf welcome document that he provided was excellent and had tons of information on the area that helped us get the most out of our stay. The Marina is in a great location with most anything we needed within an easy walk including the Post Office, CVS, groceries and restaurants. (Happy Hour at the Piato Greek Kitchen was great). We also easily visited the USMA, in West Point and had a fabulous meal at CIA in Hyde Park. We will definitely return to Half Moon Bay during our next visit.
Great, friendly staff Steve goes above and beyond. However, the docks are not great. Storm (we had one) and wake swells flex the docks a lot. We were on a T head and were bounced quite a bit to the point that our fender hangers gouged our teak rub rails. Probably need to get different fender hangers. 😊
The staff were professional and courteous. They made us feel right at home. The crew at the marina helped with our docking, gave us pointers as well as a map of the town! Showers and restrooms were clean and easy to access. Great marina to doc at! I only wish we had time to stay longer
Half Moon Bay was a fantastic stop. Starts with Steve, he is very attentive to making sure you have everything you need and gives an excellent review if what is available at the marina and in town. We walked to town for a wonderful dinner at the Tavern. Lots of water and very easy in. Highly recommend !!
Mike and the dockhands met us and handled the lines well. Marina could use a little repair work. Mike was a great help in trying to help get our dog to an accredited vet for the new paperwork the US is implementing. That being said…. he is a great guy but needs to be a little more transparent when discussing fees and discounts. Bath facilities could use and update. No laundry. Wi-Fi not good. Great little town a walk away.
We spent 3 nights at Half Moon Bay and had a great stay. The harbor is well protected. We draft 5’ so we do recommend arriving and departing at at least +1’ as the bay in was 7-9’ at low tide. We took the train into the city, rented a car and visited the gorge and West Point. After touring all day it was great to return to the marina and our slip. I would recommend this as a stop on your way up the Hudson.
We weren’t planning on stopping at HMB, but we are so glad the did. We reached out to Steve and he was able to accommodate our late request. We were arriving early evening and he provided detailed navigational instructions and many recommendations for local attractions. The train station and enterprise car rental were both very easy walks. Great walking paths and dog friendly neighborhood. They also offer self serve pumpouts with your visit. Thank you Steve and team for making our visit welcoming and enjoyable! MV Shamrock
Great, protected marina with everything you need within close, easy walking distance. Deep Water and beautifully scenic bike/ dog walking paths along the Hudson on both sides of the marina! Short trips to many nearby historic landmarks. Marina sends the most impressive digital welcome package we've ever seen! The facilities are clean, and very well maintained. Free powerful Pump out and Wi-Fi. Don't miss a meal at Piato Greek Kitchen just up the road in the quaint town. Entire approach and marina is at least 3 to 4 feet deeper than the charts show - no shoals, or shallow areas. Looking forward to our return trip this fall. Thank you to Steve and his awesome staff!
This is a small marina but everyone is really nice and the facilities are great. There is a private gym, sauna, and shower/toilet facility which is well-stocked and clean. The slips are nice and there is a stockade between the docks and the river. It’s a great place to overnight. My one negative comment would be the Wi-Fi isn’t great. However, the cell reception was great for my hotspot.
Docks a little "tired" but Steve and Eric were there to welcome us and help us into the slip. Good location..able to walk to restaurants, grocery and shops. Showers and RR clean. Would stay again.
Nice marina with lots to do in the area. FYI, if you arrive after noon on Saturday the local Enterprise Car rental is closed until Monday morning. The facilities at the marina are nice and there is a big breakwater all which offers protection from passing wakes. Unless the wind whips up the Hudson, then there will be some rock and roll! There is also a beautiful paved walking trail along the Hudson and you can walk into town on part of it. Easy walk to some nice restaurants, a great little local market and the liquor store. We had a fabulous meal at Asagio Sushi. They are pricey but hey, it’s NY!
Very nice staff, but expensive for no laundry or pool and only 1 shower. Pump out worked well. Be careful having packages delivered, they are left outside.
Great staff and service! Just about anything you need is in town. Walk can be a bit challenging as its uphill. Uber'd to West Point for a tour. Rental car available a very short walk. Did a major provisioning at ShopRite and laundry at My 3 Suds. - John & Becky on Lucky Enough
Steve was great, it was a good stop for us...some things a little dated, the wifi was not working either, still would have no issue recommending a stop here.
They were great, fit us in and had an excellent Mechanic meet us to fix an issue we had. Steve is excellent. And JR Marine Services is top noch.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Half Moon Bay Marina! The facilities were top-notch, with impeccably clean and well maintained docks that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We also found the power to be perfect. The highlight of our visit was the exceptional service provided by the dock master, Steve. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and his friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. We highly recommend this marina to anyone looking for a perfect getaway on the water!
Spent a wonderful Memorial Day weekend here at Half Moon Bay. Such a beautiful spot to stop and take time for long walks on the trails that run along the river shoreline. Very well maintained docks, strong power, perfect wifi, and great restaurants nearby ( 1/4 mile easy walk) and compliments to the very friendly and accommodating dockmaster, Steve! He truly went above and beyond to assure our stay was enjoyable. We took the train to Poughkeepsie from here to visit the Culinary Institute of America - a can’t miss stop as well!! Thank you for everything Steve!
Dock assignment changed three times in 15 minutes. No water available. 50 amp box could not even support 30 amps. 4 Ft hinge rod connecting two floating docka had worked it’s way 3/4 of the way out and gouged side of my boat when docking. All docks filthy and covered in goose poop. I will never recommend this marina to anyone.
Overall, not a bad experience. Docks were not in good shape, and the pedestal power was inconsistent. Note, the power issue is not something I experienced, but our slip neighbors did. Dock master was very nice and accommodating.
Steve was great! Made sure every need was attended to. Received a nice memento as an AGLCA member. Keep up the good work!
We enjoyed our stay at Half Moon Bay. WE were there early in the season so it was not busy at all, so an easy in and out. The marina has well-maintained facilities. Steve, the dockmaster, was very helpful and informative about the marina and the surrounding area. The town is near by for shopping and browsing and it is an easy train ride into Manhattan for a day trip. There are many other local sights we did not have time to enjoy this trip
We've stayed as seasonal tenants at Half Moon Bay since 2004 and have always been treated like family. The marina is much more than a shangri-la. Steve, the manager and his superb, large, staff are absolutely phenomenal. The marina is impeccably maintained. They always have many independent service mechanics there on call, even on Sunday's, thankfully. Their wifi is stellar, clubhouse and restroom facilities are spotless, and the easy, plentiful, free car parking can't be beat. Nice to not have any yacht club, or dues or any on top "gotcha" fees as we have encountered at way too many other marinas. HMB is a serious cut above the rest. Highly recommended.
Half moon Bay Marina was amazing. We not only were met by Steve one of the nicest dock master but also very informative. Explained everthing in the area and how best to get there. The Marina itself was impeccable and we look forward to going back next season. Thank you from My Reality
Awesome, Steve is a friendly, informative dock master.
It was a pleasant stay. Steve was very personable and helpful. He greeted us with a list of local attractions. Would definitely go again.
It was a good location close to town. Steve was a very pleasant Dockmaster. The facilities as a little basic
Fantastic three days at Half Moon Bay Marina. Manager/Dockmaster Steve was very attentive to our needs and graciously offered discounts as weather kept us off the Hudson. Thanks Steve for all the great tips on places to see in lively Croton-on-the-Hudson, as well as throughput the mid-Hudson River Valley.
Excellent communication from the marina team as to availability, access and points of interest in the neighborhood.
Staff was over the top wonderful and considerate! Felt super comfortable reaching out if needed but honestly all information was provided :) We were meant to stay 1 night and stayed 3!
Great stay on the Hudson. Steve was very helpful and accomodating and sent detailed instructions (including pictures) about our slip location before we got to the marina so we were able to set up in advance. Nice floating docks, protected from most of the river wakes and waves by a large fixed attenuator wall. Closer to everything than any of the other options in the area (train station/tracks are close, but it's surprisingly quiet). The welcome packet was the most comprehensive and informative of any we've received and answered all of our questions before we could ask them. Free self-serve pumpout too. No laundry facilities but the laundry service in town picked up, washed, dried, folded, and delivered for a very reasonable price. A great stay, we'll definitely be back.
With Hurricane Lee brewing in the Atlantic, we were welcomed by the friendly dock master at Half Moon. Not only did he provide us a port in the storm, but he greeted us with helpful maps and a useful list of restaurants, trails, and other local amenities. It’s a very pretty marina - well worth a visit.
Most protected marina in the area for storms or hurricanes. Surrounded by land on three sides, and a superb sea wall/ wave attenuator. Very quiet, but within short walking distance of the Metro North trains (Croton Harmon Station) We found it very easy to obtain Uber or taxis at the marina. The only marina with enough depth 8.5' MLW in the area. Grocery stores, endless restaurants and other stores within easy walking distance. Their digital welcome packet and maps are the best we've seen in any marina in our 23 years of boating! Steve, the manager and his terrific staff ensured we had everything we needed.
Easy entry. Accomodating dockmaster who goes above and beyond. Nice facility and alot to do around town.
