The Biddeford Pool Yacht Club is not a marina. We are a private Yacht Club that welcomes transient boaters to use our facilities for a nominal fee. We do not have slip space available. Our guest moorings are located in Wood Island Harbor, outside of the Pool. When it blows hard from the North or East the anchorage can become quite uncomfortable.
Moorings are $45 per weeknight and $55 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday up to 4 nights. If you'd like to stay longer than 4 nights, the rate doubles for each night you book thereafter. Maximum stay is 7 nights.
For over 80 years, members have gathered at the club for sailing, racing and our annual Chowder Luncheon. We offer sailing lessons to members and non-members alike. BPYC also works with the Fisherman's Association to share our waterfront and keep the local fishing tradition alive. We're open to new members and encourage boaters with a connection to the Biddeford community to apply. Additionally, there is a small local grocery store within walking distance of the club for those that need provisions.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay and the nice clubhouse, history and shower…..thank you
Protected little pond as long as winds aren’t north and/or east. Cute yacht club with friendly staff and nice, simple, clean bathroom + shower. Area is a bit remote from any stores or restaurants once tourist season is over but a 15 to 20 min cab ride away from Kennebunkport- lots of great dining and provisioning options there. Great little stop over that is not out of the way or much of a detour if heading south/west. Also nice dinghy adventure possibilities up the Saco river if feeling adventurous.
Was able to call in on my cell phone and reserve a mooring at 9:30 am. Completed transaction when I had cellular service in the harbor. Great service from the staff.
Yacht club was helpful. Mooring was perfect. Great dinner at Goldthwaite’s.
Our favorite stop when heading Downeast every summer.
Nice stay. Our mooring was right at the no wake maker so we were rocked a little.
Our only issue was heading into the Gut and then finding out that our mooring was just outside the Gut. Mike and the launch service was very nice and showed us the Clubhouse and shower (just one). The general store 100’ away had everything we needed and the gift shop was lovely.
BBYC is a true gem. Down to earth friendly club with nice facilities lots of confusion on the assigned mooring but finally cleared it up. Thank you courtesy.
very nice visit! beautiful spot, great mooring and launch service
Very nice Anchorage, super helpful folks on the phone. The mooring appeared to be in very good shape, clean lines and a pick up stick.
The rollest anchorage I had ever stayed. When I chose to stay there it was because the picture showing the pool where some moorings are is well protected. They only own one mooring there for a 35 foot boot. The rest of their moorings have no protection from any direction of wind.
We always enjoy staying on a Biddeford Pool mooring. It was an exceptionally calm evening for great sleeping.
Great people, went out of their way to refuel and supply us water after a long trip. Friendly knowledgeable nautical staff. Awesome location great for fishing, paddling, swimming and dog walking
Very convenient location when traveling back and forth to Maine
We spend the week of the 4th every year here. Great location and a terrific staff! O’K Livin’
Biddeford Pool is a sweet, beautiful location and the BPYC moorings are convenient to the clubhouse and dinghy landing. The fellows running the YC launch operation are knowledgeable , fun , helpful and welcoming. I enjoyed a one night stay and look forward to returning.
Very accommodating club, helpful staff, very nice, although modest, facility. Open and somewhat exposed mooring field, but easy to navigate. Fun casual restaurant nearby.
The staff here couldn’t be nicer. Pat, Jack, and (I think) John were great, and moved me into a more protected mooring when a storm passed through. The town is small and quiet, but there’s a good store and unpretentious restaurant. What a great place to pull in after a long day coming up the coast!
Nice place, convenient friendly. Yes, the outer moorings are a bit rolly.
It's so beautiful at BP. You can take the launch ashore and walk through the Audubon park...it's amazing
Great place, excellent response on Channel 71, a restaurant and a nice walking loop around the point.
Great staff, very confident about the quality of the mooring.
The location was ideal and the staff were friendly and helpful. We loved it so much we extended our stay !
Good place - moorings well located for easy access, nice staff. Club accommodations fine, not stellar. Goldwaite's Store nearby - a gem. Lovely area to have a walkabout. Will definitely use again. Brud Weger - J/35 Mad Benwyc - 7' draft- Kittery Point Yacht Club
I enjoy my stays at Biddeford Pool. I like the scenery, the BPYC staff are always helpful and friendly, and Goldthwaite’s market and restaurant is super convenient.
