Great staff. Very clean facilities. Great location walkable to many restaurants.

Arrived late almost closed!!! Staff stay there for us... friendly. Clean and full services. That is one of my favorite spot heading N or S for a good stay and avoid to go around Cape Fear. easy access... restaurants walking distance.

This is a beautiful and well kept marina near town, restaurants and the historic district. They would have gotten 5 stars except for their old and outdated restrooms. The ladies room only has two bathroom stalls and one old shower. It’s consistently humid in the bathroom with a loud fan running. The old bathroom facilities seem very out of place in this beautiful marina.

Almost new marina, floating docks, great staff, and all the amenities. Walking distance to restaurants and shops downtown. Highly recommend.

Excellent facility with really friendly staff. We got a ride to Walmart and he waited while a carful of us shopped and then gave us a tour of the town. Some great places to eat along the waterfront too. Very cute town. Would stay here again and again.

Great place for an overnight!

Facilities were very well maintained and the staff were very helpful. We stayed 5 nights and they accomodated us as we needed to get repairs completed under the hull. Beautiful town to visit but too far to walk. Transportation could be a challenge.

We stayed 2 nights at Southport. The staff, particularly John the electrician went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. The facilities were immaculately clean and in good working order - we will definitely stay here again. Thank you Southport!

What a find! I had never stayed at a Morningstar Marina before. Absolutely beautiful docks. Very helpful dock staff. Beautiful facilities. And I loved the dog park. This is the first marina we have been to in 25 years that had one. I would search out Morningstar again.

These people are wonderful. Stayed open in order for me to get fuel….no questions asked, no attitude..just good folks. Didn’t expect a tip, but tipped him just the same. These dock attendants work hard, MAKE SURE YOU SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION!!!

Was assigned a slip with 4'8" at low tide for a boat that drafts 5'. Otherwise very nice property.

This is a top notch Marina easy walk to charming waterfront and town of Southport. The dockhands are great and helpful from communication to docking etc. The only negative is if you need to use the bathroom/shower facilities they are not attached to the main building and need updating.

The Staff is professional and very attentive. The facilities and Docks are high quality . The fuel is high quality no concerns buying fuel here. Very walkable into the Town of SouthPort. Awesome town plenty of places to eat and SouthPort is charming. Only issue we see is they have some shallow areas in the marina and need to drench which we understand is in the works. However they worked with us to be sure we had a spot for our draft. 👍

Beautiful location at the mouth of the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. Peaceful little town with lots to see and enjoy. Marina staff very nice and friendly. Good pump out facilities, small marina store and clean bathrooms. Close to scenic downtown area and restaurants.

The fairways are extremely skinny and we churned up mud coming in and leaving. We have a 4.5 draft.

One of my favorite Marinas all along the east coast. Great team and great service. Diesel a bit more expensive than in other places, but that is not a "dealbreaker".

Very friendly and supportive staff. They even waited for us when we did not make it in time for their closing hour. With 7.3 feet of draft, we are drawing a bit more than their deepest spot. The approach was not a problem and they put us on their deepest spot. Maybe we were stuck in mud at low tide, but did not notice anything at all. The marina has great services and facilities and is within walking distance to the charming town of Southport, including many restaurants. This was a great stopover for us - thanks everybody! Great staff, clean facilities, great location

We have a 6'-9" draft and came in at low tide. Since I used Docwa to reserve the slip, there was no discussion about the depth of the entrance. And, Docwa had truncated the 9" part of my draft which appeared at 6'-0". Either way the marina at low tide was 5'-6". It was a tight entrance for my 57 foot boat, and going aground it mud unexpectedly added to the tension. I had to lay off the dock for about 90 minutes until the tide came in. Dock hands were helpful. Docks were in good conditions. Restrooms fair. Good locatio, close to town. Too expensive. I wish there had been some advance notification about the depth.

Southport Marina is now on our favorite marina list. The staff is great to work with, the reservation process was easy, the bathrooms are very clean, and the location is excellent. We can't wait to return!!!

Great staff, big marina which means a long walk if you are on G dock. Facilities are nice, floating docks are pretty new. Would be nice to offer a golf cart shuttle into town as Uber drivers are rare and cab ride is $20.

Excellent facility. Friendly and courteous staff. Clean bathrooms. Quiet evening. Easy walking access to Southport restaurants, etc. My son keeps his boat at a Morningstar Marina on Lake Wylie, SC and it is equally nice. I would highly recommend this marina and would stay there again.