Steve and Sebastian were spectacular hosts and Croton-on-Hudson is a lovely spot! I'll be back on my next trip on the Hudson for sure. :-)
Steve, the Dockmaster was just incredible. He made a special effort to help us with Wi-Fi issues, came in early to help us depart because of strong wind. Marina location so convenient to great Greek restaurants and enterprise. Definite a 5+
The Marina was an excellent stop for us on our way to the Erie Canal. The facilities were clean and the staff was very pleasant. We had some problems with the internet service and it was corrected in a reasonable amount of time.
Steve was great and the most attentive Dockmaster we have met. He makes the stay quite enjoyable and is very knowledgeable on local eateries and tourist attractions.
Docks are in good shape. Steve did an excellent job of providing specific info on our slip, gave us a map of the area with places to go, etc. My only complaint is that the restroom facilities are a long way away. If course, that's not something that could br changed. But. It was so hot we didnt want to walk there, so i cant comment on the facilities.
The dockmaster, Steve, was extremely helpful in assuring we had a space to fit our needs and was able to accommodate a longer stay than we originally planned. He met us at the dock and let us know about all the conveniences and places to see nearby. We had great Italian food at Pronto in a casual atmosphere for reasonable prices within a short walk of the marina. We enjoyed visiting charming Croton-on-Hudson, especially the Good Shephard Chapel and the Croton Dam.
Overall we were pleased with Half Moon Bay. We were there for 10 days as we left our boat to go home for a few days. Steve the dock master is very good. Attentive, friendly, always willing to lend a hand. The docks are currently under repair and some are a bit rough, but that's being addressed. The seawall works pretty well except in very strong winds. We experienced 20 knot North Winds, that really rocked the docks. One note, the advertised 1/2 mile to town, is closer to a mile. However the new Apple Market is very good. Enterprise car rental was great, will pick you up, and gave us a great deal on a car. The only other comment is that even with staying 10 days, we didn't get a weekly rate, just the discounted AGLCA daily rate. (See Update below!) A good alternative to NYC rates, and does have good access. (Note that the train station is about 1.5 mile walk or a quick Uber ride. ) We would stay at Half Moon Bay again. UPDATE: The dockmaster reached out and adjusted the billing to a weekly rate, it was an oversight, and he was very gracious! I am changing the rating to 5 stars due to the excellent customer service! UPDATE: 7/5/2023 - Stayed at HMBM again this week for 3 days. Great stay overall. Same great service from Steve and Sebastian. This time we brought our friends on Indigo. Would suggest fixing the stairs to the office and bathrooms. Quite dangerous especially at night!
Half Moon Bay Lots of loopers go here. There is no sign for the marina, so we passed by it going toward another marina to the north. I'm assuming because there are condos overlooking the marina, they don't want a sign out? It was difficult. They have a self-pumpout on the north side of the marina. It wasn't working, but Sebastian did a wonderful job unclogging the problem. The slip was fine - floating docks. We did have some turbulence, which is surprising given the distance from the main Hudson channel. There are a lot of steps to climb and the ramp from the docks to the mainland is very steep, FYI. Steve is great in trying to accommodate you. Note there is no fuel and no pool. Bathroom is 2-3? stalls and 1 shower. Doesn't seem like enough for all these boats.
Excellent place to dock . Great service , good protection inside the marina . We came already the three times to stay the night at the marina
We had a great but too short of a stay at Half Moon Bay. The dock master Steve bent over backwards to find us a slip for the night. Sebastain did a wonderful job helping us tie up, hook up and watered. The info packet told us everything needed to know about the area, restaurants and shopping. Don't miss this great stop on the Hudson.
Super service ! Super accueil de Steeve !! Une map de la ville nous a été remise afin de bien planifier nos courses , nos restaurants, pharmacie etc. Très bien placé à côté de la gare très proche de New-York…
Best information email we have received in our 10 months on the Loop.
Excellent marina, Steve is a hands on Dockmaster and works very hard to provide the best possible experience at his marina. Love you Steve. Restroom facilities were very clean.
The place needs to catch up on maintenance. The bathrooms especially were lacking, appeared like they needed cleaning. No plunger accessible for a backed - up toilet. Steve tries hard however to make you feel welcome. Enterprise car rental is easy walk. Need wheels to get to the big Shop Rite grocery.
Fantastic stay. The Dockmaster is not only good at what he does, he very much cares about the people who stay. For example, I had a power problem and he went out of his way to secure the equipment I needed until I could secure my own. Beyond that, great food! Try Baked by Susan, A & S Deli (OMG!) and the Piato Greek venues.
From the very first contact, to our departure, Steve, Dockmaster, was very accommodating! Never minded all of my questions, no matter how busy he was! Marina was lovely. Views were magnificent! Considering how the Hudson can rock you, we were very well protected. Rented a car , short walk away, and saw many of the attractions in the area. Definitely go to Croton Dam! On top and in front! Amazing! West Point too! Thank you Steve for great memories!!!
Harbormaster Steve is one of the most attentive and helpful professionals we have met in our extensive cruising experience. Docks are in a bit of rough shape and marina receives quite a bit of wind and chop from the bay.
Great docks, outstanding customer service, great shower and bathroom with a sauna too! Very near the train station to access NYC. A short walk to a rental car and a good place to stage visiting the Culinary Institute, West Point and other area attractions. The staff will walk you through docking with concise directions and assist you in any way possible to make your stay pleasurable!
This is a beautiful marina. We rented a car from Enterprise, walking distance, and explored Croten Gorge Park (the dam is beautiful), toured West Point, had dinner and reprovisiobed at Shop Rite. The scenery is breathtaking. Steve is very helpful as was the dockhand. The free pump out worked fine.
From the moment I contacted HMB marina the service was superb. Steve contacted me at 9:30 at night to help with our reservation. He was dockside when we arrived and help heave our lines when we left. Great place to stay, tons to do in the area. Too bad more marinas aren’t run this way. Tom. Skipper- Bone Voyage.
Steve and Sebastian were fabulous in helping us dock and get settled. They were the only crew at a marina since we left key west to check on us multiple times. Great showers and washrooms. I had plenty of depth approaching the marina from mid channel with my 5’ draft
Great marina and staff! The town had great restaurants and little shops. Would love to visit again!
Steve and staff will try to accommodate your needs in every way.
Steve and Sébastien are great dockhands. Croton-On-Hudson is a great place to explore from. Definitely go to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery worth the vist.
Steve was fantastic, providing much information about restaurants and attractions around the area, including texts and email information. The docks and restrooms were very good.
our second time at this marina. Steve is a great manager. He’s always there waiting for you at your slip and has a great info packet to hand out.
Amazing service! The staff is skilled and very helpful. Will definitely stop by on my next trip on the Hudson. Well maintained and well worth the stop! 10/10 would recommend!
Steve is wonderful. Beautiful spot. All you need is a taxi ride away. Use Mommy’s Taxi for rides. less than Uber. And way quicker!
Beautiful marina with a really fun town that is a close walk. Quarter mile to most places. We especially loved the Tavern restaurant at Croton Landing as well as the Greek restaurant, Piato. The map and welcome packet the marina provided was amazing, both the paper and digital version. Marina is secure, and the restrooms and all facilities are spotless. Strong wifi and very dedicated staff.
Steve the marina manager was wonderful. He went out of his way to be helpful. He had information on places to eat and had a map ready with locations. The docks were very nice and the area was very clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again.
Great marina in a very sheltered cove with deep water and excellent wind protection. As a previous boater mentioned, the marina and the bay are much deeper than the charts show. Facilities are spotless, well maintained and the WiFi is strong. Half Moon is conveniently located near grocery stores, and many restaurants are within easy walks. Metro North trains are less than a mile walk and take you down to Grand Central or any of the historic rivertowns along the beautiful ride. We plan on being a seasonal boater in 2024 we liked it so much.
Perfect stay! Beautiful setting. Steve is, by far, the best dockmaster we’ve come across on our Great Loop adventure. He even called us to check in while we did some site seeing! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.
Long overdue note of thanks to Steve and the great staff at Half Moon Bay. As a seasonal boater of three years, I have to say that the peace of mind was everything. Steve is a true gentleman, honest to a T ( rare to find in the marina industry on these parts of the Hudson). The staff as well as Steve was always there for us - seemingly 24/7. A few independent mechanics there to do any boat service, usually same day. Pricing with mechanics and marina itself were terrific. The entire marina is monitored, well lit, gated, secure, quiet, with delivery of every type of food you'd desire. Or, many choices in town in an easy walk. Even the parking had a friendly guard on duty. We felt really safe, thanks again.
Finding dog friendly marinas was initially a challenge but then we discovered Half Moon Bay Marina. It's like heaven on water. Long wide, unsinkable dock system, make the experience better than I could have imagined. Each area is perfectly groomed with garbage containers that are conveniently located. The marina is really well maintained with terrific management. The historic and scenic (award winning ) trails that start from the marina are breathtaking and lead to three different parks. The docks are clean and are built to withstand the worst weather conditions. We ended up paying for the season and it was a great decision. Plenty of water depth, terrific wifi, and everything promised was delivered. Thank you to the staff and management of Half Moon Bay for a terrific year.