Very accommodating - responded to mooring request quickly on VHF and directed us to it. Launch was available to take you to town, really nice launch captain, very personable and certainly aimed to provide reliable and quick service. Operated until 7:45pm. One gift shop and one grocery/deli in town. Beautiful homes and really nice people, very inviting. Will go back.
Very friendly people, beautiful place, fun to watch the Optis sail
Lovely protected spot inside the Pool. Very friendly staff
Great stop on our way back from our Maine cruise. The launch drivers were very courteous! Had lobster dinner at Goldthwaite's and enjoyed the beautiful sunset!
Wonderful! The staff, club facilities and harbor are among the finest in Maine. Thank you.
we had trouble with the mooring as the line was to short to get into chalk and have the loop cleated. we were assigned to a different mooring. People should be prepared to bridle the mooring loop.
What a unique place! Loved the scenery. Staff was helpful. Wifi was nonexistent, even inside the building. Facilities were clean.
Calm, peaceful night. Nice people. Friendly club with launch service and a shower. Fuel available at slack tide.
Nice yacht club, friendly people, great location. Small grocery store/restaurant//deli, within walking distance. We biked around the area, the tidal pools on the gulf side were beautiful, and nice to swim in.
Beautiful place with very nice people. Fast current and large tidal swings limit available services.
Great location,, super friendly members and staff
Very nice to get on a mooring between Portsmouth and Portland - the mooring field is in wood island harbor- it’s gets a lot of swell from the ocean- but very welcome to pull over and take a break for a night. The staff of the yaght club is very professional and helpful
During our stay we had mostly calm conditions. One evening we had a bit of a swell, but it was manageable. We loved the launch service!
Great stopover location with launch. Easy in and out.
Excellent mooring, really friendly knowledgeable club officials. Nothing was too much trouble .
John is just a good classic Mainer. Nice, no frills classic Maine, highly recommend!
Nice stay on the mooring ball. Launch operates 8:15 to 4:30. Small village.
Gem of a spot! Beautiful area, charming club and great local food.
Nice harbor, not great mooring. In channel to much current, mooring Ball rubbed against topside causing damage. I should have been warned/i formed about this location. Mooring Ball 83.
Always a great time at the pool. The staff is very helpful and attentive to whatever you need. Our favorite stop along the coast of Maine.
We stayed at Bidderford going east and again on our return. It's a great little club, excellent launch service etc. It gets busy on weekends. The first mooring we tried had a pendant too short and couldn't reach the bow. The launch operator found us a members mooring and it all worked out good.
We really enjoyed our stay in Biddeford Pool! Nice place to enjoy for a couple of days. All of the crew at the Yacht Club were very friendly and accommodating! Plan to stop again
A gorgeous location with an exceptionally welcoming staff. We will definitely be back.
We met Mike on our arrival, very welcoming and helpful. Because we had been here before, we knew the “lay of the land” but after chatting, he was good enough to get us a great mooring and a launch ride to and from the market for dinner. Always a relaxing peaceful night here! (Also met John who was equally friendly)
I forgot my cellphone at the restaurant and the launch driver volunteered to go to the restaurant, retrieve the phone and deliver it to the boat Now that's service above and beyond the call!
Thank you for the mooring and good service. You have a great location on the way down east.
Quick Stop Friendly place with good moorings
Staff and location were excellent. Loved the walk through town and the preserve. Rivaled the Cliff Walk in Newport.
Fantastic stay. BPYC employees welcomed us with open arms and gave us the lay of the land and where to explore
Updated 8/17/2021 This was the third time we’ve stayed at Biddeford Pool. We got good directions to our mooring and the launch service stopped by to see if we needed anything. E didn’t go ashore and planned to just leave early the next morning. The stay was quiet and restful. Couldn’t ask for more. 2019 original review: We got good, simple directions to find our mooring when I called by VHF on approach. Launch service was always quick and efficient. The whole stay went smoothly Took a nice walk in town. Being in season, there were lots of people around patronizing the gift shop and general store.
