Located on the Piscataqua River, Portsmouth Yacht Club was founded in 1898 in Portsmouth, NH, and moved to its present location in New Castle, NH, in 1938. Our facilities include a full kitchen, outdoor grills and refreshing showers as well as fuel for your vessel. The fuel dock is open 7 days a week in season and is available to all boaters. Our club members and staff will provide a welcoming atmosphere for visiting yachtsmen.
Transient moorings, located in front of the club as well as in Pepperrell Cove in Kittery, ME, are serviced by our launches that will bring you to the club or the Pepperrell Cove docks.
Although the clubhouse is open seasonally, the membership is active year-round. Our annual activities include club races and cruises, many social functions, weekly dinners in summer, as well as family events, all of which are always well attended.
As Commodore of Portsmouth Yacht Club it is my pleasure to extend an invitation to passing yachtsmen to visit our club and enjoy our hospitality.
Excellent launch and waterfront staff, very convenient mooring location
Very nice club facilities and helpful launch staff. Stiff currents in the river mean that the club's mooring field is located across the Piscataqua River from the clubhouse, on the Kittery side, in Pepperell Cove. The mooring field is easy to navigate and is well served by PYC launch service. If you're lucky you'll see Minke Whales in the mooring field, as we did.
Wonderful, safe, easy to pick up mooring. Immediate response on CH 78. Launch driver was quick and kind, but lacked local knowledge. We like when we can get info about dinghy docks, restaurants, etc. he answered “I don’t know” to every question!
The staff is helpful and friendly. Facilities are awesome.
Friendly staff, launch service is a big plus. Purchased gas at the Yacht Club next day - price is good, dock staff excellent.
The PYC is on a main channel in Portsmouth harbor, the 4a commercial boats send wake the knocks around boats on mooring. The staff was nice and dinghy dock was fine. Only detractor is the heavy traffic and tossing and turning.
We were confirmed for a mooring but after 2 emails and then calling the club we were finally given the mooring number. All other stops on our trip we always received a welcoming email with directions and all pertinent information like passwords facilities available and mooring number so when we arrived in an unfamiliar port we were well informed. Once we did call the woman was very polite just wasn't very forthcoming
Great spot, great people. Stayed at the Pepperel Cove side.
The kids working on this marina are 5 star plus. BUT the current on the mooring is insane. Very rolly and the. The fishing fleet comes out at 5 am rocked us with a huge wake. Go across to safe harbor better option
This Club is terrific ,,,,,,PYC accommodated our last minute reservation change , without an issue . We did not use any services on this stay , just an overnight mooring to stay ahead of weather. Definitely will be back.
Excellent stopover! Really enjoyed New Castle. PYC is very courteous.
Great location! We did not use shore facilities but they were offered, along with launch service. Reachable, helpful, and friendly staff!
Responsive to our request for a mooring near the NH side and wonderful launch drivers.
Nice spot, be prepared for powerboat wake and rather strong current on the mooring. Very friendly and nice club.
Great location. Launch will run you across to dinner at Pepperrell Cove
Great launch staff and welcoming members. Would return.
Great staff: hospitable, informative, friendly and gracious. Wyatt and Liam were wonderful ambassadors and took us across the river to a restaurant. Steel your nerves when picking up your mooring, the current was running about 3 knots when we picked up ours.
We had a lovely stay at Portsmouth Yacht Club. Pretty clubhouse, easy walk to New Castle beach. Thanks to launch driver Liam, such a great host.
Lovely clubhouse. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. At times getting a launch pickup at Pepperell Cove was a long wait.
Nice YC! right inside the harbor on port. Floating dock with diesel, ice, water available at the dock. Dock hands were very helpful when we pulled in. Portsmouth pump out boat "Royal Flush" available with a day's notice. Great guy!
One of our favorite places. The dock hands are simply a great group of young adults. We really enjoyed them. We have a black lab, Blackberry, with us that requires going ashore multiple times a day. The dock hands were very accommodating in picking us up in the launch whenever we requested. The town is delightful. There is one heck of a strong current and it can get rolly but hey, that's part of boating. We are definitely coming back. S/V Lyric
Facilities and dock staff are great. We rented a mooring for a week but were not sleeping on our boat. The Piscataqua River has a lot of current and location is susceptible to windy conditions. If sleeping on your boat, conditions would be a bit rough and you rock back/forth.
Wonderful dockhand in Liam. Loved the history information and his polite manner. Beautiful harbor at Pepperell Cove.
Helpful friendly dock crew. Easy mooring access (note that most actual moorings are across the river, but close with quick launch service) and quick fuel and ice too. Will definitely be our go to when visiting Portsmouth.
Very nice stay in PYC’s mooring field in Pepperill cove. It was a little rolly early morning with the fishing boats headed out but other than that not complaints. Great launch drivers and clean facilities. Did not buy fuel but did note pricing for gas and diesel seemed the going rate. Headed to Chauncey Creek for seafood while visiting. Prices seemed high and the quality was a little lower than expected. Gritty muscles and a tourist lobster. The captain from Maine was not impressed. Newark’s seafood was much better!
Spent a lovely evening in Pepperril Cove. Launch took us to PC dock for a very nice dinner at Frisbees.
The staff was helpful from the minute we pulled up to the fuel dock till we left in the morning.
I had to modify my reservation a couple of times and Portsmouth Yacht Club responded quickly and were able to accommodate me. In addition launch service worked well.
Staff - Mattie and Patrick were incredibly helpful and professional. Also other dockhand helpful with fuel up. Club shower washrooms very clean Easy access with Uber to wonderful historic downtown Will definitely return and stay here! Tune Cat
Very friendly staff and appreciated the prompt launch service. Location is great if you've got bikes to head into downtown Portsmouth. However, the location of the moorings are right next to a busy channel and the current is fierce. It made for some uncomfortable rolls and challenging on/off the boat launch.
Great setting, nice people to work with, offers nice launch service.
Place is great. Helpful fuel dock, easy to approach with 36’ sailboat. Great clubhouse, clean showers. Mooring we stayed at was on the Kittery side, nice restaurants harborside. Hefty mooring ball, surrounded by some beautiful boats. Would chose PYC again in a heartbeat. Sidenote: current rips here and the channel is wide to cross in a dingy without an engine.
Great location for transit from Maine to MA or vice versa. Friendly small club. Recommend larger showers. Launch drivers and guest host were great!!
Stayed in Pepperel cove. Easy in and out off the morning.
Mooring field in Pepperell Cove is subject to the wakes of a lot of river traffic, and the prevailing SW wind and waves. A lot of rocking and rolling...
Excellent! Great facility. Kyle, at the dock, was super friendly and helpful. Thank you for the stay!
It was a bumpy night with a southerly wind. Once you get a confirmation of a reservation YOU need to call for your mooring assignment
The launch drivers were very friendly and professional. We got in late and wanted to go to dinner, one driver stayed on for and extra 30-minutes for us to get back. Great facility, friendly members. Sorry I forgot the HYC burgee for exchange
Nice facilities, showers, free WIFI, The only diesel and Gas in Portsmouth Harbor, transient moorings (although no transient dockage) with launch service.
