The city of Fall River has several transient moorings available for daily rental in Battleship Cove. The daily rate is $36.50. Come spend the night in Battleship Cove. The kids love to go on the Battleship & the submarine. Get a few boats together from your club and come spend the weekend with us in Battleship Cove.
Museum (Ships) was great and the mooring balls appear secure. Many restaurants close; however, no other facilities. Dinghy dock was secure but could use some upgrades.
Very nice place for a weekend or weeknight. The only reason for no 5th star .. I didn't see the pump out boat working like it did the last time I visited. A suggestion. Could each person who registers be assigned a mooring ball (i.e. the letter on it) And the code for the gate.
calm cove near tourist sites, entertainment and restaurants but gate is locked so getting in and out is not possible without the code. Harbormaster leaves at 3pm so if you are later getting in there is no one to tell you what mooringvor the gate code. maybe adding that info to dockwa reservation approval email would help. Some moorings don't have pennants and are impossible to tie onto with a sugar scoop transom or swim platform.
Well protected mooring field and great view of USS Massachusetts. Harbor master was very helpful in assisting us with getting on our moorings. Please note that moorings do not have lines so you'll need a line to pass thru mooring shackle and then tie back to boat.
We love this place. Great museum, great harbormaster. Easy shore access. A working carousel at hand. It's a working class town, not a tourist destination, but plenty of restaurant and brewery options. Highly recommend eating at Sagres Restaurant--great food, large servings, and reasonably priced.
We enjoyed the mooring area which was next to the battleship. There are no services other than the dinghy dock including no public restrooms, trash disposal or water. We attempted to contact the pump out boat with no success. The dinghy dock is locked. Be sure to request the combination before you arrive as there is no one at dock. We used Dockwa for the reservation and received the lock code through their service although we had to ask for the combination as it was not offered. The Wi-Fi signal was decent
Neat and sheltered mooring field, however harbor master was unreachable for mooring assignment. Picked up one of the red and white moorings and proceeded to the dinghy dock, only to find a padlock on the gate for the chain link fence. If you are planning on spending a few nights here try to get the code before you arrive.
Touring the ships in the Cove was interesting, but I am not planning to sail here again, and certainly not on a weekend. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and attempted to contact the Harbormaster via radio and phone for our mooring assignment, but no response. A friendly gentleman on a private mooring told us to pick up any red & white mooring since there were plenty available - he then rode to the dinghy dock and left. We secured our boat and rowed to the dinghy dock (which is in need of repair) only to find that the gate was padlocked! My husband climbed the chain link fence, but I could not. He spoke with Audrey, the nice young woman in the gift shop, who made several phone calls to friends and eventually found someone who knew the combination so we could open the gate. This whole process took over an hour. Warning: this is a noisy place because the mooring field is right under the bridge. The traffic noise abates somewhat overnight. However, at 11:30pm a power boat picked up a mooring directly behind us with music blasting. After 1/2 an hour I came out into the cockpit and they left. But at 3am they were back to party! Shouting and dancing in the cockpit to obscene rap music - just rude, inconsiderate behavior. The name of the boat was Captain Morgan. My husband yelled over and they saw him, turned off the lights in their cockpit but kept blasting the music. We tried calling the Harbormaster but no response, so we called the police who told us there was nothing they could do. We did not sleep well in Battleship Cove. Perhaps it is more peaceful on a weeknight, but I would not recommend staying on the weekend.
A great stay in the cove. Well protected with lots of restaurants close by, many with docks. Good communication from the Harbor Master. The only complaint is that some of the mooring balls had broken or missing extensions, making hooking the mooring a challenge.
Mooring but no pennant. Group of us arrived with “reservations” only to discover we needed to sort out which moorings to use, and we had to raft up in pairs. Poor expectation management.
Bad stay… we were in the last mooring with no protection from the battleship. So the boat was rocking around like crazy all night . The sound with the traffic going over the bridge was noisy all night.
Harbor Masters were super helpful and supportive. Historical park , carousel and Battleship Cove were impressive as was bridge noise but we knew it would be.
Great destination with magnificent views of the naval vessels of the Battleship Cove Maritime musuem. Great person treatment from the harbormaster to assist in landing the moorings.
The mooring offered us a safe harbor during a Gale warning. Officer Barboza was extremely helpful and we had a great time.
Not good experience. Went to dinner at Cove. Decided to stay overnight. Nearly impossible to contact anyone that works for the town to ask about mooring rental. I was told to call the police. Not about to do that. Went to the Kiki for the night.
