Only giving five stars because can't give ten! We planned to stay a couple nights but wound up staying a month. Great location, beautifully maintained, and Charles & Tim were over the top helpful and friendly! Clubhouse with gym and pool table so convenient, well protected from weather, and nice people all around! Loved our stay!❤️
Tim the dock master was awesome! Great help getting into the marina and to the slip. He also had all sorts of local knowledge too. The facilities are excellent too.
Dockmaster Tim is very helpful, and did a great job of guiding us in. Restaurants and stores are within walking distance.
If you’re in the outterbanks this is a Marina not to be missed. The most attentive staff we’ve ever run into. Ian, the dockhand, was fabulous and greeted us as soon as he saw us approach ready to grab lines and guide us into the slip, make sure power and water were hooked up as needed. He also checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed, let us know close restaurants and helped us with getting gas even went out of his way to see if in slip fueling was possible. 10/10 would come back to Shallowbag if I’m the area again.
We decided to ride out a tropical storm at Shallowbag Bay Marina and Tim did an excellent job of communicating with us to make sure our boat was safe. The Marina is in an excellent location, with great facilities, but the experience with the staff made the Marina a place we will definitely visit again. Top choice for OBX vacation.
Tim, the dock master, was a great help and seemed to be everywhere all at the same time! Nice facilities and the pool was perfect on a hot day.
We stopped at Shallowbag Bay Marina for one afternoon/night on our journey down south. We were a little nervous navigating into the marina but Tim, the dockmaster, was extremely helpful and walked us through it step by step. Once we arrived at the dock we received first class service. The marina was super cute, well kept, people were very friendly and the pool was amazing to cool off after a long hot day of travel. Would highly recommended stopping here on your travels.
In four years of cruising the east coast of the USA I have never experienced a worst marina. We had planned to spend two months there but after 20 minutes there we decided it was not a good place. The dock facing the bay where they put us has broken down and lost its ability to arrest the wakes and surge from the bay. They put catamarans in two slips, promising they will only charge you for one, but after you leave they charge you for two. The slip itself is not adequate for catamarans since you will always be missing a piling, the one they removed to fit you. The marina has a constant flow of commercial traffic. A very active parasailing boat comes in and out of the marina as well as other charter boats, they are in a hurry and create a lot of wake. Apparently this is the only marina with gasoline nearby so there are always boats powering in and out creating wake. Then there is the fishing off the dock in back of our boat and people walking by after visiting the restaurant. Next is the Airbnb boats, there are several of those and their guest also fish off the dock near our slip, these are obviously not responsible boat owners and lack the common courtesies we show each other around the dock. Last and certainly not least, the marina boasts about their clubhouse amenities but I assure you, having visited with my grandchildren I would say simply Stay Away if you have children. One of the workers, apparently from one of the many commercial operations there has claimed homestead at the clubhouse. We tried to use it twice and twice he was there, laying on the couch, generally unkempt and watching inappropriate content on the TV. There are two washing machines and two dryers, one of the dryers doesn’t work and you compete for them with the restaurant which apparently uses the room for storage and washing their linens. There was only but one bright spot and that was Tim, the dock master, he is hard working and did his best to make us feel welcomed. The owner or manger is Charles, he is the one who handled the payment arrangements and decided he would charge us for two slips instead of one despite his earlier statement before we arrived that he would only charge for one slip for our catamaran. May you not have to deal with him, he is the very rude individual we long to stay away from when we decided to cruise. Don’t take a chance, there are other marinas around,
We had a great stay at Shallowbag Bay Marina. The marina and its facilities are very well maintained by Tim and his staff and the proximity to downtown Manteo is great. Additionally, Tim proved to be very helpful as we entered the marina. Navigation is a bit tricky, and he stayed late one evening to help us in and make sure we were safely tied up. Should we end up back in Manteo, this is where we will stay!
We have been traveling sine May 18, 2023 from Fl. This is the BEST marina we have stayed at. Tim the Dockmaster guided us in, with the upmost confidence. We had NO problems. Pump out went easy, fueled up with a great diesel price, excellent assistance to our slip and helping us tie up. We were here over the July 4 holiday, GREAT fireworks display, and just a fantastic experience. AND it could not have gone better without Tim Teeple and the GM Charles Mc Kenney!!!! What a hidden gem. And the town is great for walking around. However, Uber is almost non existent, so beware. Thank you Tim and Charlie!!
Great spot and great service. Tim did an outstanding job getting us in. We will definitely return next year and stay longer than just a few days.
Entry is a little tricky but Dockmaster Bill and his crew were great. They had eyes on me as soon as I entered the channel. Communicated frequently and got me in safe and sound. At the dock they took care of all my needs and checked on me several times to see if I needed anything. Would definitely come back
Great location: literally minutes on foot to car rental place, grocery store, etc. 15 minutes to downtown Manteo. Nice amenities
