Cranes Mill marina has slowly declined in the 20+ years I've been there. They tore down the Tenant's club house because the AC went out and they didn't want to spend money to replace it. One of the 240v transformers failed so they replaced it with a 208v transformer and keep delaying correcting it - obviously this is effecting the 240v boats. The Tenants restrooms use to have combination locks but they were removed, now anyone can come in off the lake to use the restrooms plus the marina fails to keep the restrooms clean or the trash emptied. There are a number of boats that haven't seen their owners in years and are filthy - the marina makes no effort to make the owners maintain their boats. The are numerous slip fingers that are sinking. The price of gas is at a minimum $1.50 above the street price. About the only improvement they'e made in the last 10 years was they've installed wifi - but it is slow and erratic. And they just raised rates again about 3%.

Marina Response:
Dear Insfds, I am sorry that you feel that we have neglected Cranes Mill. I’m not sure who gives you your information but to clarify. The transformer was installed by the former owner of the marina, not Suntex. We have not had any issues with the electrical service until recently when several owners upgraded their vessels and now demand exceeds the supply. We currently have an electrician working on a solution so that we will be able to accommodate boats that need 50amp connections. As you can imagine this is not an inexpensive job, and unfortunately it is not as easy as just replacing the transformer. The entire main electrical line must be upgraded in order to install a larger transformer. As you know we have a new marina manager at Cranes Mill, J.P. Schott, please let him or I know immediately if the restrooms need attention. We have a schedule that is in place to help keep our facilities clean, please let us know if they are ever unsatisfactory. We decided to remove the old Alamo Yacht Club building for many reasons, many years ago. The air conditioner that serviced that building is the same unit that cools the newly remodeled restrooms there now. The decision to open it up and create a community area was so our marina tenants can host parties, use the BBQ pit provided by the marina (Army Corps SOP only allow for gas grills in community areas), or just hang out on the picnic tables with friends. As you know the old building had holes in the floor that used to be used as a fishing pier before the AYC used it as a meeting room, and the overall condition was extremely poor. Since we transformed it into an open community area it has been utilized much more than the old building ever was. We are currently working on a plan to further enhance the area with new tables, grill, counter tops and sink. This should all be completed within the next 30 days weather permitting. We purchased all the new floatation last year to refloat many of the slips, but as you know the marina on the north side was severely damaged in the storms in 2017. We not only had to utilize our maintenance team to stabilize the marina until we could replace the damaged docks, but we also pulled in several crews from across the country to help. We were able to replace the 40-year-old gangways with newer, safer and longer aluminum bridges last year and with any luck this year our crews will be able to update the flotation on the docks that need it. We have many more projects planned at Cranes Mill over the next several years and are in the approval stages with the ACOE. If you would like to discuss in further detail, please feel free to give me a call. -Don King, Regional Manager