Wonderful! The staff were amazing - so helpful and courteous! The Marina is very well kept. Our dog loved the little dog park and we enjoyed walking to the town and restaurants. To provision, I used InstaCart and the delivery was seamless.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here so much that we extended our reservation an additional two days. All of the Staff here were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The Marina’s location was beautiful and convenient to walk to the downtown area with great shops and eateries and the restaurants on the waterfront were very close as well. Speaking of restaurants, make sure you dine at Edgewater 122 - AMAZING!! Everyone was very dog friendly and the Marina even had a very nice fenced in dog park - play area on property. Everything at this property was very well taken care of and clean, with beautiful Landscaping and gorgeous sunsets. It was an enjoyable and relaxing stop and we will definitely be back! John & Tammy

Excellent experience at Morningstar Southport. Staff was friendly and efficient. Amenities such as the dog park and bathroom facilities were in great shape. And the easy walk to downtown for dining on the water and shopping make this a must stop on any travel plan.

We enjoyed our stay at the Morningstar Southport. The dockhands were great. All the docks are new. Marina is an easy walk into Southport, which is a wonderful town to visit. Wifi was poor. Wifi signal was strong, but data speed was very slow, when it worked at all. Being "connected without internet" was frequent. We also thought the bathrooms were not up to par with other marinas. I wanted to purchase diesel. I did not because the fuel hose nozzles that were available did not fit into my deck fill. I had never had such a problem before. Fortunately I had plenty of fuel to continue my journey and get fuel elsewhere.

Very quick response to inquiries and dock staff were helpful on arrival and departure. It’s a decent marina in a good location near restaurants and shops. The bathrooms and showers are in need of a refresh and not to the standard I expect from a premium marina. Shower area wasn’t very clean. Some coat hooks and a bench by the sinks and a hairdryer would be helpful too. Overall ok, not premium.

The big Company buyout hasn’t really done much to improve Southport Marina. It’s still very difficult to enjoy showering in comfortable air an water temperatures. The WiFi connectivity is terrible in this day and age. The absence of a Captains Lounge prevents my aging wife from executing her daily Chi Gung / Tai Chi workout that is critical to maintaining her health. Leasing extra space to yacht brokers, etc. is obviously more profitable. It’s clear that the takeover of independent marinas will increasingly penalize cruisers.

One of the nicest, cleanest well run marinas on AICW. Easy walking to several good restaurants. New docks and pedestals. You could make this marina a destination.

Awesome facilities and service along with great dining just a short walk away. Completely rebuilt after hurricane Isaias in 2020, everything is in excellent condition. I am SO happy I decided to cut my stay short at a marina only 1 1/2 hrs north and was able to book here using Dockwa.!

Great location in Southport with wonderful helpful staff, courtesy car, clean laundry and showers. Unfortunately the pump out station was not working for the three days that I was there. They might consider having a back up, portable pump for this type of emergency. I will still highly recommend it as a stop over with amenities. It is close to the historical downtown with restaurants, shops and a wonderful Maritme Museum within walking distance.

A well located and well kept marina

I have recently moved my boat from MA to NC. After researching and visiting other marinas in the area, Morningstar Marina at Southport was the clear choice. Theresa and Eric and their staff are friendly and very helpful, the dock and facilities are in excellent shape. I would highly recommend you visit this maring as your long term home or transient facility

As always our stay here was outstanding. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The convenience of being within walking distance of the restaurants and shops near the waterfront is a huge draw.

It’s was our fourth stay. As always the stay was great. Dock hands right there to help out. Having a loaner car was great. I was able to pick up 10 gallons of oil to do an oil change. Unfortunately it rained Friday night so no Dry St. Pizza. See you folks on the return trip. MV Dauntless

Our stay could not have been better. Everyone and everything at the marina exceeded pour expectations.

We were initially put on a T head that was 20 too short. We were then put in a slip that was 6 feet too short.

This is a great stop on the ICW. We've been here several times now. Clean, modern, well kept, walk to restaurants, great staff, easy in easy out! Great stop!

This is my 4 and final attempt at using this Review tab - so here it goes. My stay was great as always, and the staff could not be more helpful. Facilities and nearby town scenery hard to beat. But see below. The restroom code needs to be more secure A year and # sign is NOT a strong password and should be improved - plus I recommend one separate for women. When you combine a simple password with a man/female code only, it makes women in the shower uncomfortable with the ins\outs at night especially. I was told this by experts - that would be women!. Otherwise, highly recommend this location!

We have been Morningstar customers for a long time, mostly staying at the Golden Isles location. This location did not disappoint as they provide the same high level of service found at the other locations we’ve gone to. The staff are friendly and courteous, the amenities are very clean and there is great potential for outdoor events at the new tiki bar and pavilion area. A nice short walk to downtown Southport takes the pain out of cooking all of the time on the boat! I (hesitantly) highly recommend this marina – only because now I know more people will come here, and we will have to book our reservation earlier!😂

I have docked here many times over the years in my C-Dory. A very nice marina with a helpful staff and facilities. I routinely launch at the public ramp close by and either gunk hole or dock at South Harbor.

Although the marina is top notch with great docks and staff and walking distance to town and great restaurants, we come here twice a year (while traveling the ICW) to attend Hank Pomeranz's nightly lecture and to get fantastic marine service from Zimmerman Marine. These are two great assets to this marina which make coming here extra special.
