The Marina at Newport Harbor Island Resort

Very nice marina, clean, docks were new, dock Master was great. Nice place to stay on Goat Island in Newport.

We stayed for two nights in September 2024. All the other reviews mention how great Sean was and I have to say that is all true. He was good about confirming our reservations, arrival and departure times, and was friendly and competent with line handling on the docking with his crew. A good experience here.

We have stayed at this marina on many occasions and Sean (the Manager and Dockmaster) is very accommodating and makes sure your stay is always top-notch. We cant say enough good things and will be back next year.

Sean the dock master and manager of the marina is the best. He is very accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It’s our favorite destination not only because we love the great views of the Newport harbor that the slips offer but the incredible service that Sean provides to his marina guests. Looking forward to coming back before the end of the season!

Excellent small marina . Away from the crowds, totally protected. Easy access. The best part is the staff, Sean, Conner, and Tommy. Friendly and very professional.

We stayed from July 3-7th 2024. Sean the Dock Master and Tommy his assistant could not have made our trip more enjoyable. They are a class act. From being right at our slip as we turn in, to offering ice and pump out, taking our trash and asking do we need anything at all every time they saw us. They are on their game! We saw another boat coming in on one engine during our stay. Sean sprang into action hopping in a tender to assist the captain. He then apologies for the very temporary chaos. In our travels by boat from Florida to RI we have never seen a dock master as professional as Sean. The Marina itself is quiet, protected and clean. A lovely relaxing place to visit.

Stayed for a couple of nights over the weekend. Spectacular marina! Dockmaster Sean was extremely helpful and accommodating. The amenities at the hotel were amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

It is an extremely wonderful place. The dock hand is so accommodating and helpful. The Main facility is really beautiful. They offer shuttle busses to the center of town/Newport.

Sean, the dock master and his assistant Tim, were fantastic, professional and they went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We came to Newport for a wedding at The Marina Resort. Sean helped us take the bride and groom out for a little cruise under the bridge. They were very attentive to ensuring our docking experience went well! Thanks guys. We will be back! This is the best marina in Newport…. Hands down. Clean, the dockmaster Sean is amazing, responsive, connected to an awesome renovated hotel with restaurants. Best place to catch a sunset. I’m a seasonal renter here all summer and been here 4 years - stoked for the renovations, Sean to be back and season to start!!

Was absolutely great. The ammenities. The docks and the dock help are all top notch. The Hotel is beautiful and allowing use of the pool was an added plus. Great place all around.

Sam, the dockmaster was outstanding. Only thing that could be better was more reliable wifi coverage at the docks.

The Dockmaster, Sean, was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and runs the operation exceptionally well. Make sure to avail yourselves of the resort facilities. The complimentary van service and water taxi conveniently take you right to the center of town. We will definitely return!

Great service! 5 Starts! Just wish they dock and resort communicated better. No dedicated facilities for dock/mooring folks. Originally they were going to make us use the pool showers that closed at 6pm… got a security escort to use the spa showers after hour. Otherwise a nice quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle of Newport(1mile walk into town).

Not as great as the Gurney’s Star Island marina. It was ok, kind of small.

Gurneys was a great venue. Lots of amenities at the hotel. The dockhands, Sean and Corey went over and above to provide services at the dock.

Great staff. We had power issues with the new GFI system there. They worked hard and moved me to a non GFI pedestal. The pool was very crowded and not geared to family but a first class facility.

Sean the dock master was very helpful, the view was gorgeous and the docks were great.

Great concrete floating docks with excellent service. Discounted price off season, but still charged resort fee despite most of the amenities were closed. Had a rough night with little protection with northerly winds.

We had a memorable stay at Gurneys Marina. The marina itself is impressive with no expense spared on the facility. Our shore power was ample and it was the only marina all season that didn't give us any power issues. The resort amenities are great and the onsite restaurant Scarpetta was a real treat. Nothing was any trouble for any of the marina team. John, Sean and Aspen made sure we felt welcome and were well taken care of.

The docks and dockmaster is first class. The restaurant and staff have much room for improvement.

It's always a pleasure to visit this marina. The dock staff are friendly and very accommodating.

Facilities were fine. Dockhands were attentive while on dock and helpful while docking. They sure wanted to give us ice. My issues were all preventable by the marina policies and staff. I sent a dockwa chat early afternoon asking for a slip assignment and telling of our ETA. I got no response. At 2:45 I got a text from dockmaster asking when we were expecting to arrive. I responded 4 minutes later telling him when we expected to be there. No response. Called on ch 9 as we approached and was told to stand by. They scrambled to untie a boat they had in our slip. This was after the window in which I said we would arrive. We hovered. After We docked it became clear that though staff was wearing masks they were not enforcing any mask rule on the docks at all. Turning on my underwater lights drew a group of maskless people who hovered around me on the dock. I slipped away as soon as possible but they stayed and fished right off the stern of my boat. We went to dinner. Gate was left wide open All day until 10pm. We were given a code and when we came back from dinner could not open gate. There was no mention of a latch that went through the dock to keep gate from opening. Took a few tries to figure it out. We were not the only ones who struggled. Bush league. When we returned to boat I heard someone in the crowd still fishing off my stern say “ I think he’s staying at the hotel tonight”. At that point I decided to tell them I was turning off the lights and did so. They cursed me. I now know why nice marinas don’t allow fishing. This did not feel like a nice marina to me esp compared to Boston Yacht Haven 2 nights before. They were cheaper and much more professional. I realize the marina can’t choose their guests but simple things like mask enforcement and no fishing rule would have made my stay pleasant. Will not return.