Biddeford Pool just became one of my favorite's ! Beautiful Spot
Very helpful! They came out to meet us and directed us to our mooring ball. The tender service was very prompt. They also monitored the vhf constantly.
Friendly staff and quiet harbor. Thank you!
Great staff and very picturesque… watch the current
Convenient location for a stopover between Casco Bay and Portsmouth. I had the outermost mooring and it was quite rolly all night, even though seas offshore were only 2-3'. Any weather from the north will likely be very uncomfortable. Didnt get to shore though they do offer a launch.
This is a great spot and BPYC has always been very helpful. As a others have mentioned, the weather can negatively impact the mooring field if winds are NE. We experienced exactly that during the 4th of July weekend of 2021 when winds from the NE started increasing at around 0200 with eventual gusts to 30-which was higher than forecast. Conditions in the mooring field were very bad. Not respecting the forecast was our error, but if you avoid a NE wind pattern, we can highly recommend a stop.
It’s a rolly spot, otherwise it would be a 5. The BPYC staff are super nice and accommodating, and the store is great. I’ll be back I’m sure.
nice anchorage, mooring was in good shape and easy dinghy ride in to shore. It is a very quiet area, especially after labor day when the general is closed for the season. That said, the yacht club was super responsive. The facilities were closed due to covid so i cant speak to that.
Safe harbor to take refuge from some rough weather.
They wouldn’t take transients in launch or let us use showers. Zero amenities but full price which is more than any other moorings around here. When we called to ask for a mooring they never mentioned that they weren’t fully operational. They said it was stated on Dockwa but it was nowhere on registration form, which is all I saw. Not impressed with BPYC or Dockwa. Also the moorings are so far out it was extremely rolling. Not a good night. I understand the need for Covid restrictions and why showers might not be open but a launch with masks and hand sanitizer seems doable. But the biggest thing is to tell people before they book. Anchorage there is actually better than mooring if you get nothing with it. You can get closer to land to take dog ashore without a motor.
As always a nice harbor to relax in. Some of the best sunsets and sunrises on the east coast
I assumed that my mooring would be in “The Pool”. In fact, I was placed in the outer harbor, totally exposed and very uncomfortable. The advertising in Dockwa was misleading. No where was this even suggested as a possibility.
Nice mooring and good stop off point going Downeast
Josh was very helpful on the phone. The mooring was easy to find. Understandably no services are available at this time due to COVID but transients are allowed to come ashore. Masks are required per governors orders.
Very peaceful night on the mooring ball. We draw 6ft and had no problems with depth. We dingied to yacht club and bought a nice steak at the town store. Cooked out and were able to get a quick start the next am. Recommend
Even though the mooring field is on the outside, the field is quiet and comfortable. Great launch service, friendly and professional staff. The local store has everything, including a superb fish market. Sorry I forgot the Hingham YC burgee for exchange.
Great stop. Quiet little town with one restaurant general store, Goldthwaites. Nice provisions and Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Moorings and anchorage available.
Absolutely gorgeous! A great place to stay on way to Maine. Bittleford Yacht Club very accommodating and courteous.
We had a wonderful stay. The yacht club is small but amenities are clean. A really good general store and restaurant is walking distance from the club. Not much else in the way of shopping out there and it is a good drive into town (10 miles). Tender was very responsive and they run two tenders on busy afternoons.
Great stay, friendly staff, facilities were nice and clean. Highly recommended. I’ll more than likely stop again next year.
Arrived at 7:20 pm with mooring reservation. Tried to hail the club multiple times on arrival (7:20pm), with no response. Club was empty and no idea where our mooring was, plus getting dark. Narrow inlet, rocky harbor and strong currents. Instead of an apology, got a tongue-lashing for being on their dock. I received a subsequent apology, which was much appreciated. I agree with all the other reviews-- hope to go back sometimes. Fabulous location.
Great grocery and restaurant Pool Lobster F. O. Goldthwaites. Restock the wine racks with a great retail selection.
All good, great launch people. Will be back for sure.
They couldn't find our reservation and had it for the following night. They called the manager and straightened it out.
Excellent. Launch drivers very helpful. Harbor beautiful
