After 6 years of being a member at Cooks Bay Marina, having the same slip, having our boat stored in the winter on site, summarizing/winterizing year after year. The marina chose to give our slip to a new member (without notice to us). In inquiring about why and asking if they could move that new member to a different slip I was told "No, we're not moving them, they paid" keep in mind our boat was still on their property in indoor storage for the 6th year in a row. Apparently that has no meaning. Being a member there obviously means just taking your money. They have zero concern or loyalty to a member who has been there year after year. They would not take fault in their actions, they infact said "We asked the new member if he'd move and he said no, there's nothing we can do" They also said "We sent out an email to every member to pay for their slip last fall" I did not receive that email, nor did I recieve a follow up call to ask if we were interested in keeping our slip for this coming season (even though our boat was still stored on site inside their storage unit) They said "We only send out the email, we don't do calls, it's on the member to contact us" they did offer us a different slip but they missed the point entirely. If they could offer us a different slip after giving ours away without consideration why couldn't they move the new member to the other slip? The fact that after 6 years of paying into that marina and not even getting a valid reason why this fell through the cracks, that some how this is on us and not them. Terrible way to run a business. Even today when we went to pick up our boat they still could not take blame for their mistake, it was still some how our fault and they refused to accept they made a mistake. Considering this Marina has been taken over by a new owner you'd think they would want to keep their long term clients happy. How can you run a business without honesty and loyalty to the members who keep your place running. Such a sad way to end 6 years of wonderful memories.