Can't say enough good things about Half Moon Bay. We've been seasonal renters since 2014. Such a warm atmosphere. Other boaters are always very friendly and helpful. Docks are never rickety, and the slips are very spacious. Plenty of free and very safe parking for our cars and guests to visit. Marina, parking lots, and facilities are all very well lit up at night. You can bring any guests to visit and be very proud of where you keep the boat. The staff and mgmt has the ultimate in integrity and the mechanics there daily are all very inexpensive and knowledgeable.
Breathtaking views! Very dog friendly, and nice beautiful pool. Wide and stable docks with full length finger piers. Water was deep all over the bay, as well as the approach. 3 to 4 feet deeper than the charts showed. Stellar welcome packet provided digitally. Staff and dockhands couldn't be more helpful.
Half Moon Bay Marina is in a resort setting, unlike any other marinas on the entire Hudson River. We've had our boat there seasonally for over 7 years, and when we first made the move to Half Moon Bay, we found it so refreshing to not be docked a working boatyard, where we were always being bothered by people doing maintenance on their boats. Or, having to look out for stepping into a nasty oil spill on the dock. You can be proud to take any dates or guests there and show off the place your boat is at. It really isn't expensive, despite having the most amazing atmosphere in which you can relax and unwind. People there are as friendly as can be, and management is simply awesome. Steve and his crew care about your boats and will always recommend top, independent mechanics. Highly recommended.
Very clean marina with beautiful views. Steve, the dockmaster, was so helpful and courteous. We will definitely come back again!
This is an awesome stop on the Hudson. FYI - The entire bay and the approach for the marina is at least 3 to 4 feet deeper at low tide than any of the charts show, even the Navionics charts. We rented powered bicycles from Pedego in town and had a great time exploring Croton Point Park and the Blue Mountain trails. The Croton Dam in town, is also a must see and is breathtaking. Great eats in town too. You can walk to most in under a half mile. Steve will email you a digital welcome package with every bit of info. It is the most thorough and well put together welcome package I've ever seen.
Steve the dockmaster was great - very helpful prior to arrival with depth along side info, approach, etc. Helpful on arrival getting us into the marina, gave us the best spot in the house. Very informative on what to do in Croton, what to see. We went to the Croton gorge dam on his recommendation - not to be missed. Marine in good condition, docks good and bumpered. We look forward to coming back.
Five Stars for Half Moon and for dockmaster Steve who does everything he can to make our stay easy and pleasant. We left our boat for 3 weeks while we visited Manhattan (quick & easy via Metro North Railroad), and were confident the boat was safe and the marina was keeping eyes our boat! Clean bathrooms, convenient shopping, good restaurants, what's not to like?
Steve lived up to his well earned reputation. Gave us a warm welcome, in a torrential downpour and was very helpful. Only thing is the distances to ‘nearby’ places of interest were more than understated.
Excellent Shelter - Our 5 night stay during Hurrican Ian was bliss. Water was as calm as glass as the winds were blocked by land. Steve was right when he assured us ahead of time that the marina is well protected by land on 3 sides and has an excellent attenuation sea wall. The email and paper packet provided by his staff was very helpful with many things to check out with many day trip destinations and natural features and hiking to check out. There is a nice Enterprise rental car outside their driveway. Bear Mountain and the Culinary Institute were our favorites. West Point military academy is very worthwhile as well. Check out the Greek restaurant Piato or for superb seafood, the Ocean House. Had to be 30 other good choices and most walkable. Looking forward to returning in the spring.
It was the first time my husband and I stayed at the Half Moon Bay Marina. The location is nice. Steve was very accommodating. We had a lovely dinner nearby. The bathroom and shower facilities are clean. My dogs loved the walkway. We will be back.
Depth is much deeper than the charts show. Water depths are at least 3 feet deeper than charts show for the approach as well as inside the marina. Around 9 to 10 feet at dead low tide. Very impressive and effective sea wall attenuates the wave action from this wide point of the Hudson. Land protects the marina on three sides as it is located in a protective large cove. The digital virtual welcome packets and links to all the local eateries was the most organized and well put together welcome email I've ever seen. Very fun town and lots to see and do. Great jumping off point to have anything and everything at your fingertips. The marina is accessible to anywhere, as well as being extremely safe. Management does a great job and cares about their clients. A rare thing in the marina world.
It was great to be in a deep water marina. We had great protection during a major wind storm. The entire approach to the marina and its surrounding area is three feet deeper than the charts show so you have no worries on any issues with depth. The sea wall is very effective. Staff was available to meet our needs at all hours. Absolutely gorgeous location and sunsets. We took advantage of the local hiking trails and discovered the amazing Croton Dam - a must see! Digital welcome packet emailed to us was a great resource with tons of information. Highly recommend this marina.
Getting right to the point - Half Moon Bay Marina is a wonderful stop along the Majestic Hudson River. The protective wall cuts the current and wakes. Floating docks make it easy to get on and off the boat. Scores of restaurants nearby (I recommend Ocean House Oyster Bar and Grill). Put it on you itinerary!
Lovely spot. Docks are older but well maintained. Good power and water. Steve, the dockmaster will do everything he can to help. Rained all day this visit but if you get a chance don't miss Croton dam and falls! Easy visit and we'll worth it, even if your stay is a short one.
Great place to stay. Well protected from the river, clean facilities, helpful staff. Looking forward to returning.
Well run place. Very big wooden breakwater so boats are protected against the wakes on the hudson (can be large). There is a small pedestrian tunnel underneath the tracks north of the marina which makes it easy to get to stores and restaurants. Not sure it shows up in the Google maps. Steve was super attentive and had a great communication. Will return
Steve was very helpful getting onto the dock. Floating docks and very protected marina. Wifi was slow but ok. They are battling the geese the best they can. We would definitely come back - enjoyed our night there.
Very accommodating staff! Thank you Steve and Sebastian
Awesome marina and service. Steve and his staff could not be nicer! Floating docks with well maintained pedestals. Most amenities within walking distance. Most other marinas could take a lesson or two from this one on customer service.
We stayed 2 nights at Halfmoon Bay Marina with one night in Hyde Park in between. HMB Marina is in an excellent location with lots of destinations for easy and convenient walking, and also biking. We had excellent dinners at the Ocean House, and Piato. The facilities were very nice. The dockmaster Steve P. had a lot of helpful information and advice (thank you!). We will be back on our next journey!
Great, deep water marina. Management was correct -The approach is 3 feet deeper than the charts show, so we were always in 9 to 10 feet of water. Ocean House Seafood restaurant was amazing as was the Greek restaurant, Piato. Marina is nestled inside a protected cove that is 3 miles from the main boat traffic lane, making for a calm stay. Sea wall is quite substantial as well. We rented powered bicycles at Pedego and toured the awesome bike paths all over the shoreline and the many parks that stem off from the marina riverwalks. Will definitely return.
Very shallow unmarked approach to the marina. Once on the dock, good facility and helpful staff. Exposed to south winds.
Very nice one-night stay. Dockmaster is excellent.
Wonderful stay! The view is breathtaking and Steve was more than accommodating upon our arrival. We would definitely stop here again.
Steve has done a great job with website, all info you could possibly need. Half mile walk from town. Grocery delivery to marina. Had fun catching catfish from dock.
Lovely town with a stellar seafood restaurant, Ocean House, and a terrific Greek restaurant Piato. Steve's digital welcome packet email contained so many ideas of things to do and see here that we extended our stay to an extra week. Don't miss out on visiting the world famous Croton Dam and waterfalls there. We easily biked the 2 miles to it, but our friends found it easy to catch a $6. taxi there. Facilities and view cannot be beat. Will definitely return next summer for sure!
The marina location makes it the safest place to be during a storm if you're on the Hudson River. Most people do not realize that Half Moon Bay's docks are lined with heavy duty steel and are swept and meticulously maintained daily by the numerous dockhands. I've been in squall and prolonged foul weather in other marinas, and these docks are strong and protected from wave activity. Half Moon Bay is the real deal. The wifi, the pumpout...everything, works very well - as it should in a high end marina like this. The restroom facilities are always very clean and have perfect hot water and pressure unlike most I've visited elsewhere. The walk to them is very close. The adjacent, Enterprise car rental agency gave us full day car rentals for only 46 dollars a day and the Metro North Train station next door makes going down to NYC so convenient and fast, or you can visit many places north (Culinary Institute) or other points south like the direct train stop at Yankee Stadium. We took a metro north train directly to the Yankee Stadium stop. Friends took the Metro North south to visit Sleep Hollow Cemetary and the Rockefeller Estates. ...You really don't need a rental car as you can walk to most places from here. Cabs, Ubers or Lyft are very easy to catch from here! This marina also has very deep water, not only all over the approach, but inside the marina as well. Would recommend Half Moon Bay all the way!
We have been traveling for almost a year to different marinas every 2-3 days. Half Moon is way overpriced for the facility and location. We should of anchored out instead. Harbor master said that he applied the looper discount. If that is so, it is even more overpriced.
Great launch off place and easy walk to several restaurants or to catch a train to travel either a little further north or south all the way into NYC. The marina is pretty easy access with wide channels and a seawall that does pretty well to keep the wakes from boat traffic in check. The bay is a short dinghy ride over to play in shallow water for a hot day. Dockmaster Steve is an absolute hoot! Will definitely return on our next trip through.
