Sandpiper Cove Canal — Your Premier Destin Boating Retreat
Located in the heart of Destin, Sandpiper Cove places you minutes from the best of the Emerald Coast. Enjoy a 12-minute boat ride through Destin Harbor to Crab Island, a 10-minute ride to HarborWalk Village, and just 12 minutes to the pass into the Gulf of America. Our private boat launch is available exclusively for registered guests and is free to use.
Sandpiper Cove is more than canal docking — it’s a private waterfront community built around your comfort and recreation. While docked you and your registered guests have access to a private golf course, beach with beachside restaurant, five resort-style pools, pickleball and tennis courts, and all community amenities reserved for guests. We offer attentive, customer-focused service: when you’re a Sandpiper Cove guest, you’re part of our family — everything we do is designed to deliver the best possible boating experience.
For canal reservations, please remember our check-in time is 11:00 AM and check-out is 1:00 PM. Water and electric hook-ups run along both sides of the canal for convenient access. We recommend bringing extension cords to charge your batteries and water hoses to flush your motors. Trailers are not allowed on property, unless you have a condo with underneath parking. (Units 4106-4215, 4206-4215, 4130-4139, 4230-4239, and Villas 1-43 are the only allowed trailer parking.)
The boat owner must be an owner or a registered guest in a condominium at Sandpiper Cove. Boat ownership is defined to mean either personally or as the person with the controlling interest or majority stockholder of a corporation or partnership owning said boat. Instructions for Docking Permit Retrieval
Arrival by Trailer
1. Stop at the gatehouse upon arrival.
2. Retrieve your docking permit from Access Control at the gatehouse.
3. Proceed to the boat launch once you have the permit.
4. Trailers are not allowed on property. Unless unit permits underneath parking.
Arrival by Water
1. Securely tie your vessel to the dock adjacent to the boat ramp.
2. Call the gatehouse at (850) 654-2300 to request delivery of your docking permit.
- An Access Control officer will direct you to the main entrance.
- Alternatively, you may disembark and walk southeast along the pathways or through the 9000s to the main entrance to retrieve the permit in person and finish your check in procedure. (Please bring your Government Issued Drivers License.

Very convenient. Having electricity and fresh water at your mooring spot is very nice. I was on spot 16. Unfortunately, a golf ball from the resort’s golf course hit my boat. Some sort of backstop is needed to prevent this. I would use this service again, regardless.