The harbormaster was very friendly. Great location !
The mooring was fine, but the harbour master had no clue we had a reservation or how me made the reservation. Luckily they had a mooring available.
Excellent visit highlighted by the help we got from the Harbormaster, officer Jose! Kind and courteous, escorted us to our mooring, helped us tie on, came back from patrol to find my kids in their non-working dinghy and a vey pleasant good night on his last pass! Great spot for the 4th surrounded by fireworks everywhere!! Thx Fall River!!!!
Good spot. Easy to find and anchor to the mooring
Great little cove under the shadows of the battleships. Grabbed mooring A right near the dingy dock. No service to speak of, but close to the Navy museum and several good restaurants and bars. 1/2+ mi walk to groceries. Some highway noise but not onerous. Good protection except from the north.
Great stay! We stayed for tropical storm Isaias and had great protection from the south. A very nice harbor master greeted us and helped catch our mooring. A great perk is the navy ships to explore, right there in the cove. The ticket is good for 24 hours and so we went three times and had a blast.
Good. Convenient dinghy dock, good eateries nearby and, of course,, 2 days of touring the ships. Harbormaster was very friendly as well.
Good overnight but a little noisy with city and bridge traffic.
Harbor Master Bob Smith was very nice and professional! Thanks you!
Great stop on our club cruise. The Harbormaster is first rate; helping if you need to loop thru the stand up mooring eye, free pumpout even if you are not aboard. They will even dispose of your trash. We will return again for all that Fall River has to offer.
Great spot right next to the Battleship Massachusetts. Harbormaster was very helpful and accommodating. The museum is outstanding and there is an excellent waterfront restaurant, just north of the cove, within walking distance, on a well maintained boardwalk.
The harbor master is the best! Pump out available and they took our garbage too. Quite a special place to be moored.
I enjoyed the visit of those wonderful battleships and submarine that remind us of the cost of our freedom.
It was an amazing experience to moor that close to the battleships! Appreciated the ability to raft up with our traveling boats and the area was much nicer than anticipated being in the city. The surrounding park along the waterfront is really nice! It is noisy of course since the highway runs right overhead but cove was very still at night. Not much to do in the area though to access safely from the cove. The Cove restaurant was very nice and they have a dinghy dock. Borden Light Marina right before the bridge has ice and gas. Only negatives - no place to get water or get rid of trash. No ice on premises. Worth a one night stay to explore a part of history.
Staff was very accommodating with the limited resources they have available. They will bend over backwards for you.
We had a great stay, the Harbor Master was friendly and helpful. There is no launch service but plenty of places to pull your skiff up. There were several waterfront restaurants. Only cons, no breakfast/coffee places close and I would not swim in that water.
The Fall River Harbor Master, his crew and museum folks were very helpful. Our cruising group felt welcome and we all had a memorable time. We will return to explore more about the history and growing marina activities.
Really unique experience! I remember staying aboard the battleship as a kid, but my husband had never visited, so I figured what better way than by water? The harbormaster manages the moorings, and he couldn't be nicer. He and the gentleman who maintains the moorings for him were incredibly welcoming and let us know where to go (and where not to). Fall River's waterfront seems to be making a comeback, and the area around the battleship is totally fine. It's a bit noisy with the Braga Bridge and Rte195 right there, and if you're into places with lots of amenities, Battleship Cove probably isn't for you since you just get the mooring and access to the dinghy dock. However, it's really cool to spend the night with just a few other boats and a battleship and I definitely recommend a visit!
What a terrific place to stay! Our mooring was protected in the harbor behind a battleship. Many restaraunts nearby in addition to having a carosel and museum right at the dinghy dock. The harbormaster, Bob Smith, could not do enough to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. Kudos to Bob, we had a great weekend with friends and will certainly recommend, battle ship cove as a destination to our boating community.
Never before in any marina or public marine facility have we been treated so nicely, and cared for so well.. Bob Smith of Fall River Harbormaster was the most accommodating any boater could ask for. The moorings are within a few hundred feet of the beautiful And majestic Battleship Cove, with a free dinghy dock and incredible restaurants only feet away. The Fall River waterfront is fast becoming a boaters oasis... and with Harbormasters like Fall River's it's a no brainer that will be back many more times. We spent the night and unfortunately had dead batteries the next morning- I called the Harbormaster and within minutes he was there to jump us and get us going again. And did so with a smile. Kudos to them for your their unsurpassed service and hospitality.
It is beautiful atmosphere. People are so friendly. Harbormaster very helpful and friendly.