We were fortunate enough to get a slip here over the weekend, and the marina far exceeded our expectations. We needed provisions badly, and there are two really great and very inexpensive grocery stores here. The Apple Farm supermarket is very similar to a Whole Foods, only a third of the prices. We took the Metro North train for 8 dollars down to NYC to see the sights and the ride along the Hudson was magnificent. We also visited the very interesting Sleep Hollow cemetery from the train. Next day we visited the Culinary Institute up in Hyde Park by taking that metro north train up north to the Poughkeepsie station. 2 mile uber from there. CIA is really worth visiting! Steve's Asst Doug provided us with an amazing digital welcome package full of great restaurants to walk to. The Piato Greek restaurant is not to be missed. Easy quarter mile stroll from the boats to there or endless other eateries and ice cream shops... We can't wait to return in late October. Thanks for a great stay guys!
Docks are shaky, you must Uber to see sites, no towns or shops near by and over advertised as a great stop🥵.
Great man-made harbor, great staff, great information packet
Wonderful marina, Steve and his crew were very friendly and helpful definitely would recommend this place.
Great docks and slips, power, etc. but facilities were lacking. One shower, one toilet. No washers and dryers. Pump out was broken. No facilities close by. Safe and secure but over-rated.
Great marina with nice facilities, great location - 40 minutes train ride to Manhattan, close by town with everything you need. Exceptional Dock-master and staff who couldn't do enough to please.
Staff was great. Area was beautiful. Bathrooms clean but only 1 shower, 1 toilet, and marina was full.
Super friendly and helpful dockmaster Steve and staff made visit extra special. Train station and car rental nearby makes it convenient place to connect with people. Short walk to town has multiple options for food and beverage. Clean, well run facility. Will come back.
Steve was there to catch our lines! Loved the google doc with all kinds of info sent to us when we were settled in. The long dock is pretty solid but the "t" we were on was wobbly. WIFI was Great! Croton Dam is a must see. Close to a Shoprite store and many restaurants! Train station is close by if you want to go into NYC. Trains are every 30 minutes about $10. Excellent walking trails. AMAZING SUNSETS over the Hudson! Was a perfect stopping spot for us as we head to the Erie Canal. THANK-YOU Steve!!! M/V Sunshine State of Mind
Great marina and staff. Great floating docks and protected. Location is really good, close to train, rental car and restaurants. Will definitely stay again.
Wonderful Marina and staff that are incredibly responsive. Great location with hiking trails, beautiful views and food / shops nearby. Highly recommend!
We love Half moon Bay! Very protected from a major wind storm. Docks are extremely stable and we saw many new ones that were just built. Very fast wifi speed, and friendliest staff with incredible customer service. Outstanding Shop Rite supermarket is a close by walk and has absolutely anything and everything you could want in the way of food. Great wine and liquor stores a block from the marina, and the Croton Harmon Train station is less than a mile away - terrific for taking express trains into Grand Central as the trains leave every 25 mins Lovely and inexpensive restaurants abound all over the town which is a block or two walk from the marina. We rented inexpensive bikes from the Pedego bike shop in town and toured the awesome Croton Dam. The waterfalls and whole area there are not to be missed. Many gorgeous bike trails along the hudson start from the marina and stem into Croton point park and beyond. Highly recommend Half Moon Bay.
I am not a disgruntled customer. Just a disappointed one. This in NOT a premier stop. The highlight of this stop was the weather. I struggle to see how there are so many high reviews. Good news: floating dock behind a partial breakwater. Bad news: No fuel, aging docks, overworked and/or disorganized staff…. Even with reservations made weeks ago, I was still moved to 3 different slips in the first 24 hours I was here. Pool is not available to boaters, Wi-Fi signal is only hit or miss. Shower and bathroom facilities are pretty far away and fairly small in substance. Guys, if this is what you advertise then I can make an informed decision. But you (and your reviewers) overstate and underdeliver. I think I may anchor out next time through here…unless forced by weather.
Upon arrival the dock staff rendered excellent assistance. You receive an email with passcodes, local restaurant info, codes for bathroom locks, etc. Very organized. We walked to the train station and took the train to NEW YORK city. We look forward to our next visit.
Been to this marina while cruising the Great American Loop a couple of different times. From our perspective Steve and the crew here work very hard to make everything perfect for their customers. The area has a lot to see and the marina is close to everything. We do not hesitate booking time here with this exceptional marina and staff!
Great marina! Steve and the crew at Half Moon Bay Marina go above and beyond the call. The location is great! Close to the train station if you want to head south to the City. A lovely, small grocery and post office are in walking distance. There is a lovely bike/walking trail right next to the marina. It’s a wonderful place.
Dockmaster Steve could not have been more accommodating and attentive; he seems to go the extra mile for all. We connected to Wi-Fi, met many other Loopers (always the best bunch!), went for a walk on a trail along the Hudson, great experience! Thanks Steve!
Great location - we really enjoyed the easy walk to town and the trails to various parks. The facilities are nice - good restrooms. There is no laundry service on site, but there is a laundromat about a mile away and a laundry service that can pick up laundry. Restaurants in the area are great! Don't miss the Greek restaurant or Black Cow Coffee!
Great staff and charming marina. Both Steve and Doug were super welcoming and friendly to work with - they really made an effort to make sure we had everything we needed. The area itself is at a nice setting with a beautiful view overlooking the Rockland County part of Hudson with amazing sunsets. Recommend this place to other sailors.
Expensive for what you get. Pump out wasn’t working, Wi-Fi was overtaxed, pool not available to marina guests, only 1 shower in a restroom full of condo residents using the pool, Enterprise car rental is closed on weekends. Steve works hard and AGLCA sponsorship is appreciated.
Had a great stay at Half Moon Bay. Steve and Doug were very helpful, and there any time we needed them.the Greek restaurant was awesome and not that bad of a walk.Only wish there was a captains lounge and on site laundry. We would highly recommend this place
I can’t recommend this facility. I hope Active Captain will look into the repetitious hyperbolic ‘reviews’ that read like they originated from the same person. Details follow: In about 1400 miles of cruising this is the most expensive marina we stayed at. They under-deliver and overstate the quality of the facility and amenities. There is no pool access even though Dockwa shows a beautiful pool. DEPTH ON APPROACH: Our depth finder showed 5.1 ft on approach and departure. DOCK HANDS: There were no dock hands during our 4pm arrival and Steve was not onsite. I stayed in close touch with him about our arrival time as he requested. We were given a slip assignment that would have been extremely difficult without dockside assistance. Steve immediately provided a new slip assignment when I reiterated that we are single screw no thruster and had requested an easy in, easy out during reservation. Steve off-loaded responsibility for the lack of docking assistance by saying he had asked some ‘people on the dock’ to help us out, but ‘somehow they didn’t see us’. The only other people we saw on the dock at our arrival were at one of the Ts we passed, and they saw us come in. We are now on Day 2 and have yet to see a dockhand. MANAGEMENT: Seems harried, disorganized, and understaffed. Steve was apologetic to an uncomfortable extreme that started to feel disinenguous almost immediately. Steve is easily reached via text and voice and quickly responds. SECURITY: Secure gate was left open, via bungee cord, during our two night stay. WIFI: Wifi did not work despite assurances by Steve that it was an aberration that day. He suggested that we were docked too far away and could be relocated (we were exhausted after 3 very long days and had already done all the things you need to do to dock, and declined). We were given a 2nd password to try, and were told to try the unlocked wifi at the neighboring condo complex. I spent a good chunk of my work time trying all of the almost 10 access points with two different passwords. I was offered a spot in the office or the office steps - can’t remember which - my work equipment and files are not easily portable and I require privacy, so I declined. The next day, we were offered a promise that it had been fixed. It still didn’t work. If you read the other reviews Wi-Fi has been an issue here since 2016. CELL SIGNALS: We had AT&T and Verizon two bars. DOCKS: The majority of boards are past needing replacement and some are actually a hazard with popped screws and nails and splintering, the docks are wobbly in places, there are large piles of goose poop that look to have been there for a while. I would say docks are in a declining state, it appears that minimum maintenance is being done. SHOWERS: good water pressure and temperature, clean. VICINITY: Very nice paved paths. Nothing exceptional about the view, it is much like the other pretty views up and down the Hudson. PUMPOUT DISASTER: We had confirmed with Steve before we went to the pumpout that it was functional. Steve said yes. When we went, the poor guy in the Bayliner ahead of us was power washing down his deck and shouting. The pump out had spewed/shot/erupted and there was a huge amount of waste all over HIM, his decks including the flybridge, as well as all over the dock and in the water. He was furious and rightly so. Steve was on the dock and busy texting me instead of helping with cleanup. He apologized and offered a discount for our stay. He also texted “Darn micro blast of wind did way more damage to our ethernet cables and now apparently pumpout lines than i orig thought.” RENTAL CAR DISCOUNT: The corporate code that we were given offers a 5% discount off the internet rate. There is a popular Anchorage for cruisers very close to the nice park on the peninsula, wish we had stayed there.
The pump out Broke and got stuff all over me and the boat. But everything thing else was very good so felt like the 1star was a little uncalled for.