As a seasonal slip holders we have a chance to enjoy all summer of the incredible service, care and attention to details by the best dock master Sean and his crew. We feel like a part of Guerney’s family and can’t imagine anything better. The Marina has absolutely great location, you can use the resort amenities and experience unbelievable sunsets, sunrises and anything between. You will be spoiled by constant offer of ice, water, help with docking and boat cleaning. We are very thankful and would highly recommend to anyone from the boating family. You can meet very interesting people, while sitting at the launch chairs located on the marina dock. Thank you for the magic summer - even more appreciated during this unprecedented season.

Very nice place to dock your boat. We spent two nights with our sailboat. Ideal location near Newport. Beautiful sunset scenery on the lawn. Nice to be able to use the pool and amenities. Unfortunately the showers were closed during our stay due to the coronavirus pandemic. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful at the dock. A 15 minute walk to downtown Newport across the goat Island Bridge. The margaritas from pineapple club with the orange summer sunset is to die for.

Great spot, Sean the dock master was awesome and got us all moored up. The dock itself is built for aircraft carriers, so solid you don’t feel a thing. Restaurants and pools are great 360 water views. May cost a little more than other marinas in the area but is worth it.

Sean ( dockmaster) and Harry & Cole( dockhand) run a great marina and were fantastic in terms of whatever needs boaters may have. Pleasure to deal with and one of the reasons we will be back.

Great amenities - pool was clean and well kept. No showers at all which was a little annoying. Other than that we had a great stay!

Great spot and the guys on the dock are very attentive. One thing to note is that currently (July 2020), there are no showers available due to COVID. This is something that I wish were were told before we committed. We were able to make the best of it and shower on the boat.

We had an amazing stay at Gurney’s! Shawn, Cole and Crew were great and took care of whatever we needed. We will be staying here again next year for sure!

Sean put us in the transient slip for 4 days and unfortunately we were exposed to direct waves and wind resulting in excessive boat motion. Even after requesting a move to other slips (which were available), we were not able to enjoy our boat or marina. I cancelled my reservation at Goat Island Marina for Gurney’s but will not make that mistake again. To top off, At the fireside bar, waited 1-1/2 for an entree and was overcharged and could not find waitress. Thanks Gurney’s for a miserable weekend and poor customer service. Won’t be back.

Shawn,Cole and crew were the best. They give Ritz Carlton service on the docks. As a COO of a multi million $ company one of my absolutes I demand of our employees is a great customer experience. The crew here delivered on all accounts!! Great floating docks, pump out at your slip and ice delivered to your boat. My new favorite marina👍

The dock was easy to get to and plenty of space to park larger boats. The views are fantastic and has access to everything you need.

Dock master assisted us in navigation to our slip and tying up. Great spot, restaurants if you do not want to get into town and Uber for heading into Newport.

Docks are great. New floating cement docks, with great access to pump out, water, electrical service. Hotel is nice too, with multiple dining options, access to pool, gym, etc. MUCH more to offer than the average marina! Contacting them upon arrival wasn’t easy. Didn’t respond to multiple hails on CH 9, didn’t answer the phone listed on the reservation. Dock hand finally showed up to help another boater, and we we able to get his attention. Once we got their attention, they gave us great assistance with lines, and electrical hookup. They helped us get off the dock cleanly at departure as well. So other than getting their attention, pretty decent experience!

Stayed two nights. Beautiful spot and hotel was lovely but not much service on dock. Called via VHF multiple times upon approach with no answer. Finally called hotel who said they would get Dock Master to dock. Still barely any guidance on where we were to go and barely any help docking on a windy day. Two guys from neighboring boats hopped off to help. Dock Master Sean was very accommodating when on dock but not there often. Nobody on docks when we left. Loved the hotel and will go back just for that but service to boaters is definitely subpar. Hotel also did not coordinate well with Dockwa and originally charged us one night which we had already prepaid using app.

Great facility and staff!

Upon arrival on Wednesday there was no dockmaster or dock hands to explain the approach or to help tie up. Dockmaster Sean showed up on Thursday and was rude to my daughter. At $410.00 per night, I expected more

Very nice facilities. Sean (at the dock) was always INCREDIBLY helpful directing us on how to get into a spot between two multi-million dollar boats. He and the other guys were always willing to help with anything -- filling the ice boxes with ice and taking away garbage. It's not cheap to stay here, but they are very good.

Place is beautiful. Docks are new and great. Only complaint was there weee no dock hands on leaving. I left at 10:00 am and need help from another boat owner next on the dock. For the price of dockage this should not happen.

Gurney’s continues to raise the bar for guest service. Dockmaster Sean and dockstaff Aspen are absolutely fantastic in every way. They do not just react, but think ahead and ask about potential needs. We will continue to stay here over and over.

Most accommodating and professional service I’ve ever experienced as well as a world class facility

Very nice ...externally the building is very outdated.

Marina and staff were very helpful. Hotel and grounds were very nice. But, marina guests were not allowed to use the shower facilities (which were in the spa). We were directed to outdoor showers by the pool. Also entrance to hotel from marina was through restaurant. Those two issues make you feel like second class at first class hotel. Too bad.

stayed there for a short weekend. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The floating docks and power were perfect. There's plenty of depth in the water. The gym at the hotel is more than adequate. did not use the spa or indoor/ outdoor pool. The hotel restaurants were very good! It's close to town but not within walking distance. Ubers are readily available. They offer a shuttle however we used our dinghy.

Facilities are excellent. Great Spa and workout room. Attentive dock crew..New floating docks. Marina is only 2 years old. They have courtesy shuttles to town (new Tesla SUVs). Good restaurants.

Great place staff was Amazing

The marina staff was beyond Amazing! They were there upon arrival to assist with docking, and were incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the stay. The hotel shuttle to fort Adams for Folk fest was beyond expectations! We will Definitely be coming back!!