Steve is excellent. Facility is starting to show age
It was great mostly because of the wonderful dock master. Steve went above and beyond talking care of us.
Second time stopping at Half Moon Bay. Steve is one of the most accommodating Harbormasters anywhere.
Great marina in a beautiful little bay. Steve was super responsive and easy to work with when we called to see if he had space. We gave him a heads up on channel 9 when we were getting close and then he met us at the slip and helped with our lines. Once there he gave us a welcome packet, pointed out some favorite resturants, and stayed in touch over the couple of days that we were there to see if we needed anything. Docks, electrical and water are all in good shape. Our dog was welcome and the permanent slip holders were super friendly. We’ll be back.
Half Moon Bay Marina is a hidden gem on the Hudson River. Hands down the only marina with deep water, and a management team that you can trust implicitly. Steve, the manager, is such a cut above the rest of any marina managers we've ever met, and really goes the extra mile for you on every level. The surrounding town is terrific with the best in convenience when it comes to great and inexpensive restaurants of all types and varieties, and there are endless ones well within an easy, short walk. We enjoyed our two week stay here so much this summer that we decided to purchase one of the docks to use as well as rent out while we are out cruising the sound. Highly recommended.
I have had the pleasure to own a boat slip here since 2011 and have loved every minute of it. With the ever increasing demand on slips this year, due to four large, local marinas closing, we decided to purchase another slip to solely use as a rental property. The ROI has been outstanding. Half Moon Bay is the nicest marina on the Hudson, with deep water, wide full length finger slips and a very quiet, family atmosphere. The marina, which is situated inside a large horseshoe shaped cove, is well protected by an incredibly effective attenuation sea wall, making it the ultimate safe harbor from hurricanes. Nights are always calm and peaceful. Have to also add that there are extraordinary and inexpensive divers and mechanics here at least 6 days a week. We can't thank Steve and his dedicated staff enough!
Half Moon Bay Marina has been the best marina we have stayed at in our 20 years of boating. We originally planned on staying for the month of May, and ended up staying for the entire season. The marina is like being at a first class resort without any pretentiousness, and no yacht club presence. Cost is a bargain as well. My expectations were high when we first arrived at Half Moon due to several past guests of the marina raving about all there is to do in the local area, the restaurants there, and the overall relaxing and laid back vibe. Steve and his knowledgeable staff have far exceeded any expectation. With more than 28 years of experience in marina management, Steve makes sure his staff always stays a major cut above the rest. Thank you and highly recommend you visit Half Moon Bay!
Steve was wonderful helping us. Nice protected marina close to town. Will be back !
We ended up staying 11 nights here after only thinking of we'd stay one or two tops. Only two miles from the marina is the breathtaking Croton Dam and Croton Dam Park is absolutely surreal. This is a must do/ see. Picnic in the that park and walk the trails or visit one of the three beautiful parks that surround the marina. There are fabulous yet very inexpensive restaurants all around the marina that are easily within walking distance. Quarter mile to half mile flat walk. We also visited the very cool and impressive Blaze Jack O Lantern Festival ( Get ticket on StubHub) Also, this a great marina to use a centralized location to do day trips south towards Manhattan or going up past Bear Mountain Bridge area and West Point and head up to the historic Bannermans island and Castle ruins near Newburgh. All of these are gorgeous sites. Highly recommend Half Moon Bay Marina. Wish we give Steve and his highly trained staff 6 stars. Staff was always available to help tie our lines. Thank you!
Excellence is the first word that comes to mind. We have had our 38 foot boat at Half Moon Bay for 11 years and we have just purchased our dock slip. Steve who is the managing partner here, is the most trustworthy, knowledgeable, and upbeat gentleman in the marina business we have ever encountered. The entire vibe at the marina is amazing and the views and beauty of the Hudson Valley from the marina is simply outstanding. A very short easy walk to the Ocean House for world class seafood or steak or food at the Tavern on Croton Landing there is not to be missed.
This marina is a darling find...quaint, peaceful, within walking distance to delicious restaurants and Croton Park. Dockmaster Steve makes you feel like a welcomed house-guest and is an enthusiastic ambassador for the area. He is proud of his marina and can't do enough for you. This will not be the fanciest marina you will ever stay at, but absolutely the friendliest and memorable. Looking forward to many happy returns here.
Every marina deserves a Steve! From our first correspondence on Dockwa until our departure, Steve was so welcoming and attentive. We will definitely be back soon.
Great accessibility to Manhattan with such an easy walk to the Croton Harmon , Metro North station. Half Moon Bay is in a wonderful town and provides a sheltered harbor with outstanding views. Walk from your boat to the Ocean House for seafood or many more restaurants all within a very short walk.
Best centralized location to go anywhere. Was so easy to take the Metro North train to Manhattan for sightseeing as well as take it north to visit the Culinary Institute as well as some great local sights. Very nice mechanic on staff - Junior, who is extremely skilled and has very fair pricing. We've never experienced this high level of customer service in our 26 years of boating. Kudos to Steve and his wonderful and attentive staff. Steve provided us with a stellar information packet containing 35 restaurants to walk to as well as great excursion sights such as the Croton Dam and Gorge. Highly recommend lingering and taking in the sights at Half Moon Bay!
Half Moon Bay is a cut above all the rest of the Hudson River marinas. We took advantage of the Westchester County Airport (20 mins away) and left our boat for 2 weeks to fly home. Steve and his staff have top notch customer service and took such good care of us and let us know how well watched over our boat was. We also were able to take the Metro North train (easy 1 mile walk) to visit NYC. Will return next trip on the Hudson for sure.
Steve was a pleasure while we kept our boat at Half Moon Bay as we had to travel back home. Would stay there again!!!
2021 This was my fourth stop at Half Moon Bay. Everything from my previous reviews still holds. One addition this trip was that we needed to pump out. The pump out is at a separate dock outside the marina’s wave tempering wall. It is also very close to shallow water, which is a concern in a big boat coming or leaving in a strong wind. All went well with my experience this year, but the pump out location can be challenging. As always, the marina manager was helpful both in communicating before my arrival and in handling lines as we docked. Good service is his priority. Half Moon Bay will always be my choice when transiting the Hudson. 2018 This is the third time I’ve stayed at Half Moon Bay and I’m sure I’ll be back on my next trip on the Hudson. The head and showers are always clean and in good condition. For the most part, the piers are in good shape as well. On both of the last two times I’ve visited, the manager and I conversed before hand to discuss which slip we’d tie up in and to ensure there was assistance available when docking. One real benefit of this marina is the proximity to a good grocery store as well as the MetroNorth station for trips into New York City. Plus - there’s ice cream within walking distance. As I said, I’ll be back.
This is a nice marina in a beautiful bay. Steve went out of his way to be helpful to us and make sure we had a great time.
Steve, the harbor master is very responsive and helpful. Clean bathrooms. Short walk to nice grocery store, CVS, restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.
Steve was very helpful and friendly. Good facilities.
We spent two nights at Half Moon Bay. Dockmaster Steve was very accommodating and helpful. We had guests visiting and he was there to answer all our questions and help us on and off the dock. We will surely stop back by on our way south. Croton is a lovely town with some good restaurants and things to do. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Steve and his team are fantastic. First off, TRUST Steve when he tells you that the charts are wrong and there is plenty of depth. I was skeptical about this but his local knowledge was spot on and we had no issues. Additionally, Steve’s communication was prompt, informative and useful. His team met us on the dock to assist and the facility is in good shape. Great area for dog walking and Steve’s recommendation to visit the Croton Dam was awesome. You can’t miss the dam!
Short quarter mile walk to restaurants and and beautiful walkways to the swimming beach adjacent to the marina. Best time we've had at any marina in our 9 years of boating. Water approach and marinas depth is deep. Great sea wall protection. You won't find a better background view at any other marina in NY, not even in Fire Island. Check out the Ocean House for seafood and the Piato Greek restaurant. Marina provides you with a digital welcome packet that contains great maps and lots of info. Don't miss the Croton Dam and it's waterfalls next door.
Enjoyed very much. Wish there was a courtesy car, somewhat inconvenient to have to always call Uber or a taxi.
Steve and his crew were terrific. Helpful, friendly, organized and very communicative. It did get very windy in the afternoon so we bumped around a lot but it calmed down in the night and was very peaceful after that. Good meal at a tavern about a miles walk away.
Great Marina on the Hudson in Croton, NY. Upon arrival we were met by the dockmaster Steve Plotkin who guided us in and tied us up. Ice was delivered and a welcoming email was sent to us with all the area info (transportation, dining etc.) Steve went above and beyond. Thank you Vinny & Ann Marie
It was awesome. Dockmaster Steve was so incredibly helpful. Wish we could have stayed a few days, very pretty place. We will be back
Great spot. The dock master Steve and his staff were very helpful and personable. A short trip up to Croton Dam built circa 1890 to supply water ti NYC should not be missed. We will be back
Marina is not only in a beautiful area but it is extremely well kept. Steve is the best dockmaster I have come across. Incredibly helpful and just an all around good guy.
Wonderful stopover on the way north. We enjoyed our stay and felt very welcome. Nice docks and great dockhands. Short walk into town for provisions and great restaurants. Shower/bathroom in great shape. Overall nice stay and would certainly stop again. Thanks Steve and all the dock hands.
Outstanding experience. Steve was great and provided information on the marina as well as things to do in the area. A very tranquil setting and enjoyed our time at half moon bay
Such a beautiful spot to stop and take time for long walks on the trail that runs along the water’s edge, great restaurants nearby (.7 miles) and compliments to the very friendly and accommodating dockmaster, Steve! He truly went above and beyond to assure our stay was enjoyable. We took the train to Poughkeepsie from here to visit the Culinary Institute of America - a can’t miss stop as well!! Thank you for everything Steve!
Dockmaster Steve was very helpful. Came back to us several times to feed us more info and answer questions about the surrounding area and things to do. Marina access by boat was easy and the slip was wide. Bathrooms were clean.
Dockmaster Steve and Asst. Dockmaster Aly are terrific hosts. Top notch!!
Steve was an absolutely delight. Met us at the slip to help get tied up. Close enough to was to store and shop for a bit. 5 star all the way
We stayed at the marina for a day and had a Great Time! The Dockmaster, Steve was excellent, very friendly and helpful. We toured the town visited the Dam, took a train ride and ate some excellent food. Highly recommend stopping.
We stayed at Half Moon Bay for 10 days in May on our Great Loop trip. Dockmaster Steve is a legend of hospitality and he did everything he could possibly do to make our stay comfortable. The folks who keep their boats there all season were also very friendly and helpful. We spent three days in New York City. The train ride into the city was efficient and beautiful, re-tracing our route up the Hudson along the shore. We stayed in a hotel in the city and explored until late on the third day when we caught a late train back. We then rented a car and visited West Point and hiked up to the top of Bear Mountain. From the top of Bear Mountain (also accessible by car) you can see NYC on a clear day. There are also numerous stores and restaurants a short walk away in Croton. Apple Barn looks like a small store from the outside but they had most of the provisions we needed. This stop and Steve’s hospitality were highlights of our Great Loop adventure.
Wonderful marina! The harbor manager is extremely helpful.
Great stay!! Steve is Great!! Will stop by again when in the area.
This views from this marina are breathtaking! The harbor master Steve is very helpful and a wealth of information for things to eat, see and do in the area. An overall great customer service experience! I would highly recommend this place to anyone that needs a place to dock.
Very accommodating and friendly. We love staying at half moon.
Great stop over for going north to Rondout or south to Statue of Liberty. Best to ride the ride and current if possible. Steve does a great job assisting docking and taking care of things.
Half Moon Bay is a Great marina on the Hudson. Stayed 19 days and Steve is an awesome dock master. Anything we needed, he was always very helpful. Beautiful views from the boat and places to walk around very safely.
We loved Half Moon Bay! Croton Beach and it's clear waters exceeded our expectations as did the marina. The marina staff of Steve, Sebastion, and Ally are terrific. Everything in town is an easy, quarter to half mile walk ( flat roads) from the marina and the amount of great restaurants were part of the reason we extended our stay an extra three nights. Took the Metro North train from the marina, north for 40 mins to the Poughkeepsie station and took a 3 mile Uber to the Culinary Institute for a delicious dinner, and loved the stellar campus. Don't miss the Piatro Greek restaurant or the Ocean House seafood restaurant next door to the marina.
Marina is a great stop made more difficult by rental car scarcity. If you are good taking the train, you have a lot of mobility here to go to NYC or other places.
Good docks. Good help docking. Nice place to stay. I’d stay again.
Nice calm setting in a condominium community. Dockmaster Steve is beyond helpful and accommodating. The marina is a little short on amenities…. No laundry, no fuel, no easy access to restaurants, laundromats & groceries without a hike although Steve offers assistance in all those instances. Don’t be fooled by the pictures showing a pool. It is not owned by the marina & you will not be swimming in it!
Steve works very hard to make everyone feel welcome. He has great local tips. The marina is in a great location next to a popular beach. Easy walk to Croton on Hudson.
Enjoyed our visit at Half Moon Bay Marina. The marina is located near quite a few amenities. CVS, Chelsea Nail Salon, Liquor Store, Tobacco Store, Apples Grocery, USPS just to name a few. There is an Enterprise car rental a very short walking distance from the marina, Edward was great to work with. He picked us up and took us back to the marina. There are many sights to see in this area of the Hudson River so plan on staying a few days to soak it all in. Steve Captain M/Y Double Down
Clean, secure place and a great location for visiting NYC, just a twenty minute walk to the train station through a park. Easy stop on our way up the Hudson and plenty of water getting in. Nice town with great restaurants. Steve was very accommodating and helped us out in any way he could.
We reserved at the last minute and Steve was very accommodating of our slip requests. Marina is in nice condition and the area was lovely. Better access to town would merit an extra star.
Good docks no issues with power or water. Bathrooms and shower were adequite. If there were laundry or loaner car would be 5 stars. Steve the dock master was awesome.
May 28,2021 What a great place to wait out bad weather. After a hard trip up the NJ coast and an early morning departure from Sandy Hook anchorage, it’s wonderful to have a welcoming greeting from Steve the Dockmaster at Half Moon Bay Marina. It’s like coming home. The facilities are clean, the conveniences- restaurants, etc are nearby and plentiful, and the Marina is well protected. I don’t think you can find a better place on the Hudson. Holly and Glenn Osprey ‘79 Mainship Mk 1
We had a wonderful stay at Half Moon Bay Marina. Steve the dock master was so helpful and made us feel welcome. The docks and facilities were so clean and it was good to stay there again. Ranger Tug 25’ C.A.L.M.
Steve was very accommodating on getting us a slip on short notice. Extremely friendly and outgoing. Provided great information about the area. Beautiful scenic views. 👍Awesome experience. Will return for sure.
Steve (dockmaster) was great, very helpful, lots of suggestions on where to go, what to do. Nice area, easy bike ride to store, train station etc.
Great experience and great location. Dockmaster Steve was a pleasure. From helping with the landing to giving great info for places to get good food a short walk away we could not have asked for more. This is a great place to spend the night or the season. Looking forward to spending more time here. Eric
Amazing location - adorable little town and some great restaurants nearby. Check out Flame, Tavern at Croton and TapHouse at Croton. The dam / waterfall is worth a visit as it’s a nice hike and very scenic. Amenities at the marina were on point. We had a great stay.
Great marina. Well protected, comfortable floating docks. Restrooms clean & in good repair. Nice facilities - pool, sauna, exercise room (closed due to covid & change of season). Walked to town (about 15 minutes). Found Duncan Doughnuts (good coffee) and some nice restaurants. Steve, dock master was amazing. We called for transient dock reservation about half hour out while coming down Hudson. He texted marina map with our slip highlighted in yellow, photos of our dock & surrounding landmarks. We would definitely stay again.
Had a lovely two night stay at half Moon Bay Marina. Slips, docs, and facilities are well-maintained. Steve was very welcoming and responsive. He immediately provided his cell phone if we needed any additional information and helped with local knowledge. He Even recommended an excellent Greek restaurant within walking distance. Many dining options within walking distance of Marina which is a big bonus. Keep up the good work Steve.
Helpful and friendly staff, beautiful surroundings on the Hudson River. We visited to see the Jack O'Lantern Blaze in Croton on Hudson - highly recommended if you're here around Halloween.
Great marina. Steve and team there are extremely helpful and really went out of their way to accommodate our 3 boat group.
Great location!!! Easy trip from NYC. Convenient to transportation, provisions, and many of Hudson Valleys’ treasures (Bear Mt, Sleepy Hollow, numerous parks. We stayed a week to soak it all in. Marina is well protected from wakes, safe, and quiet. Steve and Margaret were welcoming and quite helpful. We’ll be back
Stayed for 3 nights and loved the Marina and location. Steve was the best and looking forward to visiting again.
Stayed here for a week in September 2020. Great place to stop when traveling the Hudson River. Easy access to rental car, groceries and restaurants. Train station is 1.5 miles. Pretty walk or you can call local taxi for around $7 one way. Steve was so helpful and accommodating. He checked in regularly with us. We needed a part delivered for the boat that he accepted for us. Highly recommend staying here.
We loved this marina so much we decided to stay twice in 1 trip. Steve was helpful and welcoming as was his assistant upon our 2nd night. The marina is quiet and protected . There is a lovely waterfront path for a little exercise . We ate at a Greek place and an Italian place walking distance from the marina. I have no hesitation recommending this marina
This is a great place. The services and amenities are first-rate, they really treated me well here.
Great harbor master who was very helpful, extremely friendly and went out of his way to make sure we knew the area. Located next to great restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, rental car and train station. Super location!
Steve is fantastic, and he works very hard to ensure that you receive excellent service. Professional and conscientious, he goes the extra mile to make your stay perfect. (He even offered to drive us to see the Croton Dam!) Good stores nearby for provisioning, and a number of restaurants. We really liked Piato Greek Kitchen- service and food were great. This will definitely be our stopover point on the Hudson in the future.
Great stop on our way South aboard our 34 foot sailboat. Steve the manager went above and beyond to help us with arrival and during our stay. We were assigned an easy access slip. This modern facility is well kept and well positioned for visiting the village nearby. We will stop in again.
Nice clean facility, Steve couldn’t do enough to try and please us. Had a great time. We will be back
Steve is the best Great views All is convenient Perfect stopover up the hudson
To be honest, this was one of the best marinas we have been to. It’s very quiet and scenic. We went biking to Croton Point Park and barbecued off the deck of our boat at night. Also, we took a scenic boat ride up the Hudson River past West Point Academy, etc. It was great!! Steve, the dock master, was so very helpful too. He was always available for any questions we had. It’s our first time from Long Island up this far, and we will definitely be coming again!!
absolutely AWESOME!!! Highly recommend this Marina, whether it’s a first/last stop, or a week(end) long stay while on the Hudson. Marina is well maintained and includes all the amenities you could want with wifi and an amazing dog walking trail right along the river. The marina staff and Steve are simply the best, and go beyond out of their way to ensure everything you could need was attended to, and more. In short we were making plans to come back before we left the slip. HIGHLY recommend this marina to anyone (sail or power) looking for a great place to stay! Steve, we can’t say enough good things about Half Moon Bay!!
Whether you are purchasing a dockominium for your forever boat home, spending the season, or just coming in for a few days. Half Moon Bay Marina is the place to be in the Hudson. Great location, great docks, amazing staff. My new boat home 👍🏼
This marinas is beautiful for just sitting on your boat while you watch the sunset. Steve who over sees the marinas is truly a remarkable person, always available nd ready to help at any time. During the storm Steve made sure all boats were tightly roped up. This boat master truly knows his craft.
We enjoyed our stay @ Half Moon Bay recently. Steve the Harbor Master was there to catch our lines when we arrived. Steve attentiveness was above and beyond what you see @ most marinas! Steve was able to help us secure a rental car during our stay. The pumpout was handy. Power & water were great. The Marina was situated in a beautiful spot on the Hudson. Very convenient to parks, shopping & restaurants. Our visit coincided with tropical storm Isaias. Another reviewer wrote there were waves inside the marina...this is not true! We understand that reviewer has been asked to leave several marinas In the area and he was VERY rude to me personally. We fared just fine with Steve checking in on us from time to time through out the storm. Love this marina and will definitely return!
Beautiful marina, good location and very friendly and welcoming dock master
Saved our boat during Hurricane Isaias. Great marina with very Deep water (9 feet at Low Tide), with superb floating docks and amazing sea wall protection. We stayed for a week to shelter from Hurricane Isaias and it was the best decision. The marina never lost power the entire time and the water within the marina remained calm. Steve, the dock master provides excellent service for dock tenants, and visiting yachtsmen. The docks are extremely well maintained and the wifi is at a very fast speed to allow for streaming. Great variety of local restaurants in the nice town, within a very short walk. We will be back in the fall!
I am perplexed by an earlier review. Until this year, I’ve kept my boat in Newport, RI, so I can be a harsh critic. But I’m very happy at HMB where I have experienced nothing but friendliness, fairness, and high functioning services. I thank the earlier reviewer for reminding me that high winds create waves. I’ll have to ask Steve to fix that. Maybe he can build a dome. Friends’ boats kept elsewhere snapped dock lines and sustained lots of canvas damage. As far as I can see, nobody at Half Moon Bay sustained any serious damage. I’ll credit their location and giant sea wall. My WiFi works well, especially considering that it’s shared by many. My pricing is exactly what I was quoted when I called. If you want no waves and perfect WiFi, it sounds like a backyard pool might be a better option than a boat. The power to review directly to a business’ audience is one of the few great characteristics of the internet. Let’s all try to be fair and realistic.
Best marina on the Hudson River. Great marina experience. Very clean. Excellent WiFi and restaurants deliver quickly to boat slips.
PROTECTION FROM WAVES: It was Tropical Storm time. When wind rotated they were 2-3 feet waves INSIDE the marina. If you seek refuge AVOID this place. Better protection in the 2 marinas in Osining, near by. DEPTH: At a regular low tide is 7 feet in docks D, 6 feet or less in A,B,C. Not as advertised. SLIP finger was full of dove poop and feathers. Imposible to step on. Also is full of green and black mold. They cleaned some and I finished cleaning. Mold still there. WIFI: At 07.00 AM their high speed wifi showed (google test) 0.56 Mbps upload. Disconected after that. Bad or non existent. PRICING:They tried to charge $2.85/ft plus electricity. Active Captain said $2.40. I was told the add was old (2 weeks!) and the right price was in dockwa. It was, but not 2.85 but $2.40 after discounts offered by the marina. Felt that Marina tried to cheat me. No discounts offered for Active Captain or repeat customer.Left a bad taste.
Steve was so helpful and friendly! Emmitt didn't even work there, yet he rushed to help us tie up. This marina has one of the most scenic views ever.
Best spot in the area. Excellent communication from Steve who provided marina maps and a video to make the arrival very easy. Quick cab ride or walk to restaurants. Will definitely stay again.
Beautiful spot. No current. Easy in and out of the slip. Dockmaster Steve was very helpful. We rode our bikes into town, had an excellent lunch, and found beautiful produce at Apple Farm. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Half Moon Marina
Steve sent us a marina map marked with our slip so we were completely prepared to dock when we arrived. Fenders on the proper side and all dock lines ready. He recommended places of interest and places to eat. Had a great time ; he was a great host. Loved it and wished all marinas would text a map showing slip assignment.
We originally planned to anchor just North of Crompton point on Saturday night June 27th. However a generator breakdown the night before prompted us to contact the Marina in transit to ask if they had a mechanic who could help us. Steve Plotkin, the marina dock master, was SUPER HELPFUL in putting us in touch with a mechanic read to work on the generator Sunday morning; Steve also offered us and directed us to a perfect transient slip ($2.40/foot), helped us with our docking lines, short power, etc. The Marina itself is decent sized (170+ slips) And docking behind its protective wave wall was very easy. It restrooms were very clean, but contained only one shower; I'd hate to wait for the only shower during the busy season. Sadly, the Marina does not give transient boaters access to its swimming pool; that was disappointing, for sure. Steve was very friendly add very eager to serve but was busier than a one armed paperhanger from the moment we arrived through the moment we left. Hopefully the Marina would be more appropriately staffed during the busy season. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and can recommend this Marina to anyone.
It was a great stay. Steve the dockmaster was extremely helpful and accommodating. Would definitely return to this marina in a heartbeat!
Thumbs up to Dock master Steve, who was impressively attentive. He gave us allot of tips with Restaurants and surrounding attractions! We travelled 14 hrs. (97 miles) in order to get to this well protected Marina along the Hudson River. Nice bike ride to provision, and really enjoyed the surrenady of the beautiful Croxton Point Park!
Steve who runs the marina is very attentive and helpful. We were just looking for a quick one night trip to start off the year. This is a great spot for a scenic trip to a quiet town on the Hudson. Plenty of take out restaurants nearby (walking distance). We didn’t get the opportunity to check out facilities. Hoping to gather some friends with boats to join us on a return trip when weather warms a bit. Next time we’ll cab it to Croton Dam and take the long walk to Croton Point Park.
This was our first trip up the Hudson River. Our original plan was to travel to Albany and back but we decided to cut the second half of our trip up the Hudson short and instead spend five days at Half Moon Bay Maine. It was the absolute best decision we made as it is beautiful here! Staff is excellent, area is perfect for walks with our three dogs and lots of places to explore and provision. The marina is super quiet and the views are stellar. We highly recommend staying here to simply decompress and relax. We will be back!
Steve is great and the place is beautiful! We will be back for sure.
Steve called to make sure he would meet me at the dock. We had an awesome stay here. No rocking, No Noise! Great restaurant nearby completed our Hudson journey. Thanks again Steve for everything......
We called ahead to let Steve know we were going to be early. He was very apologetic because he wasn't going to be there to assist us. We didn't have long to wait and he arrived and directed us to our slip. There is a breakwater to reduce the wave action. The marina is quiet except for the geese that our dog ran off. Steve was very helpful, giving us the lay of the land. The facilities were very nice. We walked to the local shopping plaza for ice cream and water. There is no grocery store there, but we had sufficient supplies. I would definitely stay there again and take advantage of the car rental or train into NYC.
Our stay at Half Moon Bay Marina this past weekend was fabulous. We didn't notice any movement on our boat despite a fairly strong northwest wind. Many new finger piers and unlike most marinas on our two week trip, Half moon marina is very clean and well taken care of. Had a fantastic dinner at the seafood restaurant, Ocean House and the Tavern next door is awesome too. Steve got us a luxury car from Enterprise dealer next door, for $35. Great place to linger and explore the Hudson Valley. Thanks steve and crew!
If you want to visit Croton-on-Hudson but don't anchor, there's no choice but HMBM. Steve does what he can as dock master but facilities are limited: one shower each in men's and women's rooms; same mildewed curtain as 3 months ago. Condo association does not allow boaters to use pool. Piers not well maintained; some areas covered in guano. Reasonable shelter from east and south winds but if there's any 'west' in the wind, it's not comfortable.
We stopped at Half Moon both on our way up to Lake Chaplain and on our return voyage down the Hudson. The nearby train station and rental car office made it a convenient location to visit nearby friends and NYC. The marina is located in a bay with a wave wall that limits wind and wave action from the river. This is an important feature not enjoyed by many marinas along the river. Shoreside facilities are shared with the private workout room but the heads and showers are limited but clean. The walking and biking trail along the shore provides an opportunity to get some exercise. We found Steve, the manager, to be very helpful and made he very effort to make certain we had a nice stay at this marina.
Very resort-like marina, and lots of choices in restaurants to walk to. All are a block or two away so easy walk for sure. Ocean House for seafood or the Tavern bar and pub next door are our favorite so far. Love the the new produce market place that opened next door called Apple Farm. WiFi is very strong here. Clean restrooms and nice, wide, full finger docks. Half Moon Bay Marina also got us a half off Enterprise Rental Car to tour West Point and the Culinary Institute. Thank you Steve & staff!
when cruising north or south on the Hudson River this is our preferred stopover. Steve, the Dockmaster could not be more helpful . Only thing preventing a five star is the lack of amenities. Good job Steve.
Good stop. Dockmaster Steve is helpful with docking and recommendations. Docks are being re-decked. Shower (only one in men's room) is clean.
We enjoyed our stay at Half Moon Bay Marina. We took a train into the city and spent some time there before returning to Half Moon Bay. Steve was very accommodating and we were confident our boat was secure and safe while we were away. The only down side was the wakes from the boat traffic kept us rocking and rolling until late in the evening. The night traffic was far less so no rocking and rolling through the night.
Great location and very convenient to rental car, groceries and restaurants. Steve does a great job to assist in any way possible. Not the calmest waters sometimes - not sure why.
Stopped here on our way up the Hudson. Steve directed us to the dock and gave us a lot of help getting in. The docks are wooden floating docks, bathrooms and showers are also nice. It's protected from the East, North and West. If there's a south wind, you may rock a bit but not bad. I would definitely stay here again.
Clean, well maintained marina. Dockmaster Steve was very helpful even after hours- sending me txt picture of layout and slip for my nighttime arrival
Great stop close to good restaurant Memphis Maes. Steve Dockmaster was most helpful even with a after hours arrival.
Great stop as it is central to Croton Gorge, BEAR mountain State PARK AND AN EASY TRAIN RIDE TO THE CITY. well kept marina, friendly boaters.
My wife, Pat, and I have been to Half Moon Bay Marina on several occasions on our 48’ motor yacht, Reflection, and our most recent visit was in July of 2018. We have always found the marina to be an excellent place to stop and the marina manager, Steve Plotkin, to be extremely helpful in any way he can. Half Moon Bay is a very safe and well - protected marina with floating docks and an excellent view of the Hudson River. It lies on the eastern shore of the River in Haverstraw Bay over 3 miles away from the main ship channel, thus eliminating the rolling from wakes that can be experienced at many of the marinas in the New York City area. Some of its other features are: It is in close proximity of the Croton-Harmon Metro North train station where you can take a very scenic 45-minute train ride to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Car rentals are in walking distance of the marina for those boaters who may want to visit West Point, the Culinary Institute of America, or other historical homes on the Hudson. Those boaters who enjoy hiking can also visit the nearby Croton Gorge Park at the base of the New Croton Dam, Falls, and Fountain. There are many restaurants also within walking distance of the marina. It has well-maintained wide floating docks with long finger piers. The manager has a list of independent mechanics that are available, in case your boat requires repairs. We highly recommend Half Moon Bay Marina as a wonderful stop on the Hudson River.
I rented a slip for a weekend. Very nice marina! Perfectly situated on the Hudson. Beautiful view. Right next to the Croton Point Beach. Very calm water especially for the Hudson. Plenty of places to eat nearby. The manager/dockmaster, Steve, couldn't have been more helpful and attentive when needed. I'll surely return next year.
Lots of amenities at Half Moon Bay Marina! WiFi was very fast. This is an excellent marina with great views, direct access to walking paths and parks on either side of this award winning marina. Walking distance from the train station. Half Moon Bay is very safe, secure and protected with deep water. Received a 50% Off Rental Car at Enterprise. All of these criteria have become next to impossible to find on the Hudson. The management as well as staff at Half Moon Bay Marina, (led by Dockmaster Steve Plotkin ) is exceptional ! Highly recommend.
Friendly and helpful dockmaster. No amenities on site-easy 1/2 mile walk to restaurants Would be nice if pool was open to transients
Coming up the Hudson, we were looking for a anchorage or marina that would allow us a close connection with the Trains to NY. Calling Half Moon Bay, Steve made it clear his marina would be a better choice than any anchorage! We took his word and stayed there 3 days. This allowed us a short visit via train to our children in PA. The marina was just the right size for our needs and everything was clean and easy. Steve was great and I think he would have been our personal tour guide if he wasn't the only one working when we were at the marina. Steve was always on the go in the marina helping all the boaters and residence there with their needs and requests. Great guy! Thanks Steve!
Had a great experience. Steve was very accommodating .The location makes for easy travels to NYC.
Steve went WAY beyond great service during our stay. HIghly recommend and will stay there again. Thumbs up - way up!
Dockmaster, Steve Plotkin, is terrific. He has bent over backwards to make our trip to Half Moon Bay Marina very enjoyable. He is quick to respond to any questions. (my favorite amenity so far is we had our laundry picked up at boat, cost $1/lb. and was delivered back to boat in less than 2 hours!) Try Half Moon Bay!
Came in after hours. The marina manager Steve was very helpful in getting us tied up. We've come to Half Moon Bay several times before and were always pleased with the facility and the service. Short walk to BBQ, fresh donut, pizza, and a diner. NB - strong wind from the west results in a lot of rocking and rolling in the marina despite the sea wall - pay special attention to lines and fenders under these conditions.
Half Moon Bay Marina is not to be missed! Plenty of deep water all over the approach as well as inside the marina. Steve Plotkin, their manager, couldn't have been more pleasant or friendlier. Very funny gentleman as well. We enjoyed many excursions from the marina as a starting base. Enterprise Rent a Car is next door and gave us 50% off on our rental. We checked out the awesome sights at the Croton Dam, which is only 2.7 miles from the marina. Don't miss going to West Point and the Culinary Insitute also. Both have outstanding campuses to tour. Endless presidential estates around the marina too, such as the Rockefeller and FDR estates. TeaTown has really gorgeous nature preserve trails, but since we stayed for 9 days, we were able to check out the phenonenal walking trails that started at Half Moon Bay Marina , and went straight into the adjacent Croton Point Park. Be sure to check out the Ocean House for seafood, and also the A&S deli for all sorts of delicious and fresh Italian and Mediterranean foods. (1/4 mile from marina). The Shop Rite supermarket is Huge and has everything - including a giant wine and beer section.
Very relaxed and very convenient to amenities. If only the dock master could have staged a jazz set. 👍. Lol
Outstanding views. Super clean facility with almost all brand new docks for transient boaters. Docks were all immaculately clean during the entire week we were at Half Moon Bay. Marina is in an ideal location-- an easy and short train ride to and from NYC. Croton Harmon Metro North train station is next door to marina, although you can't hear any of the trains from the marina. And, it's only a quick walk. We also visited West Point military Academy's gorgeous grounds, with a 50% off car from the Enterprise rent-a-car agency, that's located next door to marina. Highly recommend Half moon bay marina to anyone traveling the Hudson!
Good Location. They need to work more at staying ahead of the geese poop.
Steve will be your best friend and is very helpful and working very hard at making this a wonderful Marina. We were tied up along the sea wall and it was bouncy, but no complaints. Beautiful dog friendly walking areas and a great pizza shop just down from the marina.
What a great place ! Clean , Friendly peaceful.Steve does nothing but go out of his way to make sure your stay is nothing but perfect Make a point of staying there
Half Moon Bay Marina is by far the best marina we've been to on the Hudson, by a long shot! Stayed a week there, and we're still not sure what the agenda of the prior reviewer was! Very short walk to the A&S deli for groceries, and Shop Rite supermarket isn't a bad walk. We found Steve and his assistant Ricky to be so helpful and offered outstanding customer service. Our Boat US discount was applied. Many laundry options are there. There is a great self serve laundramat next door, and at least 4 or 5 great, and very inexpensive dry cleaners who offer free pickup & delivery of your clothes. The top Zagat rated Ocean House Seafood restaurant is only a very quick stroll along an amazingly scenic riverwalk from the marina. So many other great restaurants within a half mile such as EATalia, Raga ( Indian restaurant), or Cappriccios II. Even the Croton Diner has terrific food. One of our favs though is the Tavern, which is an enjoyable 1/4 mile walk from the marina along the new bicycle/ dog walking greenway pathway.
Dockmaster is very nice but strung me along until I actually docked before he would tell me what the rate would be for a weeks' stay. No discounts for Boat US, etc. Didn't believe it fair to others who wouldn't qualify. In the end, we paid for 6 days and got 1 free. Last day he really discounted the dockage to entice us to stay 8 nights. Very far to walk for groceries. No loaner bikes. Convenient to the train if you have a car. No laundry. Pool not available to the Marina, which was a disappointment.
Marina is secure and clean. Not much in the way of amenities. Steve is extremely accommodating so he gets an extra star.
